  • I'm assuming that you are in the UK from your mention of Marmite? :) Asda do a really nice Wholemeal and Rye bread (in their extra special range but still cheaper than hovis). It's still bread and is 103 calories per slice but it's a lot more substantial than others so fills you up for longer and you can save calories…
  • Gloucestershire. :)
  • I got a Charge HR for christmas and love it so far. I generally love tech type things and the fact that it generates reports is a big bonus for me. I do love a chart!
  • I have a great set of digital scales. I put the bread on, reset it to 0, take it off and butter it and then re-weigh it. It takes seconds. I know what 10g of butter looks like on the bread but I still weigh it anyway.
  • Take it one day at a time. Try to make good choices but don't beat yourself up if you don't manage to all the time. Things will get better in time. Making it out of bed is half the battle when life is rough.
  • The Today Programme on BBC Radio 4.
  • Not wanting to lower the tone but over here in the UK there's a whole industry built up around 'Vajazzling'. . .
  • You can add me if you like. I have similar goals and I LOVE knitting! I'm on a 62 days streak which is my longest ever and I'm trying to make it to 365 too.
  • I weigh twice a day - once in the morning and once last thing at night. I only log my weight on here every other Saturday though. I'm interested in the fluctuations, it keeps me a bit more on track and I'm not bothered by the daily ups and downs as long as the fortnightly trend is downwards. I've found that once I stop…
  • I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for it for years. I avoid pre packaged foods such as ready meals, don't add salt to my cooking or at the table, have reduced my caffeine intake (but not cut it out completely) and I don't eat many processed meats such as bacon or ham. There are some foods that are…
  • You absolutely rock and are a total inspiration. (*)
  • Yep, it's 203oz. (29.5mls per US fluid oz)
  • I've just used the quick add calorie function and got the calorie content from other websites. It's not ideal but it is a work around.
  • Happy to accept if you send a request.
  • I actually did a little research into this last month and found a report (not sure how accurate it was) that said that women crave chocolate during their periods because it's a mood lifter at a time when hormones can make you a little depressed or down. It also said that your body craves quick to digest energy foods…
  • I weigh all my food on a digital scale. If it's not possible to weigh it (such as being out) I'll use the serving sizes on the site as a guide but overestimate rather than under. If you're physically smaller though and toning up, maybe use measurements as your measure of success rather than the scales.
  • Mine is open. Feel free to take a peak. I measure and log everything. Sometimes it looks great, sometimes (like yesterday) less so but logging means that I'm more honest with myself and more aware of what I'm eating.
  • Add me if you like. Mine is open and I log daily. I tend to log what I'm going to eat in advance (usually the night before) as I find it keeps me more on track so don't be thrown that I'm logging from the future!
  • Me too. I've been on here on and off since august 2010. I think I've gone backwards and forwards over the same 40lbs at least twice (probably more). It works if you stick to it but on each occasion I got cocky and thought I didn't need to weigh food, didn't need to log and started lying to myself about how much I was…
  • It's only a week. Don't become disheartened. I always think about how long it's taken me to put weight on and remember that changes aren't going to happen over night (or even over seven nights!). As long as you are logging your food accurately (I weigh everything on a digital scale) and keeping within the parameters, you…
  • I weigh every day or every other day but only record on MFP once a fortnight. Like a previous poster said if I stop weighing, I put weight on because I lie to myself about how much I'm eating.
  • I bought new scales recently that weighed me 6lbs heavier than the last ones. I was convinced they were wrong but, having checked them with one of my husbands weights, was disappointed to find that they were correct and the old ones were wrong. I know what you mean by gutting!
  • This is my third time starting over. On both previous occasions I've got to 150lbs and just completely lost the plot and stopped tracking. Of course I then put it all back on again (36lbs this time round). This time feels different though. I'm including regular exercise and much healthier choices rather than just less of…
  • Yes, I find it much easier to stay on track if I've pre-logged. I also meal plan for the week (although I tend to have the same for breakfast each day).
  • I have porridge (with Scott's porridge oats - I think it's called oat meal in the US) every week day which I make with half semi-skimmed milk (you could use skimmed) and half boiling water. I pop it in the microwave for a couple of minutes and then chuck in some chopped prunes or raisins and dried apple. You can top it…
  • I was just the 5th flagger on three in a row. Very satisfying. :)
  • Costa all the way! Small americano with hot milk.
  • You can't do anything further to help, he needs to address this himself. You've done all you can. He needs to draw up a list of his essential bills and what he's earning from his jobs. From there he can do a budget (or look to see if he can cut his outgoings in any way) which, if he sticks to it and assuming that his…
  • I read something recently that said that the taste buds that detect bitter flavours kick in at around this age so it's not uncommon for kids to go off veggies. The suggestion was to keep trying every few months or so. I used to disguise them in a sauce and then give it a fun name - eg - Rainbow sauce was a can of tomatoes,…
  • LOL! I tell everyone I know. I think they're sick of hearing me go on about it!
