IF you are going to drink alcohol, log it...I do that every single time (keeps me honest and still on track)...THEN make sure to drink a glass of water (a nice 16 ounce glass of it is great) after the alcoholic drink. A friend of mine is a professional wine maker and wine judge and she taught me that many years ago..glass…

Your weight gain could be from any number of things....water retention (it happens to all of us girls a few times a month), muscle building -- when you start working out with weights or do circuit training the muscles start to build and the scale will budge up just a bit...don't worry, though..building lean muscle is a…

That's an AMAZING accomplishment! You should be VERY proud of yourself....cause we sure are!!! You look fantastic...and if you're not excited about it, pick up 5 - 10 pound bags of potatoes at the same time---yep...that's what you lost and what your joints don't have to carry around anymore...and what your heart doesn't…

Fantastic job!!!

I'm 5'11" with an athletic build and as my dad used to put it, I have "turkey legs" (so the upper thigh is really muscular and I have NO calfs!)....Lost A LOT of what I should have never put on in the first place and have about 27 more pounds to go to my goal weight of 160. Isn't it great being a tall girl and able to…

If you can find the restaurants information on MFP, then plan your meal that way. Also, check to see if they have a menu online before you go and plan your meal accordingly. Since they do have salads, that would be the healthiest way to go...and most restaurants will accomodate your dietary needs and requests/requirements.…

Welcome, Welcome! And there is so much support here, they are just wonderful. If you have an Android phone, put the app for MFP on it and use it....it's really helped me a LOT! (in fact, went to dinner with my trainer tonight and logged my food right in front of him) And sit down with the "head of the household" and have a…

I'm so glad I saw this post! Mine go numb after about 35 minutes on the Precor Eliptical thing...and while on the treadmill they go numb in the area that the conveyor "lines" are under the belt. I have three different pair of shoes that I wear and it happens with each pair.... I will wiggle my toes when I'm on the Precor…

Thanks so much you guys..really appreciate the support. Started looking up menu choices for similar restaurants (Benihana, Kobe Steakhouse)...so I think I have my choice down pat. And the brown rice option is a GREAT one!! I just have to watch the noodles...been craving pasta a LOT lately, which is odd cause I'm not a…

I will do Grey Goose Vodka and Club Soda with lime and lemon....and I log each ounce....that seems to be the best one for me. But I do miss beer---A LOT!

Welcome Maria....this is a great group here...we all have the same goal...everyone is very friendly as well. Enjoy and welcome aboard

I've been with my personal trainer off and on for years now and he has become a very close friend during that time. Not only does he help me with my goals, issues I might have with things that hurt a little more than they should (a 46 year old learning to run for the first time in her life tends to have a knee issue from…

Protein shake made with skim milk and some fresh fruit for flavoring....that will help add some of those calories for you. And you can pretend it's a Pina Colada at the Super Bowl party! :)

And they seem to be the most sore the day after you work them....BUT, working your core will make you stand up straighter (naking you look taller and more slender) and honestly help your form when you're doing your weight training... I absolutely DESPISE doing planks, but have found that they are VERY effective for…

I've had the same problem, since I work out after work....but I've started doing something that my mom did to us kids when we were little...after dinner is done and the dishes cleaned and put away, she would turn out the kitchen lights and announce, "the kitchen is closed". Don't know why it occurred to me to start saying…

Currently a loose 16 Goal is a 10 No fantasy size cause I'm healthiest at a 10/12 (being almost 6 feet tall makes anything less than that make me look anorexic)

Don't give up...keep at it and the weight will come off. You don't want it all coming off quickly because that is not safe. And remember, we are all here for you!! :)

just keep logging your foods and exercise...and keep checking in....everyone here is great! They will keep ya motivated!

I am in the gym for 90 minutes every other day...I go after work cause I am NOT a morning person :) I figure that the extra hour or so I'm in the gym is an extra hour or so that I'm not plopped in front of the television being inactive. And in the interest of full disclosure, my daughter is almost 21 and in her own place,…

This is exactly what my trainer has me do...35 minutes of cardio followed by his plan for strength training for me every other day..on the non strength training days it's 60 minutes of cardio....taking one day off per week. And using different cardio equipment tends to break up the cardio monotony for me (since I'd much…

I am in the gym 6 days a week...cardio each day and lifting weight, etc. every other day....I regularly go to Sam's Club or Costco and get their large packages of Tilapia from the fresh meat/seafood area as well as boneless, skinless chicken breast or tenders. Then I fire up the charcoal grill on a Sunday and cook it all.…

You've got to eat some protein and carbs after a hard workout to feed those muscles...can be something light..or even a protein shake. My trainer makes sure I do that and it really helps me feel better. I, like you, work out later than I'd like, but I follow his advice. And no, I do not eat all of the leftover exercise…
