Lifting helps retain muscle, so keeps metabolism higher as you lose weight. You may not gain much muscle after newbie gains, but its better than losing it all and being skinny-fat :)

I always weigh mine before, and for vegetables will pick entries saying raw. Most food labels will be based on raw/uncooked weight (so a 400g pack with 4 servings will be 100g/serve), unless the labels says 'as prepared' or something similar. Just do whats works for you, I don't really want to be weighing once its cooked,…

I've tried that too, but found it less motivating for exercise. What i've been doing is set my daily goal to maintain at sedentary (1700) and then any exercise added, and anything I eat below this makes up my deficit for the day. This means that when it says 250 calories remaining, that is my deficit for the day. I really…

Is this the phone app? I've been using it too, and really like it. I'm not always a hundred% how accurate it is, and one night I managed to knock it off my bed, but that morning I was much groggier than the others.

What is your sedentary TDEE, I'm 5'7 and about 134 and mine is 1700 a day so you may be eating too much if you NET this. Also how are you calculating your exercise calories, the calculators can way over (or under for some people) estimate so you may be eating back way too many calories which could be stalling your weight…

Thanks for the add :)

With only around 10lbs to lose you could probably benefit from only trying to lose 1/2lbs per week, making sure your diet consists of clean foods and high protein. That last 10lbs is always the hardest to lose, and it may be frustrating to lose so little, but spend time lifting heavy to try build some muscle which will…

I would recommend eating at least some of this back, whenever I have to use an estimation for my exercise I just add half the calories in and eat them back. Edit: I normally try to be stingy with my exercise calories so I'm not overestimating, but get the full enjoyment of eating more :)
-
Just remember you need to fuel your body for that exercise, so that you lose mostly fat and avoid losing lean body mass (muscle). In the long run do you want to be skinny with lots of fat still, or skinny but lean and healthy?

I think for some people they cannot fathom living on 1200 calories a day, I never understand how people can have trouble getting to this number.
-
There are people far more qualified than me so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you take the 20% of your TDEE which for now is 1601, so you would eat around 1280. Because TDEE takes into account your daily activity you do not eat back your exercise calories. I'm sorry I didn't check if you entered the data…

Not quite a teen, but sent you a request anyway :)

I would say with so little to lose, move to 0.5lbs/week. Enjoy your extra calories with healthy high protein foods and lift heavy :)
-
I spent a good half an hour watching a Martha Stewart video over and over again until I could do it, now my life is soooo much easier :)

I think what they were trying to point out is that MFP will not give you less than 1200 calories, so as u can see your projected weight loss is only 1.3lbs rather than the 1.5. For some people with a lower daily activity this may give them 1lbs or less rather than the 1.5 which might explain lower weight loss.

I weigh most days but only record once a week.

I'm not sure how the nurse works, but will you be seeing her on a semi/regular basis? I guess the difference is when people eat that little and don't know when to stop. Under the guidance of a health professional this kind of diet seems reasonable although I could never eat that little. Good luck :)

I don't bother tracking sugars cause if it is going to put me off having fruit i'd rather not worry. Also decided to stop logging my fish oil tablets cause for some reason that 20calories a day really puts me off having them :S
-
At least you don't need to worry about appendicitis again :) As long as you are being sensible, and eat healthy and enough you should be absolutely fine. And if things come up, take a break if you need to, and then push through and keep going. Don't let anything set you back from your new healthy lifestyle. Good luck :D

A 12 is certainly not too fat!!! Just remember your usually the only person taking notice, most people are too wrapped up in their own heads. Have fun tomorrow!

Sent you an add :)

I've been looking into the sigma branded HRM,as they are about $80-100 cheaper in NZ. Any opinions on this brand? Looking at the models from PC9-15

I just used my sedentary TDEE and divided by 24 to find the calories I would burn in an hour doing nothing. For me it works out to be 70cal/h and then I would up this to 80-90 to give myself a buffer zone.
-
Is this new exercise? Some people gain a lot of water weight, when they start exercise/new routines, especially if you are trying to burn 3500 a week. Try take a couple days off and see if this helps?

I don't have it yet, but i'm a year off Optometry
