  • Wanting to include more strength training, but not sure where to start... Just starting out running, doing a half marathon in June. My routine- Mon- elliptical or Jillian DVD, and 3 mile run Tue- spin class, and a short 1-2 mile run with my 8 yr old(I sweat! I count it! Lol) Wed- 4-5 mile run Thur- spin class and short run…
  • Chocolate triggers my dh's migraines. Glad it's him and not me, not sure I could stay away from chocolate. ;) but he does.
  • I've been keeping an eye on the amiigo as well- looks awesome- waiting to see how it fares.
  • Hang in there, stick with it! Dont quit. Slow and steady. speed will come. (at least I hope so, cuz Im not very fast!). I have just taken up running, and am training for a half marathon next summer. I have my first official 5k next weekend. I have done a few 5ks as part of sprint triathlons, but they were mostly walking,…
  • I still do mostly the same types of foods as I've always cooked, only try to make them a bit healthier- lower fat cuts of meat, less cheese, etc. I still do bread, pasta and rice, just not quite as often as I used to, or in smaller portions than before. Stir fry veggies with meat or chicken- what we had tonight! Grilled…
  • Swimming! I love to swim, my pool pass expired, and it's not in the budget for another one right now, so I'm trying out new things- spin class, and starting to take up running.
  • Got rid of it! Donated it all. Problem is, I'm down to 1 pair of pants that actually fit, and I'm 1 size away from goal, lol so I refuse to buy more in this size. ;) ,
  • Im Down 59 lbs, and I generally eat most of my exercise calories back. There are days when I do a Jillian DVD, And go for a run, or do elliptical in the morning with dh, and go for a run in the afternoon with my son,. And I likely won't eat all of those simply because I'm not that hungry, but I do try to keep my NET…
  • Thanks for the help! I have a muff similar to those buffs- hadnt thought about pulling it out to run with! On the lookout for some running tights, and mittens. Putting all this on my Christmas wish list...didn't think running was going to be an expensive hobby, lol. luckily the snow hasn't hit here at home yet, just at our…
  • Another thought I had - what if I did 17 week training plan, then backed it up, and started it over again? That would put me just right at race day. :/
  • Thanks for the tips especially on shoes and stretching. The running store is on my list of places to go- to get me some new shoes, as soon as I can find some extra $ in the budget. Dh's hours were cut at work.:( What I've done is taken galloways plans, and added extra weeks in between just repeating the previous 2 weeks.…
  • Thanks! That's a good idea! I'll look into 10 k plans. Most of the ones I've looked at start lower than at I'm already doing, but maybe if I started where I'm at, it would work.
  • I Was getting frustrated over the lack of movement n the scale lately. Measured, and I'd lost 3 more inches from my waist, and 2 more off my hips. That explains why I was literally running my pants off yesterday.-- gotta find $ for a few new pair,
  • I love my spin class! I go twice a week- tue, thur. According to mfp, I burn about 400 cal in the hour class. Be warned, the first few times you will be saddle sore. Keep going back!
  • Thanks! I'll look into the Hal Higdon and the train like a mother plans!
  • Thanks guys! I'm planning on doing run-walk-run. My plan is to slowly increase mileage every other week or so, only by a mile at a time, with a few times i drop back down to a lower long run. I'm thinking I'll do 2 short runs, and 1 long run, every other week, then the next week- 3 short runs. Does that sound about right?
  • Thanks everyone! I CAN do this! This sounds great! And the decreased possibility for injurings is appealing.
  • Stir fry veggies- Brown some meat, (steak, chicken, pork.) add Broccoli, onions, peppers, etc. sautéed in a t if oil, or pan spray.
  • Mexican sloppy joes on multigrain bread - onion buns for the rest of the fam- who dont care for multigrain---along with Corn on the cob, watermelon and cantaloupe- and I think lemon bars for dessert.
  • Ok- giving it a try- Uggg! It's too big. If this doesn't work I'll have to try again some other time. Yeah! Finally figured it out!
  • Have fun! I've done 3 sprint tris. Not doing one this year- my sil who does them with me is pregnant and due 3 weeks after the race date. so were skipping it this year. My advice- practice the bike/run transition- wow- that's a killer going from pedaling to running!
  • Wow- body fat % one shows a goal weight between 144-152 for 21-25% body fat.- which is probably about where I want to be. That's higher than I thought it would be! Wonder if I could get my body fat tested at my gym. Probably have to ay extra for a personal trainer- but it might be worth it. My scale has the body fat tester…
  • I hope I will be able to say that! :) Tried the calculator- said between 117-146. So maybe shoot for somewhere in the middle of that? 130ish? That would be awesome!
  • Yeah!! I love thrift store shopping! I did the same thing at the thrift store this week- and came home with 2 pair of size 12's- one a nice Tommy Hilfiger pair- $5 each. :)
  • Welcome! I was 202 when I started mid February. I'm down 38 pounds so far. :). You can do it, I agree with the log every day. We went to a Chinese buffet last night- not my choice- took a friend out for her birthday. I was over, but I mentally had to keep track of what I was eating to I could log it- I this it helped keep…
  • Just mfp, and You are your own gym app- kinda cool with various workouts you can do at home.
  • We found a deal at $20 per month ach person- so $40 for dh and I. No day care but our kids are older, and we just leave them home. No pool either- but we do also buy a famiy pass for a local indoor pool for the family- which is $175 per year for the family. I love my swim days. :)

  • Low iron? Check with your dr.
  • I like a bit of light cream cheese on mine, and toss a few frozen strawberries into a bowl, and microwave them until they are soft, them mash them up, and pour on top of my pancakes.
