my doc says that there is a variation in dose of that medication. You may have just gotten a different batch that is lower. I had the same problem when my doc tried to lower my dose of synthroid a bit too much and I increased it slightly, she was fine with the increase that I suggested, but synthroid is a more consistent…

half of mine taken out. other half happy and still with me. Take synthroid and still trying to get the dose correct.

Canada has different names for medications. My doctor has me take synthroid as it is the same dose for each pill, where as the generic and Armour can change with each bottle/pill. Thyroid can effect your heart, emotions, everything. Remember to wait 1 hour after taking synthroid before eating and take it with a glass of…

you look great! Gives me encouragement. I too am able to loose now.

I see you live in Canada.....didn't notice that before. Even with your good medical coverage I think you can change doc's if you can find one that can take you. A specialist frequently knows more then a g.p. If you are unable to find a doctor then at least have yours order more tests after a few months to see where your…

Run, do not walk to another doctor. You need to be followed much more closely until you are symptom free and your thyroid levels are more normal. Let us know where you live, one of us may have a doctor for you. I'm in San Francisco an have great doctors....they call (even after work), answer e-mails (within 2 hours…

my endocrinologist was willing to give me Armour, but also brought up the point the each batch is different. I'm on synthroid, brand name not the generic as that can also vary. I still have 1/2 of my thyroid and don't feel I need T3 replacement though my doctor did offer it if I felt I needed to have the medication. It…

My son refused to sit on the small toilet. He sat on the big one with his legs over the seat, facing toward the back of the toilet. It took 2-3 days and he was about 2 1/2 years old. I also used yogurt covered raisins, cookies, anything to get him to go! It worked. I also trained another kid at work in one try. when they…

I was on the same med and could not loose weight, did not feel well. Finally had to have surgery and 1/2 of thyroid removed. I'm great now. It is very difficult to have your thyroid out of balance. I found it impossible to loose weight....between constant low anxiety, increased appetite and food seeking behavior. Take a…

No one looks at you when you are overweight...not really look and think yum! It is a protection from all of that and it is gone! Well learn to live with a nice body. You will grow into the comfort of it. Scary and not as safe as over weight, but oh, so good to loose.! Congratulations on your loss and enjoy your new/old…

I live in California where I can get fresh fruits and vegetables all of the time. If I had to eat canned or frozen I probably would not eat the same. I am lucky. Ate some yummy asparagus fresh from the farmers market. Fresh oranges from the grove, just picked a few days ago....what a difference.

I agree. But some people need the diet religion. That is good for them, but not for me and possibly not for you! I totally ate too much for a few days. Then had a rich lima bean, barley vegetable soup and salad for dinner and still lost 1 1/2 pounds this week. I did a bit more exercise one day and the next day I had to…

Yes, find a new doctor who can diagnosis. These symptoms can be for hypothyroid, but they can also be for numerous other diseases as Lymes, Chronic Fatigue syndrome, Sarcoidosis, to name just a few. I wish you the best in finding a good doctor! I have had fatigue for about 16 years....learned how to live with it. The most…

I'm retired and LOVE it. Limited stress. Travel, help with native plant nursery, swim, walk dog, see friends, eat out, read the NY Times during the week, read anything that strikes my fancy, see family, plan meals, go to plays, opera.....really anything that I want! check with MFP daily!

With a kid.....no ring, no go. Too much stress for children. My son always came first, he is spoiled, but that is the way I like it. He is engaged to a wonderful woman. I live in a big city and life can be wild here, but kids come first if you don't want to mess up their emotional growth and their opinion of women. Being a…

Thyroid disease of any kind is not easy. It effects your weight, mood, everything. It will take a while to get things somewhat fixed. Be patient. You are doing the right things and going to an endocrinologist.

No gluten in my diet made me very sick, I tried the foods a few years ago. I appreciate all of your suggestions, but remember we are all individuals with different reactions. Some of us are dealing with multiple diseases. I always say--think out of the box---try different things and see what works. I find it difficult when…

I usually eat back my calories, but I only walk and do some limited warm water movement exercise. I usually have only about 100-200 exercise calories, so that is not a lot.I am not able to exercise due to other health problems. I still have 1/2 of my thyroid and also take synthroid. I think it depends on what your…

I thought about this for a day and realized that you are not eating any of your exercise calories. Your body metabolism is slowing down as your calorie intake is to low for the amount of exercise you are doing. Eat 5 small meals a day. Eat back most of your exercise calories. Don't try and rush the weight loss, this is a…

Everyone has offered great info and advice. I agree that you probably need some type of medicine, but it will take time to find out what works for you. It involves having a doctor, endocrinologist, who has an intimate knowledge of the meds. and who is able to listen to you and be sympathetic. It is good to be assertive…

I totally agree with the vit .B suggestion, get it from food is best. The generic of thyroid can vary my endocrinologist says and so she has me on the brand name synthroid. Hope you see your endocrinologist soon and you are feeling better. Was 1/2 or all of your thyroid taken out?
-
welcome. I just, 2 months ago, had 1/2 of my thyroid out as I was hyperthyroid. I am now able to control my eating and feel much better. I was lucky to have a world renowned surgeon who did a fantastic job. My recovery and medication has gone smoothly...though I was still a bit hyperthyroid and my endocrinologist just…

I wouldn't take both. My dermatologist specifically said rogaine for men. Not for women. I looked at the potential side effects and decided less hair was safer then rogaine.

thanks for the suggestions and information. My doc. mentioned that vitamin B increased growth of cancer cells in the colon so I stopped taking it immediately. Biotin is a form of B it seems, so that is not going to work. I think I will try the wait and see if it gets better, I have hope after the previous post that it may…
