You have to realize that you're worth the effort/hassle. Eventually it gets easier. :)

I lost 38lbs then had to go on prednisone for health issues and ended up gaining about 25 back. My appetite was insane and I couldn't workout. Then I just kept eating. I'm back on track and I know I can do this. It's really not that hard, you just have to want it bad enough, take the time to PLAN meals and move more. I'm…

Christmas day this year, with my honey, our 5 grandbabies and my photo bomber Lab, Hazel. :)

I was on prednisone with horrible side effects almost all summer and couldn't run, in fact could hardly walk 10 feet without being in agonizing pain at times. Then I gained 25lbs after losing 40. That was very depressing as I had been running up to 10k, 3 times per week. The first day I felt well enough to exercise, I…

It doesn't have to be complicated. If you don't exercise, you should be losing weight at 1200. If you do exercise, you can still lose weight if you eat more than 1200. No one eats 1800-1900 calories and loses weight without working out.. unless they weigh 500lbs to begin with. I'm 5ft 3 and I definitely built muscle by…

Just a heads up, you probably wont like my response either. I took Ally to help me lose weight and all it did was mess up my stomach. I don't know if xenical works the same way, if so it will suck, you wont like it and your money is gone. If it does work, you'll gain the weight back if you haven't changed your…

I chew Orbit's pink bubblemint gum. It's sugar free and minty, so if you eat a cookie, it'll taste awful. Worse than brushing your teeth before eating. I buy it by the bag now. I'd also do what someone else said, plan to eat a cookie or some other treat on Friday. I also imagine how many calories are in each treat and…

I know that some Christians don't believe in telling or practicing the story of Santa Claus because they think of it as being 'fake' and not the real reason for Christmas. I chose to let mine believe because of all the gifts that were brought to Jesus when he was born. Also St. Nicholas was a real person, who gave gifts to…

I get mine free from a friend who has their own hens, so I have no idea what they cost in the store. The reason the prices are going up is because of the drought in the Midwest last year. There was a shortage of corn, so the price went sky high, therefore costing more to feed the birds, hogs, beef, etc. The prices SHOULD…

If you're in charge of dinner, maybe. I'm fixing dinner today and I'll go for a hike, but it'll be while stuff is the smoker and I can get away without burning anything. lol I have gone on a hike every thanksgiving since I was a little kid. Back then it was to get away from the relatives, but now it's just for the peace…

Whole eggs are good for you, but like anything, too much of one thing and the calories add up quickly. The yolk is nutrient rich because that is what feeds the baby chick (the egg white) until it hatches. A large egg has 70 calories. Egg white from one egg has 17 calories and the yolk has 53. The white is full of protein,…

Whatever I want. It's one day. :)

Congrats! 5 weeks isn't much time and I have no idea how much you want to lose. I'm able to lose 10lbs a month just by walking 45-60 minutes a day and staying within my calories. So, if that can work for you, maybe you'd lose 15lbs? It just depends on how much you have to lose. Good luck and again, congrats.

I just eat bad stuff on the actual holiday(s). As far as parties go, they are usually potluck and if not, the host never minds if I bring a nice fruit or veggie tray. I snack on that and drink water. I have a HUGE family and if I feel like I'm losing control at all of the festivities, since they are ALL year long,I will…

Anything that will help you defend yourself is a good thing. I use it because I walk my dog and she sometimes gets attacked by dogs who are not fenced. So far, so good, probably more so because I used my phone to video said dogs in front of their homes while their owners were outside. If that didn't work, they were going…

I have a Polar FT4 and I love it and it's worth every penny. If I'm out walking and my pulse isn't where I want it to be, I pick up the speed. If I'm running and my pulse gets too high, I slow down a bit. That is valuable for my weight loss and health, main due to meds I'm on. Also, it inspires me to do better than the last…

We have a large family and many friends, so I'll toss you a few. :) Brayden, Greyson, Landon, Logan, Waylon, Carter, Marcus, Wade, Jasten, Liam, Owen, and next week we will have an Oliver. The 'outdoorsy' names: Hunter, Remington, River, Brantley, Avery (that one is a girl, but is also used as a boys name)

I hadn't really thought about it but I guess I have more than a few things. Its more because of the sodium rather than calories. Canned soup, instant cheese potatoes in a box, mac n cheese (unless its homemade), marinades and seasonings unless its homemade also. Basically, I try to avoid processed food in a box, but will…

Never question bacon! lol A regular slice of bacon, cooked crisp, only has 35 calories! If you want to know for sure what it weighs, you could weigh it in grams before cooking and weigh again afterwards. Subtract the calories. Looking up how many calories are in one gram of fat would be helpful. :)

Homemade soups with more veggies and meat than 'juice'. My favorite is vegetable beef. Overnight refrigerator oats. I use old fashioned (not quick-cooking oats), greek yogurt, fruit and skim milk. Skinnytaste has several recipes for it. Skinnytaste.com also has a LOT of other lower cal and high protein meals. I love that…

Eat! If you're truly hungry, just eat something. Try to make it high in protein to help build those awesome muscles you just worked out. Protein also keeps you feeling full longer.

Hi! My name is Carla and.... I'm in bed with a stomach flu or appendicitis, trolling the forums, because I have nothing else to do! I am also struggling. I lost 40lbs, got sick over spring/summer and had to take prednisone that helped me, help myself to a LOT of bad food. I was unable to exercise most days due to…

I wasn't going to comment on this but I feel as though I must.. Being a recovered anorexic/bulimic, I believe that you are not eating 1400 calories per day or you are WAY overestimating your intake our of fear of gaining an ounce. I'm only 5ft2 and when I was anorexic, I got down to 98 and I was very, very frail and I have…

Definitely inches! I go to water aerobics in the colder months and weighed 138ish when the class ended the previous winter. I worked out all summer, biking, swimming, walking, running, etc., and was up to 144 lbs. I'm short and all of the 'charts' were saying I should weigh around 120, so I was frustrated and didn't…

This is what helps me... First of all, you have to really want to lose the weight and be healthy. I have a LARGE family (over 90 nieces and nephews alone). There is always someone having a party or wedding, graduation, etc., with potlucks, cakes, candy, blah blah blah. What I finally figured out is that I had made a choice…

Exercise brought mine up and it was super-low too, 35ish.

It depends on your situation. I've been married for 34 years and I know that if I wasn't, I (we) probably would have given up easily when we had some serious problems. I think that trying to hold on to what we call marriage is what kept us together. To some, it's just a piece of paper, but not us.

A documentary film about Hitler and the holocaust. I was in Jr. High and will NEVER forget.
