According to their website, there are products that are GMO-free. http://www.kashi.com/nongmo I'm glad that you let us know though. And your grocery store seems awesome that they would even take Kashi off the shelves for this reason since it's such a successful brand. Kudos to them. But like I said....according to Kashi,…

The only time I don’t count is when I know that I’m going to be getting inebriated. And this just includes things like weddings/bachelorette parties/birthday parties (if it’s out)/friends I don’t get to see often visiting(generally college friends)…etc. Stuff like that where I know that everyone is going to be drinking and…

I have noticed that a 'good night out' does set me back, but like I've said before I'm not willing to cut alcohol entirely out of my diet....I love beer too much and also like to unwind every once in a while. I am lucky though, I'm the youngest person in my office by about....15 years or so. So I'm not going out for drinks…

I'm 5'3" and my official 'goal' weight is 135. I'll have to wait and see what I look like anywhere from 140-125 though and would be happy with anything in that range as long as I felt good about the way I look.

I’ll bite…I’m getting antsy for summer anyway. First, your drink sounds awesome…I’ll have to try that. I’m obsessed with pina coladas….which is obviously not the most figure-friendly drink! I found a recipe that sounds like it’d be really good/refreshing (111 calories): 1 ounce Coconut flavored rum (I think…

No, they don’t retain the same benefits. Flax seeds are very small and have a very hard hull. You can’t really digest them, so in order to benefit from them you really do need to grind them up. I have a $12 basic coffee grinder that I use.

Also make sure to buy a brand that if packaged in an opaque package…not a clear one.

LOL. I, as well as you, like to have 1 (or 2 or 3…..) drinks on the weekend every now and then. I do find that it throws a giant wrench in my (usually consistent) weight loss but I deal with it b/c I’m not really willing to give it up! And it’s not every weekend anyway. You haven’t said whether your sig.other is…

BMR = Basal Metabolic Rate. The number of calories you would burn, just to stay alive. Like if you just laid in bed all day long….this is how many calories your body would need to survive. TDEE = Total Daily Energy Expenditure. This is how many calories your body need to function on a normal day for you, depending on…

I think the OP is trying to say that in the past, at Curves, they would weigh right before beginning the workout...and then weigh immediately after the workout. And that they weighed -more- afterwards....which makes sense to me at least b/c I would think everyone would be hydrating throughout their cardio workout. IFF (for…

So…I didn’t read ALL the responses. But, I have been, in the past one of the people that found it hard to eat enough calories when trying to ‘diet’. Part of the problem was ‘doing it on my own’ and not understanding really BMR/TDEE. I remember one time (pre-MFP) when I was trying to ‘eat healthy and work…

Same here too. =D There’s a woman on vacation right now and before she left she came in with 3 bags of fun sized Easter candy and said, “I brought this stuff in so you guys have some candy while I’m gone!â€â€¦â€¦Jeez! Good thing they are ‘fun sized’. I’ve done the same thing that others have…

Stores like Aldi and Trader Joes are good ways to spend less on groceries. The only thing about them is there's less of a variety of brands for the things you want to buy. For example, Aldi may not have 10 different brands of peanut butter, they might just have one b/c that's the one they got the best deal on ..... savings…

http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ -- That's the website I used, BMR=1693...then used the 'moderately active' (since you say you work out 6 days/week) multiplyer of 1.55 and you end up with 2,624 as your TDEE. So you would want to eat 750 less than your TDEE/day to lose 1.5lb/week.....I think. Make it an even…

When I started MFP..and started logging my calories I was almost 3 weeks late for a period. And I've never skipped since starting, and have always been pretty regular. I have no idea how many calories/day I was eating before I started logging what I ate, so I don't know if I dropped significantly but I know that there…

If your doctor thinks you are deficient in vitamins/minerals why didn’t he suggest that you take a multi-vitamin? I doubt that you aren’t getting enough nutrition or vitamins (I didn’t look at your diary). But it does make sense to me that you wouldn’t want to be on a calorie deficit while your body is trying to…

I have a desk job and the only times I'm 'officially allowed' out of my desk would be if I have to go to the bathroom, ask someone a question, or when I'm on my official break (2 15min breaks, and a 30 minute lunch). Numbers, numbers, numbers! =D So 8hrs of work + about an hour and 45 minutes spend driving to and from.…

There is a show called Food Detectives, on Cooking Channel... the host is the same host from Chopped (Ted Allen). They sort of modeled it after Mythbusters but it's all to do with food. They did test it and found that it would burn more calories if you drank ice cold water (because your body has to heat it up to body temp.…

Big Fish I’m usually drawn to entertainment (books [The Night Circus!], movies) that meld fantasy and reality. I think the imagery is beautiful. There are too many scenes that are staggeringly beautiful that I can’t pick a favorite; Time stopping for love at first sight? Proposing in a field of daffodils? Seeing the town…

Best animated film I’ve seen….. --I also love all of Hayao Miyazaki’s films =D But with the mention of Anime movies…. I recently watched 5 Centimeters Per Second (which is a very beautiful love story), and it has very beautiful animation too. It reminded me of a dream.

Sounds good to me. =D Thanks! Anyone else have any seeds of wisdom? I just have this sick/anxious feeling that the first day I try to do something to get back on track with jogging, I’m going to be in pain again and wish I hadn’t done anything or had a better plan….. maybe I’ll cut the C25K program in ½, and go for 10 (or…

I must get a foam roller too I guess. Ice and anti-inflammatory if it gets acutely bothered by something I've done. And a good healthy slather of Icy/Hot. =D Here's some stretches and strengthening exercises I've found make me feel better: http://runningtimes.com/Article.aspx?ArticleID=6099&PageNum=1 I also will lay on my…

I just asked a question about running after an injury as well. DO NOT run/jog on your injured/painful ankle! I haven’t been able to jog for over a month b/c I injured myself….and probably will be another few weeks before I can start again. You don’t want to be put down for that long, plus it hurts…! Rest/Ice (15min on,…

I haven’t made a conscious decision to stop drinking alcohol since beginning my weight loss. I don’t drink often though. -I don’t give myself regular ‘cheat’ days though, I just try to stay at my calorie goal for the day. So if I know I’m going to be visiting friends, going to a wedding/bachelorette party, birthday, or…

I used to go to Snap Finess and I think it was around $35/month for 24 hour access, plus they had a couple trainers working there who basically spend one whole day with you and asked what your goals were and basically made you a workout routine (that you could follow or not follow) to meet your goals for free. I don't go…

OK...I'm not a doctor or dietician or nutritionist.....Disclaimer, LOL =D But, if you are 5'2" your healthy weight range is between 108-121----> I say this because in your picture you look like you qualify as a 'small framed' women. =D I think the doc saying 105 is OK is fine too...I would say anything less than 100 would…

I eat at least my BMR....and I get why that's important. But I think MFP should be set so it DOESN'T give users a suggested NET calorie intake that goes below their BMR. My suggested net calorie intake when I first joined was set at 1200 cal/day. And that was before I lost any weight, and I didn't set it to lose 2lbs/wk…

First of all…have fun! New Orleans is soooo amazing. The atmosphere, art, food, and music is all amazing! I would love to go back and spend more time there. As far as food, seafood, seafood, SEAFOOD! =D Unfortunately there are plenty of seafood dishes that are probably not low calorie but I don’t think you should restrict…

I totally count water with ‘drink mixes’ as drinking water. I’d wouldn’t have any water on my diary if I didn’t….I usually don’t drink plain water (other than during/after a workout…I’ll drink plain ice water). I have a 32 ounce water bottle that I keep right next to me on my desk at work. I drink it constantly (and go to…

I only have a treadmill at home and it doesn’t let you input your height/weight before you start your workout (some of them do, and encourage you to take your heart rate during the workout so it can give you an accurate-ish measurement of calories burned). So, even without knowing my height/weight….my treadmill’s calories…
