I felt this way when I was single (yes, because of a traumatic experience). When I met my husband, he was totally supportive of my weight, no matter WHAT it was. When I started losing weight, at first he said "don't lose TOO much", and I worried that it would drive a wedge between us. Now, with almost 70 pounds gone, my…

I have funky looking legs. I have highly defined quads (so THAT'S what they're supposed to look like), but the area right above that is still lumpy and soft...how the heck does one fix that?
-
Are you getting enough protein and fat? They keep me feeling much more satisfied than carbs ever did.
-
Carbs lead to craving more carbs. Have you tried increasing your protein and fat intake? When I have enough protein and fat, I hardly ever get that "I'm starving" feeling.

Hi Ladies, I've been on this journey since October, and I'm now down 67 pounds (10-15 to go) :) I am more than happy to provide support and encouragement, so feel free to send me a friend request. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter

Grrr, I was trying to upload some photos, but no luck. Oh well.
-
Congrats to you as well! I'm trying to figure out how to post photos to show my evolution.

I really appreciate this post, because I have noticed that I get into that mode too. I have a LONG way to go before I get to your progress, and that is not something that I plan to do. I started at 232, and I'm at 175 right now...I feel awesome, but I'm still "overweight" by BMI standards. My final goal is 155, which would…

Yay, congrats! I've done that twice now...loving it :)

Congrats to you! I celebrated big time when I hit the "overweight" category :) Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Weight Loss Tools

Instead of going full-on paleo, why not try cutting out "white" foods? I gave up flour, rice, and starches, but I still enjoy string cheese and greek yogurt (and the occasional ice cream or gelato). Seems to be working for me :) I know that I have a LOT more energy since giving up the simple carbs. It really doesn't have…

I'm dealing with this right now, too. My feet were even swollen for a couple days. I've been eating bananas to try to flush out the excess sodium. Good luck to you!

This! I'm finally there again. What we all need to remember is that there is no such thing as a "standard size" anymore. My jeans are a 12, the work pants I have on today are a 14, and I have a pair of walking shorts that are a 2! What matters is being healthy...I can haul my butt up 5 flights of stairs and not be gasping…
-
Absolutely! I'm a size 14 now, and I think I'm super close to going down to a 12...I would be perfectly happy there. My goal weight is 170 (I started at 232). Let's hear it for the curvy girls! PS, feel free to add me if you want another curvy friend that isn't starving herself :)

This! Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than getting an unexpected "woah, you've lost a ton of weight!" from coworkers...especially the males :)

My clothes that were too tight 2 months ago are now getting too big :)

Naked, right after I get done working out and ready to hit the showers.

Way to go! You really look fantastic.

I have lost 50 pounds by avoiding breads, pastas, rice, etc. I agree that temporarily going low-carb is not a sustainable way to lose weight. That's why I don't intend to start eating them again. I have found wonderful substitutions, and 7 months into this diet, I do not miss the carbs. At all. Feel free to friend me if…

I just got mine last night...I was suprised to see that I had already walked 2500 steps as of 7:30am!

Any fad diet is usually a setup for failure. I try not to be "preachy" about carbs, but I know what worked for me: 1. Laying off of the refined carbs (bread, pasta, rice, etc.). The complex carbs are what I really need. 2. Loading up the veggies and eating a reasonable amount of lean protein and good fats. 3. Trying to eat…

It's all about willpower :) Now, when they had dark chocolate covered marshmallows in the breakroom...I mean...how do you say "no" to having one of those?!
-
For what it's worth, I didn't detect any snarkiness in your original post. Coworkers, friends, and family members can be the BIGGEST diet busters if we're not careful. They think they're helping...

I just tell them "thanks, but no thanks." Now that I'm showing major results, they are starting to come to me to ask what I'm eating, etc. They make sure to point out when there is fresh fruit, though :) Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter

 These have been some very interesting and appreciated thoughts, so thank you everybody! Please feel free to send me a friend request if I haven't grossed you out too much. One can never have too big of a support network.

Great, that is so good to know! The only problem I have is that I have a 1/2 hour commute on a van...is it safe to take this and then have to ride for a distance? I don't want to regret successfully moving things along too quickly :embarassed:

When I started on Paleo, I wasn't paying attention to calories. I added MFP back in when I hit my plateau in February (but I was already down over 20 pounds at that point).
-
Honey, he didn't dump you because you're fat....he obviously has WAY more issues than you need to deal with, and this is all about him. You are way better off without someone like that in your life. Keep on trucking, and you'll get there...and eventually, you'll find somebody that deserves you.

I have a tendency to believe that too. Monsanto is eeeevil. We try to cook as whole as possible. Other than my little can of tuna, I try not to eat processed or refined foods if I can help it. Except for the occasional ice cream, of course :)
-
I don't take supplements, but I see what you're saying. I was told previously that I wasn't getting ENOUGH fiber and protein, so that's why I increased it (used to have the vegetables without tuna for lunch). It seems like every time I turn around, the recommendations have changed.
