I used to believe in cheat days - but I don't anymore. For me, all they did is remind me of all the things that put me where I am today.....and make me continue to miss them the rest of the week. I've recently decided that I'm probably a sugar/fat-aholic. I am sooo much happier now that I just don't allow myself to indulge…

Debbie - you are so right about using the word 'losing'. Too funny! I definitely don't want to 'find' anything I've lost in this journey!! Barbiecat - your post about the wonderful diversity of this topic was so right on the mark and it touched my heart. I hadn't ever really thought about why this thread is so good but…

I'm still here - but I've been terrible about posting lately. I'm still getting my exercise done every day and have been doing well at staying within my calories. This weekend was tough because we went out for dinner with friends. I wish I could have read Debbie's post before I went! I'm definitely using her advice the…

LOL - saw this and had to post. I am built exactly like my mother. She carries all her weight around the middle - thin legs, nice arms. So I work really really hard to keep my weight were it is supposed to be so I don't look like an apple on toothpicks. HA! She never exercised and I do so I hope that will make a difference…

Had an awesome day.....felt strong so when I was at the Y I did a spinning class, walked on the track and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. 90 minutes later I'd burned 700 calories!! YEA! That ought to move that dang scale! So many new people - it's hard to keep up with all the new posts! But I love it! Welcome to everyone…

Brady - great job with the trainer! What fun! Birdie - Hang in there - you have the right attitude - it's just trying to apply it that can be tough sometimes. But I know you can do it. You're not going to let them dictate how you feel about things. It's so nice to have a place like this that you can vent and have people…

mynyddisamrs - what a hoot! I love the new potato sack exercise!! My DH also got a laugh out of it. He was actually standing there with his arms out as I read the 5# bag part saying how hard it would be!

So many new people! I love it! I've been a member of MFP for awhile now and it wasn't until I found this thread that I really felt the support of the site. Thanks to all of you for that! Only me and my DH tonight for the superbowl so that will make my snacking choices quite easy. YEA! More snow here today - ugh. I think…

Birdie - I set my numbers at 55% carbs, 30% protein, 15% fat. Very different than what the default is but I find it works well for me. I did a bunch of reading on the internet to determine my numbers and set them this way because I lift heavy weights twice a week in addition to my cardio workouts. I also set my fat very…

I'm back on track after my "weak" weekend. YEA! I saw a couple of posts about how hard it is to stay at 1200 calories when you don't exercise in a day. Boy can I relate to that! That's why I try to make sure that I do at least a little something every day so I can eat a little bit more. When I can't I make sure I drink a…

Louise - thanks! You are so right that I need to focus on the memories I made with my son instead of the fact that I overate. I am such a perfectionist and so competitive that I lose my focus on my priorities quite easily and get down in the dumps. Maybe staying focused on my blessings instead of my downfalls should be one…

It's so good to be back reading posts after my weekend away. Unfortunately - I resorted to my bad habits over the weekend. We ate out at restaurants that were void of good choices, there were cookies and other things to nosh on while we were painting and moving my son. I did not weigh in this morning - I have some hard…

Kathy - Your post touched me. I'm so glad you felt that this was a safe place to blog and get things out. It's the first step. Sounds like you have wonderful support from your husband. And it sounds like you are a talented lady! A lot of us have been where you're at at one time or another and you CAN change things. You're…

Debbie - you are so inspirational to me! Thanks for your posts! Lynn - Hang in there - it's never easy to see your parents failing and it's great that you can be of help to them. Weigh in tomorrow - I'm hoping the scale will move down for me!
-
SuzyQ - ride a bunch for me! I would love to be riding outside! Gonna be a few more months before that will happen. Gama - welcome! You'll love this site! Debbie - LOVED your description of weighing in! I hope I have that kind of luck when I weigh in next! Life has been crazy lately - my youngest son has his car…

Hi Everybody! Life has been hectic lately so I haven't been posting or reading like I want to - but it looks like everyone is hanging in there pretty well this month! YEA! I'm proud of all of us! I've been staying under my calories, drinking my water and exercising 6 days a week and I'm seeing results so I'm pretty excited…
-
tootsie - I echo the tip on eating at least 1200 calories a day - and making sure that they are quality calories with protein and fiber to help you stay full. You'll learn a lot from the posts on this site so read as many as you can from all different topics. Hope everyone had a great weekend - if not - this moment is…
-
Fabfifty - you could still lift some weights for arms and shoulders (use canned goods if you don't have hand weights), sit on the floor and do straight leg - leg lifts to strengthen your thighs and of course - crunches of all kinds. Just keep moving..... DebbieW - great job on your first week! Keep it up! committed - I'm…

Welcome to all the new names and faces! You're going to love this place -everybody is really supportive and we all seem to be going through the same things. Winter has me going crazy. More snow - below zero windchills. I think I'm getting to old for this. On the upside - shoveling out the end of the drive after the…

Today was a struggle. Everything that happened at work seemed to push my "go fill your face" buttons. I did manage to resist though and just kept chugging down my water. Got in a good workout on the bike after work which helped me burn off stress and put me in a better frame of mind. Thank goodness for exercise! I let my…

So Mom got out of the hospital today and I got her settled and made my way back home. It's great to be back in my own house and I'm looking forward to being back into a regular routine. I did fine while I was gone though - exercised every day, logged my calories and stayed within my limits. YEA!
-
Kathy - Here is what happened to me so that you may avoid my mistake! :flowerforyou: I looked at 'turning 50' as the final destination of my diet. I apparantly had the fantasy that if I could lose the weight by the time I turned 50 - that I'd be home free or something. I just never considered what my next step should be!…
-
Susan - you sound just like me! I lost a bunch of weight for my "50th"a few years ago and then proceeded to put it all back on. And my husband is skinny and can eat a dozen cookies in one sitting and not gain a pound. Ugh! Good for you for opting out of lunch out. It all starts with those kind of decisions!! Way to go girl!
-
april - thanks for the post - I just started the shred and was wondering if anybody else did more than one workout at a time. I usually work out for longer so while the 20 minutes is certainly intense - I kind of felt like I was just getting warmed up. (Even though my body told me different the next day! :ohwell: ) Anybody…

Mom is still in the hospital but doing much better. I've been staying at her place and traveling back and forth to the hospital in -26 degree weather today. Yuck! Does shivering burn any calories??? I've been getting my workouts in and eating right. I carry a water bottle with me all the time - try putting a half…

Wanted to add to my post to Renny.....It actually was a good thing to read her post and then reply. I had my day turned upside down and had to travel 90 miles to be with my 88 year old mom who went into the hospital with congestive heart failure this morning. I'll be out of town for 3-4 days with her and I was trying to…

Renny - You just decide. And then sometimes a minute later you decide again. It's all about choices and the decisions we make. You can do it - just decide!!

Happy New Year everybody! I jumpstarted my new year last week. Just bought the 30 Day Shred dvd that I'll start today. I made good progress when I was diligent in logging on this site so now I'm back and ready to finish out getting to my goal weight and then maintaining it in 2010 and beyond with the support and motivation…

Ok - I just bought the dvd tonight so I'm going to start tomorrow. Pretty excited about it and it will be fun to moan and groan with everyone as we get stronger!!
