  • I will be 3 years post op in June 2015 and eat around 1300 cals a day. I have three meals a day and a AM snack, afternoon snack and sometimes PM snack. I try to work out at gym 3-4 times a day for 1 hour to burn off 400 plus cals a workout and do not eat back my exercised burned off calories. I track all food, beverages,…
  • I just recently bought a moving comfort Mia style and love it. It is an underwire. I tried an Enell bra on when I was very overweight and just trying to get it on and all those hooks on the front had me worn out! I haven't tried one since loosing my weight since no store locally carries them and I would have to go 90 miles…
  • I only add stuff like shoveling snow, raking leaves, push mower lawn mowing that is more than cleaning the house type chores. I don't eat back my exercise calories back so it really doesn't matter to me. I just like to see what I have burned in cals when going to gym or doing activities that are more than usual everyday…
  • I will be 3 years post op sleeve in June this year. I don't get tired. I have alot of more energy than I ever did before at 280 pounds. I don't mind tracking all my food, liquids, vitamins and exercise either on MFP. I have logged in for over 3 years every day. Even when I was in the hospital after sleeve surgery I logged…
  • This post wasn't directed at you. If you read it again. It was directed to JPW1990, now I remember why I don't post to the forums on here.............
  • She is a state licensed, masters degree educated and works for the local medical center/hospital. What is your education and license on your expertise?!?!?! Please share your qualifications on this.............
  • My nutritionist says a person needs 125 grams of carbs a day and to eat good carbs and not processed foods with bad carbs. Fiber carbs are good as they are not processed like other carbs in the body.
  • My nutritionist told me that a person needs 130 grams of carbs a day for healthy brain function. If you don't get that many a day you will be lacking. Eat good carbs and not junk carbs. Less processed carbs.
  • I have a fit bit one I've had since Feb 2013 and Polar FT7 since Summer 2013. I use them both at the gym and the fit bit is on me in my waking hours. The fit bit only tracks steps walked and flights of stairs. The HRM is much more useful but only to be used during workouts not every day life. If I had to buy again I would…
  • I had WLS Gastric sleeve 6/11/12 and met my personal weight goal in April 2013. I lost 47 pounds pre op and lost as much as 109 post op and was as low as 124 when I started maintenance. It is usual for WLS people to gain back 10 to 15% of their weight when they start adding calories in and go into maintenance mode my WLS…
  • I guess I just haven't found the right sports bra yet. Every one I have tried on isn't as supportive as my regular bra so I just wear a reg wired bra. My test is when I try on a sports bra I run in place in the fitting room. I've tried alot of styles and price points so far and can't a good supportive one. Any suggestions?…
  • I only use my Polar FT7 at the gym for workouts only. It isn't worn all day in my normal daily life. The fitbit one I have I wear all the time. It only picks up steps taken and flights of stairs. It won't pick up bike riding, the elliptical ect... If you look at your fit bit when you wake up you have already burned some…
  • Wow. What a response. I'm am now really confused. I've been logging in here since Feb 2012 every day. Yes I measure my food. Yes I log all of it the good and the bad I use a Polar FT7 heart rate monitor at my gym and it's pretty a curate and I input my own cals burned in her and not use MFP ones that are over inflated. I…
  • Yes I do. I was sick yesterday and didn't go to work and it was my usual work out day since I took Tuesday off but I didn't go.
  • I found these at my local Big Lots over the weekend: Kashi Black Bean crisps in BBQ and Chili Lime. Kashi Black Bean Crisps 27 crisps: 130 calories, 3.5g fat, 160 - 200mg sodium, 21g carbs, 4g fiber, <1 - 1g sugars, 4g protein -- PointsPlus® value 3* I bought the BBQ flavor and only one bag. I now see they are discontinued…
  • So you are saying working out won't effect my weight loss? I know in order to loose weight you have to restrict your calorie intake or keep it at a certain level. I have heard you need to work out with cardio at least 30 minutes a day for weight loss or maintenance of weight loss. This isn't true then? Thanks!
  • Try walking to start out. Leslie Sansone has Dvds you can do at home. Level surface and you can walk in your pjs if ya want! You can also view them for free on youtube.com Once you get to doing more you can more in. Walking is low impact. If you can do stuff in a pool that is great too and you won't hurt as bad. Good luck!…
  • Thanks for all the information. I think for now I will continue to do my elliptical in 10 min intervals with the weights mixed in just to break up the workout and time seems to go by quicker doing it that ways anyways. I can't see any harm in it and I seem to burn a few more cals that way too. Thanks again!
  • It can hinder some workouts but don't let it keep you from not working out or going to the gym. Everyone is going to the gym to get fit so don't feel bad. I had never even stepped foot into a gym in my entire lifetime till Jan 2013. I had lost about 130 pounds by then but still felt nervous. I had done a treadmill and…
  • Thanks for the information. I don't usually eat any of my calories burned back anyways so it is more of a tracking thing for me than anything at this point. I do the strength training more for firming up and building muscle than for calorie burn. I keep the Polar FT7 on for my entire workout and only pause it between the…
  • Ok, I didn't think it was true HIIT from what I have read. HIIT is doing the same exercise or cardio at fast level to bring HR up and then slower period of cardio to bring it back down. I've tried that but I just can't slow down that much on the elliptical to get my HR back to a resting or lower rate. I usually keep it at…
  • The gym I go to has limited "free weights" and I am not for sure what to do with all them besides the few exercises I have done in the past with them. Also the free weight section of this gym is crowded and used the time I go to the gym by alot of younger people. I don't think I could even use any of them the times I…
  • To loose weight. I have gained back some weight after loosing alot and hitting my personal goal in Spring 2013. I can only be on a cardio machine for 30 min cause I get bored. The elliptical seems to burn the most cals for me, 30 min 300 cals burn according to my Polar FT7 HRM watch. I am not an athlete. I have bad knees…
  • MFP used to let you do this but they changed it. You can go into "settings" and set your cals to a different amount and it should then or at least it used to back in 2012 and 2013, 2014 when my goal was like 800 cals , 900 cals & 1000 cals. Someone said you can add calories to your diary then complete it then go back in…
  • I got rid of all mine except one pair of pants to remind me of how big I was. I took alot to clothing consignment stores and got a % of the money they sold for. What was taken by the consignment stores, I donated to my local domestic violence shelter for the survivors of domestic violence or for them to sell in their re…
  • I agree. I had been very obese my entire life but didn't let it stop me from being active. I was fine till I hit around 43 then I started having all kinds of problems, feet, knees, back, hips. Once I lost alot of weight in 2012-2013, the aches and pains went away most of the time. Granted I still have bone on bone on my…
  • Thanks. I've been looking at the Brooks brand but they are as costly as the higher priced New Balance styles I have noticed.
  • When I first started the elliptical back in Jan 2013 I also did no resistance and incline and after 10 minutes my hip was killing me!! It does take time. You'll work up to it! Go for it and just continue doing what you are doing!
  • I had to go to the foot dr for back in 1994 and did the custom made orthotics, cortisone shots in the heel, physical therapy and ended up having surgery on it. At that time I was very obese and worked retail mgmt and was on my feet for 10 to 12 hours a day on concrete. It got so bad before surgery I couldn't even walk from…
  • I wish I could run on treadmill or outside but can't due to bad knees, bone on bone on one knee that needs replaced but they dr won't since I am "not old enough", other knee is screwed up from over compensating on it from the other knee. They do better now that I lost alot of weight but still do bother me. I've tried…
