Hmm. I have pretty blue eyes, a nice, toned butt and I look a lot younger than I am. At 51, I'm happy with those. :)

I don't *hate* anyone. I do however, have a neighbor that has 4 little yapping dogs I can't stand, squawking parrots she keeps on her porch all summer, wind chimes and a son with a VERY loud truck. When I hear the noises and can't concentrate, sleep, etc., I pray for her. It instantly calms me. :)

Congratulations! We are a rarity for sure! 34 years for us this October. We've had good times, bad & downright AWFUL times, but got through it all by WORKING on it. For us, that means making dates, no matter what is going on and keeping communication open at all times.

This^^^ Exercise, mainly walking and jogging always lifts my mood. I have a few reasons why I think so. Exercise increases endorphins, which in turn improve your mood and decrease pain. Getting in a good workout makes me feel proud of myself and I have the added benefit of better health and weight loss/maintenance. Getting…

Is it possible that you were eating a lot more than 1600 cals before you started? If so, that may explain your amazing loss. Congrats!

Get a HRM. Machines that estimate calorie burns are based on an average weight. A 138lb person isn't going to burn as much as someone who weighs 250 or as low as someone who weighs 100lbs. I have a Polar Ft4 that I love. I've used it almost daily for over a year and the battery is still going. It's worth every penny.

Hey, thanks for your post! You made me laugh a bit since I'm already in the 50's age bracket, at 51. Also, I've only been lost once. I was lucky though, my teenage daughter was in my truck and I had my cell phone. I had to have her honk the horn until I found her. LOL It was kind of scary though because it was getting dark…

Yay! Congrats! I'm happy for you. :)

If you're asking if one is better than the other, the answer is no. If you're asking me what you have, I can't see them and have no idea.

A 5 gallon water bottle! Thanks for posting that, it makes you realize the progress you've made, even more!

Homemade raspberry vinagrette! You can lower the cals by using artificial sweetener if you don't fear them.

Thank you for your response. I hadn't even considered what I would do if I fell. Great advice!

Thank you for your response. I have a dirt/grass trail that I run on near my home and I agree it's slower, probably for me because I'm super cautious about where I'm going to place my foot for each step. It's pretty much packed down in the summer and I find it more comfortable than asphalt, like it takes away some of the…

Thank you for your reply. It looks like there aren't too many of us 'older' folks on the trails. I was hoping to find more! Thank you for the tip about the hills.. I probably would have made myself (try to) run up them. About the mud, I kind of fear running through that but I guess it depends on how much it has rained…

Thank you for your reply. I haven't been able to trail run much but did when I was younger. I read that just walking the trails would help strengthen my ankles. Do you find that to be true? If so, I'll do more of that on my 'off' days. Thank you about that core tip too, I didn't really give it much thought. I am lifting so…

I thought this was a thread on cross-dressing.

This... if you're feeling deprived, you may not be doing it right. You should be able to enjoy some of your favorite foods along with healthier options. I've lost 40lbs, still have 15-20 to go and I plan on doing this for life. And, I won't give up the occasion Butterfinger Blizzard, cake, pie, cookies, BACON, biscuits and…

People who hang on for dear life on the treadmills, even while running. I fear walking behind them. If they would start out walking/running slower, their balance would improve and they wouldn't have to hold on like that. Drives me nuts. The 'big' guy who runs on his tiptoes and holds the treadmill while he does it. He…

I started in May last year and had to stop because I was dumb enough to take my lab with me. She tripped me and I broke my foot in 2 places. I ended up finishing in Nov. and then did the C25K to 10k bridge. I just signed up for my first run for St. Judes. 15.6 miles. While I don't expect to run the entire thing, I'll do at…

I run and lift now, but I lost 40lbs initially, just by walking a few miles per day and staying fairly close to my cals/exercise cals. I'm getting ready to start walking again to get rid of the last stubborn 10.

I love Honey Crisp so much that I bought my own tree!

I don't log healthy snacks that I sometimes have after dinner. Mainly because I don't want to log in again. I've been doing this long enough that I know it won't hurt me, as long as I'm still under.
-
Got off my *kitten*, walked, jogged & biked over 1,000 miles in 11 months, logged my food and stayed under my cals/exercise cals.

We always try to break even. I'd rather use my own money all year rather than give our government an interest-free loan. It's also just as easy to toss money in a savings account rather than hope for that big refund as income. I find that odd. However, this year we somehow got a bit over $300.00 back.

I lost 40lbs walking. Now that I run, I've gained about 8. lol
-
I'm the same way. I think it just takes me that long to get into my comfortable pace. You'd think that wouldn't be necessary EVERY single time you run though.
-
After I finished C25K and I was able to go on an actual 'trail' run, I was hooked for life. Nothing compares! Also, this winter I did the C25K bridge to 10K for weight loss. I didn't lose any weight but I'll tell you something, a 5K is a lot easier now. lol

1) Hitting rock bottom and deciding that I HAD to do something or I would die. I am only 5ft 3 and I had ballooned up to 179lbs by doing absolutely nothing but sitting on the couch with my laptop, watching tv and eating high calorie, sodium and fat filled junk. 2) Deciding what to do about it, I chose walking at a pace I'd…

For me, it wouldn't have mattered, no matter who it was. I probably would have just agreed with them, would have eaten something in front of them just to satisfy them, then go back to my old routine when they weren't around. Eventually, I wouldn't even do that and became angry if they even mentioned it.
