Sorry things are not going well for you and the family. Kids know when things are rough and they behave even worse. Take yourself and the kids swimming, get everyone tired, go for a walk, to the park, anything to exhaust everyone. I have no suggestions for a husband as I have a dog and got rid of the other. My son always…

What is the newest fad. Shall we all try this one? How about eating while standing on one foot and rubbing your tummy? Couldn't hurt.

Possibly a lab error. I was hypo then became hyper and now after surgery with 1/2 removed am again hypo. This is an ongoing thing with the thyroid. If you have nodules that produce and then stop and then start again that could be the problem or???

You might need to change your dose, but your symptoms suggest that you may be low in Potassium. Are you eating a banana and or an orange daily? Fresh fruit is better then juice as less calories. Look on line for a list of other foods high in potassium. HCTZ causes you to loose potassium and your doc may have forgotten that…

I was found to have sleep apnea and the c pap helps and I'm not groggy all day. My endo added cytomel to a reduced dose of synthroid and I take it in the morning. I take cytomel 1/2 tab. at about noon also. I have a lot more energy with the cytomel and I'm not sleeping all afternoon when I take 1/2 of a pill at noon. Ask…

You may be eating foods that are causing gas as uncooked vegetables for some people and broccoli for some. Check what you eat when this happens. Possibly you need to consult with a g.i. doctor. I had gallbladder problems that went away when the gallbladder went away (surgically).

I was hyper until I had 1/2 of my thyroid removed (could not take radio active iodine and am very glad had surgery instead). I could NEVER loose weight. I was hungry ALL of the time and I gained a lot of weight. I was tired and irritable. I think for some it is very difficult to loose when you are hyper or hypo, but for…

My doc added cytomel and that helped. Levo. is only T4 I think and there are other hormones. Some people find the natural hormone works better for them. It seems to be hunt and peck and try different meds until your doc and you get it right. Are you seeing an endocrinologist, if not you might want to find a good one.

Happy you were able to have a good talk with your doc. I have found cytomel helps, but still feel sad at times, which is unusual for me. I take it in the A.M. and then again a small dose about noon to pick me up during the day. I am considering trying Armor, but also concerns about the variable dose with each batch. This…

I stopped taking vitamins. The newest studies say they are not helpful and can actually be harmful. Just eat good foods with the vitamins you need. I would be hesitant to change a diabetic plan from a stranger on the internet....having problems, talk to your M.D. , can't talk to the M.D. then change doctors and find one…

my best advice is to change to a specialist ASAP. I you don't like the first one change again. My endo started me on cytomel and I have more energy, but she says it does not work for everyone. You need someone who is a specialist, a G.P. or internist does NOT know how to deal with these issues I have found that out over…

I was hypo on meds for 40 years and then slightly hyper for 6 years. During BOTH times I gained weight. When I was hyper I was hungry all of the time and over ate. Now that I have had 1/2 of my thyroid out and am on synthroid and cytomel I am able to loose weight. I am unable to exercise a lot as I have other health…

Don't forget you have more then one type of thyroid hormone. Cytomel added to the synthroid will give a more of them. I found an increased in energy and a bit easier to loose weight. Everyone is different. See what your doc says. I'm not into diets what omit carbs or other fad diet things that some people on this board…

are you replacing your potassium? Are you eating a banana or orange every day? if not you are most likely low on potassium. Did your doc forget to tell you? Very typical for them to forget this VERY important thing. I was on it for years and always had trouble with my K until it stopped working and my medication was…

Welcome to the group! I have also been hypothyroid for 30 years and now with 1/2 half of my thyroid gone even more. I also was slightly hyper thyroid for the previous 6 years. I've been both, lucky me. Lost hair, tired, gained weight. Taking synthroid, brand name as is always the same dose which is not true for the…

Great job! I've fired a few doctors myself.

about 8 hours at night and sometimes 45- 1 hr. nap during the day. I have another health problem that causes fatigue, but I am napping a bit less since my doc added cytomel.

I can't give up carbs and I can't eat too much fat due to no gallbladder. I believe in balance and just reducing the amount that I eat, but keep the foods I love, just less of them.

I found that adding cytomel helped with weight loss as it gives you some of the other thyroid hormones. I gain weight when I am hypo and also when I am hyper (always hungry). It takes a LONG time to get the right dose and combination. My doc. orders blood testing about every 6-8 weeks until things will be where the blood…

sending hug. Hope you are feeling better

Very new study says Calcium tabs may be harmful. I prefer to get my vitamins from food. The more I read, the less vitamins I take. One after the other have proved not beneficial if not down right dangerous to your health. I stopped Ca as I have a problem with Ca and with Vitamin D sensitivity due to another disease.

I eat back some or all of the calories and am VERY slowly loosing.
-
been there, done that. I have been so used to over eating and being hungry all of the time from my thyroid that I am still learning how to eat now that my thyroid is 1/2 gone. It takes time to retrain yourself. You are normal, don't worry you will not start to grow extra digits or some such thing.

I only do walking daily with the dog. I do warm water movement, mild exercise...that is all. Do what you feel is best for you. Who cares what others want you to do. It is most important to change your eating habits and do some activity that you LIKE every day.

Get tested. It may be too high or it may be something else. Your doc may want to run a few other labs while he/she has the blood. It seems I go about every few months for tests as they are trying to get the dose right. Don't be shy to ask your doc, they are there for you! Sometimes I think the problem is one thing and the…

It is possible that you are not eating enough calories for the amount of exercise you are doing. Body goes into starvation mode and you will not loose weight. I also found that when my doc started me on cytomel that I started to loose weight and have a bit more energy.
-
Hang on. Armour is not a consistent dosage and can change from different batches my doc told me. She started me on cytomel along with my synthroid and I feel much better. I'm not sad, and have a bit more energy and am loosing weight. I suspect it is just the medications.

New study in the NY Times shows that vitamins are not great for women and are harmful. Get your vitamins from food, it's better. If you need more energy possibly explore cytomyl that has other thyroid hormones in it, that is if you are hypothyroid. I find it gives me more energy (just a bit) and helps with weight loss.…

Thanks for all of your comments. I am on 5mg and feel slightly stoned. Will have to see if it gets better after a week or two or will need to reduce the dose. I am extremely sensitive to all medications. Yes, I think my appetite is less since I started cytomel...that would be nice.
