I can totally relate! There are times I'm just eating without even tasting what I'm putting in my mouth. One way to curb the carbs is drinking water (as someone else suggested), and if you DO eat something you're craving, eat verryyyy slowly. You will feel full sooner, and you will have really given your taste buds to…

Just work out harder tomorrow. We all have slip ups, the important thing is to get back on track and continue moving forward. If you dwell on it, you might just want to give up. Just brush yourself off and keep going! Congrats on losing one inch!! That's wonderful!!!

You can add me too. It's always nice to have a support group!

Good for you to finally having control over the food you eat. That is just half the battle!! I admire you for KEEPING the weight off. I once lost 50 lbs, about 10 years ago and did not keep it all off. I have to lose about 15 pounds and it is SOOOO hard!!! This site really is a godsend. I'm new here but have found it to be…

I believe you do need to keep your fat intake down in order to lose weight. But there's good fat and bad fat. The bad fat makes you fat! The good fat such as olive oil, and fish oil are GOOD for you.

I didn't know Oregon can be hot and sunny! LOL Well, you've come to the right place for support and motivation. I am also a newbie here, but so far I love it! We are all here with the same reason, whether it be to lose weight, get healthy, etc. It's amazing how much our metabolism slows down after reaching a certain age.…

Good luck! I'm sure you will succeed in losing the weight! You have the ultimate motivation!!!

I had a personal trainer who told me to buy 100% whey protein and make it with water as a meal replacement or a snack. When I entered it in my food log, I was way over my protein limit, so now I don't drink the shakes anymore. I eat plenty of fresh peanut butter, egg whites, lean meat, and fat free cottage cheese that I…

Muscle DOES weigh more than fat. It could also be water weight. If you eat too much sodium, the scale will show it! Just drink lots of water to flush out your body..and keep up the good work...you've come so far!!!

You are taking the necessay steps in a healthier lifestyle! Good for you!!! I'm fairly new to this site too, and so far I love it! I have one suggestion. Don't call it a "diet". Diets are meant to fail. This is a lifelong journey. A change that you will need to continue for a lifetime. When we exercise to lose weight, we…

Try drinking water for energy. Hydrating your body will also help stay alert and focused! AND it's healthier! :o) Your body will most likely go through a detox, so I suggest drinking as much water as you can handle.

Hi and welcome to MFP. I'm also fairly new to this site, but so far I think it's wonderful! I like seeing my food journal including calories, etc after I have added my food for the day. It really puts things in perspective. It's one thing to write it down, but it's something else when you add up all the calories. Sure…

I always heard that it's not good to eat past 5 or 7pm, but since you're working out, I don't think eating at 8 should pose a problem for you. You're burning calories and you need food to replenish your body. Just as long as it's not heavy food such as high calorie/fat meals, you should be fine.

I love that show too and I often wondered what they do with the food. I can only assume that the unopened foods will go to a shelter, but anything already opened would probably go in the garbage.

I always thought that cadio is best to do first, that way your muscles are warmed up to do strength training, however, my 16 yr old daughter said that a trainer at her gym told her it's important to do strength training first..but I'm not sure why, so I'm just sticking with my original thought!. :o)

Welcome ot MFP Stu! I like what you said about making this a way of life and not calling it a diet. A diet means that you can go off of it at anytime, but when making a lifelong change, it's exactly that..lifelong! And who wants to be on a diet for a lifetime? Congratulations on your accomplishments! Keep up the good…

I was told that there is too much sugar in wine and that I should avoid it while I'm dieting. It has a lot of sugar in it, and the reason people gain weight from drinking it is because as in all sugars, our body craves more, so drinking alcohol leads us to eat more than we normally do, or should. I love wine but I have…

Congratulations on yours and your wife's success, thus far. I wonder though, if it's possible to KEEP the weight off when you stop taking the drops? As far as losing weight so quickly, I have always heard that the faster you lose the weight, the faster you gain it back. You're more apt to keeping it off when you lose it…

That's amazing! I know someone who was on a diet similar to your SIL. My friend went to a weight loss clinic, got shots (B complex I think), took diet pills, and was told to eat as much meat as possible. She was so proud of herself for losing weight (she hardly ever exercised), and she had strong leg muscles, which she…

They have that at the gym where I work out, and I've seen people use them, but it makes sense that it will help tone up the mid section. I think hula hooping with a regular hoop would do the trick too!

Losing inches is easier than losing weight. When people diet and exercise, they notice their clothes fitting differently before the scale shows weight loss. The way to flatten your belly is to exercise. Lots of people think that doing crunches is the only way to lose it, but that's just not so. Cardio will help lose the…

I think every woman is her own worst critic. I have been overweight my whole life, so when I lost 50 lbs (10 yrs ago), I was in a size 1 or 3 and I STILL felt fat. Even now I am desperate to lose weight because I can't stand looking at myself in the mirror (I can wear a size 7 or 9). I know I'll never be a size 1, but it…

WOW! You look amazing!!!! Congratulations on your progress!!!
