Hi guys :) I'll be friends with anyone who wants to meet ppl on here, the more support the better!

I have read that multiple short workouts can be as effective as one long session. For awhile I was doing the same sort of thing on my breaks at work except doing stairs instead. Also, I keep hearing the suggestion that making small changes here & there can add up over time, leading to gradual weight loss over time (like…

My favorite snack! LOL It seems like whenever I start working out after not doing so for awhile, I am just starving all the time. Now that I'm into more of a routine, it seems like things have balanced out a bit. If anything, a lot of times I'll "earn" extra calories through exercise but then I'm not hungry enough to eat…

I've been trying to watch sodium as well since it is not good for blood pressure & high blood pressure runs in my family. It is difficult though because it seems like if you trade off on fat & calories, a lot of times there will be a lot of sodium or sugar in foods marketed as "healthy". Other people have encouraged me to…

I have found measuring myself to be helpful as well. I do weigh myself once a week but there have been times where I didn't lose any weight but I did lose inches, which was weird but encouraging. I've been trying to watch what I eat & exercise regularly but when my schedule gets busy it seems like exercise is the first…

Nice to meet you Donna. We have been doing a similar contest at my job as well. It is really helpful to have that accountability...and to know that my co-workers are going to scrutinize what I ate for lunch LOL.

It does seem practically impossible to completely cut out sugar, especially when it is naturally in fruits & veggies, and when it sneaks into things you wouldn't think of as being sweets. I'm trying to cut back a lot and check nutrition labels. I don't like artificial sweeteners so I try to look for things that just have…

That is a good way to look at it. Usually if I have something unhealthy, I try to work out later to balance it out...or if I am anticipating going out to eat or going to a party or something where I know I probably won't eat well, then I try to make sure I exercise a bit extra to make up for it. That takes away the guilt…

Nice to meet you :) My name is Laura, I joined MFP back in Jan but haven't really posted on here until recently but am realizing it's a great way to meet people.

I can relate to that. For the longest time I was pretty much oblivious to my gradual weight gain because I felt good about myself and being healthy just wasn't a priority for me. It wasn't until I had to take a health screening to sign up for my insurance that I realized how unhealthy I was & how bad my habits were.

Nice to meet you both :) I've been using MFP since Jan but haven't posted on here until now. I originally started out my weight loss plan with a group of people from work who were all trying to get healthy together, but some of them have dropped off since then. I figure the more people you can talk to who are going through…
