  • Yes like 'make the weights feel like they 10 xs heavier than they really are'...'don't just let the weights come down, flex down'...hehe just to name a few. I did notice if I really focused I could make my measily 3 lb'rs feel like 10 lbs early in the program.
  • I have done the program and now am doing the 'lean' for life schedule. The weights I used to start out were 3,5,10. I then moved up to 20...though I should prob have 15 and 8 (I try to hold 3 & 5 lb together but not so easy). You will get to 20lbs...I did during the push month. Good luck to you with Chalean Extreme...I…
  • Turbo jam is so much better than Slim in 6- way more fun and exciting. I lost most of my weight doing TJ. You get addicted...I especially recommend it because it is lower impact and fitness level than Turbo Fire so if you are just starting an exercise program TJ is perfect for you. I hope one day to get Turbo Fire...but…
  • Yes I agree- you may or may not gain weight- I retained something because my pants were tight up until the middle of the Burn circuit...I think it can take up to 4 weeks for your muscles to am finishing up the Lean circuit now. The water weight or whatever it was has subsided...and the only time I notice it is if I don't…
  • Thanks for the comment...it is just hard starting something new...but I know in the end it will be worth it like you said it gives you more time for everything in the evenings...you don't take the chance of not doing it if you are up and have done it in the morning, too. Will just keep on...and hope I get used to it and…

  • Ok I've switched around my schedule since FI was complaining all I cared about was doing my videos and not helping out around the house (which is a lie...but I digress)...so I started for 1st day working on in morning before work and man was it hard. I noticed I was more tired...struggle more through the workout and have…
  • Awesome! I envy those that truly enjoy running...hoping one day I get to that!
  • I agree--chalean is great...especially if you love turbo-she is just as upbeat positive...and along with the weight training are cardio workouts you can do...and those are a lot of fun and challenging too!
  • I just did that one yesterday...and my shoulders hurt today...but good workout! Shoulders seem to be a weaker muscle on a lot of people.
  • I agree with those of you who say the lean phase push ups are a struggle. I can do them but I cannot do all the reps...I cannot do slow ones too well and one handed with weight in the other is super hard. Any good tips to improve with the pushups (my wrists are still kinda weak which I know can hinder a good pushup). I…
  •
  • afeinberg- I know what you mean about being uncertain as to what weights to use. When I first started I kind of went with Laylee and lifted about as heavy as she did. If it was too heavy or too light, I would make a mark in my guidebook (arrows up or down). And if I failed exactly at the maximum rep of 12 or 8, I marked it…
  • See I can understand be tighter in different areas of muscles you are really working but I don't understand why i am only feeling it in the waist, hip and abdomen. I am using my arms a lot-but I haven't noticed my sleeves being tighter. I did TJ and bicycle to lose the 26 lbs and some improved eating. I have lost a few lbs…
  • kicklikeagirl- yes i have read that article before...and i knew it was common to gain a few lbs because of muscles retaining fluid and/or inflammation but just seems no matter how much cardio i have been doing it doesn't alleviate the bloated tight feeling in my waist and legs- my pants are really tight, almost…
  • Interesting...I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I wonder if the fat covering the muscle is causing this since the muscle is building/ bulking most probably in the PUSH phase meanwhile not all the fat is being shed??? I'm curious to see what people say to your and my post. Hang in there...
  • Ok so I've noticed I was fitting nicely into a size 6 pr of Levis and now they are a bit snug the last week (not that time of the month) and I have been drinking plenty of water...I know they say when working muscles they get inflamed or whatever- but I am kinda concerned I am gaining weight though the scale doesn't show…
  • Sonjavon- isn't that something else? He said he doesn't like them but will eat them- scratching my head here. I think because it was at his parents he felt more obliged to eat them and not refuse...but wow, I wish my FI was the same. That is so great you are able to incorporate the veggies and the fam is willing. And of…
  • Unfortunately he won't try new fruits either- the only fruit he will eat are green seedless grapes and an occasion apple and watermelon. Everything else he refuses. :o(
  • Thank you ladies for all the good responses..... I would love to tell him 'too bad-if you don't eat what I make then u can cook'. I am the primary cook in the household as he pitches in on a lot of housework during the week so it's a fair trade. However, when I constantly get the huffy response- I say well then you need to…
  • Also, I'm not sure for how long but if you are a GNC member they are 25% off right now with free shipping (my FI has had some issues w/ the GNC store he goes to- they seem to run out of them and can't keep them in stock)
  • I, too, hate most protein shakes I've had...but the EAS Lite MYplex (vanilla or chocolate) are delicious and go down pretty smooth!
  • Blondie- I agree, weights are expensive and get in the way...I do my workouts in our living room that is oh maybe 12x6 and I move the coffee table and keep the weights in the corner but will have to put them away when we have company because I have 4 sets now...still might have to get 15s...just because I tried holding 5s…
  • Push- heavier weights-more soreness-more feeling of accomplishment! I noticed though I am in my 2nd wk of Push and my pants fit tighter in the thighs. I am a Chalene fan on fbook (hehe) and she recently posted about why people give up working out (esp weight training).,..in the first few wks when you begin to weight train…
  • OMG- yes I have tried the Burn Interval...actually did it last night and wowsers...the cardio isn't as hard as some of the muscle endurance...especially the overhead bicep lift. I also have done the burn it up and that one gets my heart rate really high and feel like there is not enough time inbetween circuits to catch…
  • Ok---- I got 20 lb'ers now...I am good to go with 5,10, and 20 lbs...will have to modify on some exercises but I am happy that I got the heavier weight. :) Oh and I noticed on Push Phase circuit 2- you don't need to use anything heavier than 10-12.5 on all the moves whereas circuit 1 you do. I was surprised about that but…
  • Thanks for the advise. It completely makes sense what you are saying. I'm just hesitant to use such heavy weights so soon since I've been using 10 lbs max. I was thinking of increasing to 15 for now? Is that beneficial or should I def go up right away to lift really heavy to fail by the 8th rep? I did the 1st circuit last…
  • Back to the 'weights' topic- - I'm taking a poll.................. what was the highest weight you used in the PUSH phase? What was the highest weight you used in the LEAN phase? Did you decrease or increase or stay the same as the PUSH phase?
  • Do a search on here for 'weights' as I asked this same question earlier on. I only had 3 lb weights so I got 5 and 10 lb. I looked into the adjustable weights as well but realized unless you buy good quality weights-many of those cheaper ones have issues (ex. hard to adjust, takes too long to adjust and keep up with the…
  • Can you give me an idea of how much more weight will be required? I definitely want to make the most out of this program and not underapply myself with too light of weights but not too heavy to injure myself. And I know they do say you can handle heavier weight than you think! Congrats on making it to next phase! :)
