  • How inspirational you are! Congratulations on the weight goal, and even more congrats on your new fitness goals! It's so neat that you are talking about improving your physique because it helps us all remember that "weight" by itself isn't really what is important. Healthy is what we're after, and you don't get healthy…
  • Agreed. I know people who are 400+ lbs. Some of them have the emotional makeup that allows them to work out around so-called normal sized people without any angst. I know others with a more sensitive nature who have literally been told by people that "Just looking at you disgusts me." Those kind of comments are devastating…
  • That is flat-out AWESOME!! Well done!
  • Oh goodness yes! Look how much your stomach and upper arms have shrunk - and if I'm not mistaken, your posture seems better, too? Hope you''re enjoying the journey - keep it up! You're doing fabulously well!
  • Pie, cookies, and ice cream are all weaknesses of mine. If there is a cheesecake within 2 miles, I can smell it - and I absolutely have to have it (or so I think momentarily). Good substitutes are cantelope, strawberries, PB2, and protein shakes that taste very similar to various DQ Blizzards.
  • My Uncle Sam (yes, I really do have an uncle named Sam) harnessed the strength of many animals to make the farm pay enough to keep everyone fed, sheltered, and healthy. Horses, dogs, chickens, cows, rabbits, even worms had their job on the farm. He never worked any of them harder than he worked himself. We are each able to…
  • Good for both of you! Well done - that is a fabulous accomplishment, and you have every right to be proud of yourself and your wife.
  • You haven't seen my house! Bahhhaahahahahahah!
  • [munch munch munch] Popcorn anyone? This is getting good... [munch munch munch]
  • This X 2. In pursuing my degree, in classes filled with people from ages 20 through 50+, we were required to work in teams and a good portion of our grade relied on a good team effort. Many of our assignments were research-based thesis writing. In my team was a young man, in his 30s I believe, whose first submission to our…
  • Bullying really is horrible and I'm sorry she had to deal with that. Please let her know it happens wherever bullies exist, even to older folk. I had somebody refer to me yesterday as a "douchey type" - and I feel badly for her that she's so insecure within herself that she feels the need to say such things about me, when…
  • I'm in total agreement with the OP.... and I'm biting my tongue not to do the very same thing. I try hard not to "grade papers"' when on a message board. But when the person posting a message is obviously highly intelligent and they make a grammatical error, the impulse is to... quietly, privately... ask if the error was a…
  • Here's a random observation -- look at the pic the OP posted. Does her hand look noticeably lighter-skinned than the rest of her? Subsequent pics seem to have the same effect, tho less pronounced. That's so weird! She's a drop-dead-gorgeous fitness model and, even though my own goals don't include a six-pack abs effect, it…
  • That's cool Rachel - just playing around and having some fun. Life's too short not not laugh at every opportunity. :flowerforyou:
  • DING DING DING DING! We have a winner, folks!
  • Oh - and I've always sweated profusely - Degree has been working for me so far. And what's wrong with "icles"??? I've had some of the best times of my life with things that end in "icle" - PUUHHHLEEEZE!
  • Wrong Wrong Wrong! They are called "breasticles" - please use the correct anatomical references. <giggle>
  • I'll echo what the first responder said: DyanCB wrote this: That is very good advice. As for any hurtful things others may write - the best thing to do is take the good, motivational responses and let them help you cope with the occasional mistake we all make. The rest are just noise - if it doesn't help you, tune it out.…
  • You are such an inspiration! Well done - and congrats on a remarkable achievement. Keep doing what you're doing, because you look absolutely amazing.
  • Love this thread - OP, thanks for posting. Making my Christmas list from what I learn here. :flowerforyou:
  • I'll echo this, also - however I do still get Spark emails with recipes and exercises. I've got no plans on discontinuing those. I can't stand the site layout and functionality, and never found a supportive group or usable tool there like I have here. :flowerforyou:
  • Non Scale Victory - a good thing that you notice about yourself that indisputably proves you are getting more fit and healthy, without resorting to the scale, which often lies to us. :flowerforyou:
  • Two words for you: Buy Used! I am - either that or at places that have enormous discounts like Kohl's. Oh sorry - one more word for you -- CONGRATULATIONS!
  • Precisely! Spoken like a true patriot!
  • I did do this last weekend - and it was truly a great feeling. I've only lost 14 lbs but I'v'e dropped 21.5 inches over my body. That equates to 2 dress sizes. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I tried on size 18s and found that was my new size!
  • You're more than 50% of the way to your goal. Please don''t allow yourself to react emotionally to the actions of others - you're doing great! Their behavior does not have to dictate your own. Make some new friends (there are many of us available) and keep going - you're worth it! :flowerforyou:
  • How inspiring you are! Thanks for posting and I hope you believe it now - you DO have every right to post a success story! Look at you! Keep up the great work!
  • If you've been on a VLCD, you could be losing hair as a result. Otherwise, I'd look at your hormone levels. My daughter (also in her 30s) had a thyroid issue recently that resulted in a large goiter growing in her throat. She lost half her thyroid but would have had to go on synthroid anyway because her symptoms were so…
  • The only possible caveat I could add to what others have said is that if you have a medical condition that requires you to eat first thing in the morning - or if your metabolism is severely damaged and you are working with a nutritionist to repair the damage and get it to begin performing again - then you might truly…
  • You are absolutely amazing - and you're telling a story I hope to repeat in the future. Thanks for your example of taking direct responsibility for your own choices. It's a struggle every day, and I'm trying to do the same thing, too. You must know how very much it helps to have such a motivating example that this CAN be…
