  • To the library! My local library has a *ton* of fitness DVD's all for the low low cost of free. I'm also pretty spoiled in that it has a Zumba class twice a week. Add that to all the cookbooks (healthy, regular, ethnic), fitness books, ect... ect... It's a great resource. My favorite part? If they don't have something, I…
  • From what my Zumba instructor told me, tight clothes do not help shape your body. However, the reason she recommends them is that they help decrease muscle soreness and lets you see what your body is doing more easily without a ton of fabric in the way.
  • Great job! (Week 4 is evil... XD You can guess what week I'm on!)
  • I'd like to see some studies done beyond the anecdotal, "I took this and it made me feel great!" If it stands up to rigorous scientific testing, then cool! But as it stands..... it's one more in a string of fads.
  • XD I think I'm in love! I love cosplay but the soft pillows of fat don't lend themselves well to many costumes. I think the most recent I've done was Yako from Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro for a library event (if we don't count Halloween 'cause... Halloween.) I'm also big in the whole science/math/technology stuff as well as…
  • I have to agree, I prefer to be doing other things, like playing video games or knitting. However, I'm finding the more I deliberately exercise the less onerous it becomes. Now I feel disappointed if I don't get to exercise. (I'm still not sure I'd actually say I like it.....) As for running, I started the C25K a few weeks…
  • Hi Erika! I'm roughly about the same height and weight and age. XD More than that I'm just up here in Arkansas. Sorry, I always find it fun when I see someone from my region of the world on such a global site like MFP. I know this will be a great tool for you on your journey! Remember, you already did the hardest part.…
  • Great job! The first few days are the hardest but it'll soon be routine. Follow the Dory method. "Just keep logging, just keep logging."
  • I'm going to throw my two cents in because it seems like most of the encouragement is to learn to cook. I definitely agree with a lot of this, cooking is a great way to know what you're putting in yourself and a whole lot easier to control portion sizes. That being said, my broke unemployed college days were not that far…
  • Try Zumba! I'm pretty lucky where I live because the local library offers free classes twice a week. It was a great way to try it without feeling pressured into having to pay for X months. The class I go to has a pretty wide range of body types and skill levels so I never feel out of place despite my size. I started Zumba…
