I have the same JC Penny sweater in green. I cut off the side ties. I love the color of yours too but I was on a limited budget the day I was there. Anyway, it is a nice sweater and you look pretty in it (as well as in your other outfits). Thank you for sharing. I may do this one of these days as well because it is fun to…

Terrific results and a great motivator to keep at it!

Last night on the road we came apon another car that had just hit a cat. I don't know if it was a prayer but I directed my energy to wishing for peace for the cat as well as the people who accidentally hit it. My family says a type of gratitude prayer before dinner. I try to use positive self-talk as affirmations. A funny…

Search for the vegetarian groups on this site for lots of great meal ideas!

Goodness, you are both glowing with good health and attractiveness!
-
Really terrific job - you earned those fabulous results!
-
Great job! My whole family is not converting, but I make sure there are lots of yummy plant-based dishes at the table at meal times. My family is watching my progress though . . . :)

Thank you for posting this!

That is great progress -- congratulations!

I've transitioned to a plant-based (no animal products) diet with no problems and I have done it for health reasons. This is the decision I came to after doing my own research and experimentation, it is right for me, and no one is going to convince me I am "doing it all wrong." Those kind of statements are good for a laugh…

You have done so many of the right things: acknowledging the unconditional love of your family, trusting them and being honest with them when you needed help, making a new start for your safety and for your son, participating here. I am not good with advice but I think there is a core part of you that is very strong and…

Interesting - thanks!

And that was the laugh I needed for this afternoon - thanks! I think the guy has been interviewed about his viral photo, not the dog or the horse though . . .

Another 4x per week exerciser here. Great results, congratulations!

I applaud your efforts to improve your health. I also did a juice fast and unlike what was predicted by some responders, I am still here and doing great. What happens is a lot of us move to groups on this site for people who are interested in this approach. There are at least two:…

Yay for no longer starving yourself or eating the wrong foods, and yay for the terrific results!

Cheers for your fitness and health achievement! You've surpassed the magic 10% loss that so many experts recommend.

There are several vegetarian and vegan groups on this site that you may want to search for and check into.

Your story is a good example of why we should never judge others. We don't know what they have been through. My sister also lost her first son after 12 days due to a chromasome disorder. She has been overweight since that time although she does so many of the right things, eats healthy food, and is a great exerciser. She…

Beautiful before and after, but sincere congratulations on increasing your health and fitness!

Okay, I looked back at my food diary and those nuts I added to my meals added nothing to my protein intake. I got more from whole grains and soy milk.
-
I made a skillet of vegetables (onions, mushrooms, asparagus) and threw in some cashews for crunch. I also add pecans and sunflower seeds to my spinach salad. I do have a tough time meeting my protein requirement so on exercise days, I supplement with Vega One protein powder.

I enjoyed the movie, changed my lifestyle, and don't miss dairy at all! There is a group on MFP specific to this movie: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/2104-forks-over-knives

Seriously great progress, so adorable and such a great choice to get fit and healthy!

Okay, I was going with an unrealistic body fat target based on the website you provided. I will shoot for 24% (currently 36.6%) which gives me a target weight of 132 (currently 158). Thanks again for the information!

I remember Dr. Fuhrman (Eat To Live) states that protein requirements are often in excess of what is really needed, but I don't remember him applying this to people trying to gain muscle. I would like to hear others chime in on this topic because I have wondered about this too. I guess the main thing for me in to see what…

You are now so tiny! Looking good. :)

Congratulations!

I think it is because of the emphasis here on MFP on strength training for optimum health and physical improvement. The two books I read (New Rules of Lifting for Women and You Are Your Own Gym) specify at least 1gm of protein per lb of lean body weight. I agree that strength training seems to provide great results and…
