  • Local GNC store. Online GNC or online Quest website. Hy Vee has them 12 bars for $24.99 and today you get 10% off that price so takes $2.50 off them and you also get gas points too!
  • Brooks has a line of sports bras Moving Comfort I think, They have a wire in the one I bought. I've tried alot of sports bras on and then ran in place fast in the dressing room to see if they would work or not and this is the only one that passed the test. Comfy enough to wear all day long too and no Uni Boob! The style is…
  • I agree. I looked at the back of a bag of the veggie chips and it was scary. I won't eat those again. More of a marketing ploy than anything with those I feel.
  • I do think there is a "honeymoon" period where the weight comes off pretty easy. I had Sleeve done in June 2012. I made my personal goal by April 2013. I added cals back into my diet to quit loosing. I did gain back some which is typical as most WLS people gain 5 to 10% back when quit loosing. For the first year or so I…
  • Kashi makes bags of chips but I can only find them at Big Lots now. I think they quit producing them. Made of bean and good for protein and you get like 26 chips for 140 cals I think.
  • I love their bars. I have two samples of the protein shake powder I got from them but never tried them yet. I would like to try the chips too. I buy the bars at GNC when B3G1F sale and then have a $5 off coupon. I can usually get them for about $1.83 a bar then. My fav flavs are brownie, choc chip cookie dough and the new…
  • I haven't tried the Quest chips yet. I wasn't gonna pay what HyVee wanted for one bag of them. I contacted Quest to see if I could get a free sample but they are giving out samples of their chips yet like the do their protein mix and protein bars. For those of you new to Quest bars or Quest protein shake mix, go to the…
  • I don't regret my WLS sleeve surgery one bit! The only regret I have is waiting so long to have it. I didn't have any hunger the first year or so, ate cause I was told I had to and get so much protein grams in and cals in each day. I am almost 3 years post op now, surgery was June 2012. You have to be careful in thinking…
  • Congrats on your success! You have done great! My WLS program didn't give me a set goal or weight, just as long as I was at a healthy BMI. I am 5"4' and got as low as 124 from 280. I lost 49 pounds pre op, the rest post op from WLS Sleeve. I made my personal goal of 135 and then 130 that I reached in April 2013 I had the…
  • I had GERD or acid reflux before WLS and after some but my WLS surgeon told me people would sleeve would have acid reflux. But when they did my sleeve they found a hital hernia and fixed it and I really had no acid reflux post op or since then. They can give you a acid reflux rx for it that helps. You can buy them over the…
  • I would be worried if you weren't scared about the surgery. It is major surgery. I didn't worry too much about it till I got my insurance approval and actual date of the surgery and then the week before surgery and of course that day of surgery. It is natural to be worried about it. If you have questions make sure to talk…
  • The pre op phase is to prepare you for life post op. Many think it is "making people jump through the hoops" to get approval for WLS but it really is to prepare you. Remember, the surgery is on the stomach and not your head. So dealing with the head hunger issues pre op is very important. I basically did everything my WLS…
  • I agree! I just stock up on them when on sale at the Quest site or GNC. I bought a bunch during Black Friday and still have 1 1/2 boxes left. I also stocked up on the Power Crunch bars when they were a $1 each at my local Schnuck grocery store. I only buy them when I on sale or I go without!
  • I quit drinking soda, Diet Pepsi, in March 2012 and haven't had any since. I didn't drink hardly any water, just coffee and then diet pepsi through out the day. I realized with the help of a dietcian that my body was dehydrated. I now drink 80 oz or more of water a day.
  • I used MFP to track it all. Food, water, vitamins, exercise. You can go in and set your own settings calories for the day, % of protein, carbs, fats stuff like that. I have logged in since Feb 2012 every single day. Even in the hospital after sleeve WLS I logged my ice chips! Good luck you can do it. The most successful…
  • Thanks for the info. I love chocolate mint!
  • I have always used Nectar brand. Chocolate Truffle I liked the best and used Fuzzy Navel also. I've used Chocolate Truffle since May 2012 with my pre op liquid diet and still do every M-F breakfast with skim milk and tablespoon of PB2. You can buy samples online. I bought a bunch before surgery to have on hand after since…
  • Quest bars and Power Crunch bars for me. I tried others and couldn't stand them. Power Crunch don't have as much protein grams in them but are yummy if you put them in the freezer. They don't travel well in your purse as they melt due to the icing on the wafer. I usually stock up on those two brands when on sale. My local…
  • Carbs is a controversial topic I have notice on MFP in the general discussion areas. My WLS program nut has told me over and over that a person needs 130 grams of carbs a day for healthy brain functions. So I follow that. Also the carbs should mainly come from "non processed" foods like fresh fruit and stuff like that. I…
  • I looked into back in May 2013 after loosing all my weight. It was too expensive for me. I paid $100 fee to have a consultation with a plastic surgeon that works with my WLS program. Even with the discounted rate, have my tummy and upper arm skin removed was like $12000. They would do two areas at one time they said no…
  • Anyone been able to find the Blue Bell brand Ice cream flavor Kentucky Pie? I got some a couple years ago when in Indy and haven't seen it anywhere since. I think they must have discontinued it. OMG! So good!!
  • I love quest bars and usually have one a day for my AM snack. I only buy them when on sale at the Quest website or GNC with a coupon. My favs are chocolate brownie, Choc Chip Cookie dough, Peanut butter supreme. White Choc Raspberry is good but almost too sweet.
  • You need to contact your surgeon and find out what you can have at this post op stage. They should have given you guidelines for each stage and when to move up to the next stage. Did you attend the classes required by most WLS programs on this? My program gave me a huge binder of information and I had to attend classes pre…
  • Darn knee pain is still keeping me from biking. I miss it so........
  • What is wrong with the knee to have the scope done? Many scopes are done for different reasons? I had a torn meniscus and after waiting 5 years or so had the scope done. After I had it done I wondered why I waited so long to have it done and get some relief. They also cleaned up the knee that had bone spurs and arthritis…
  • I've been out of commission. My bad knee that is bone on bone is really hurting me lately so no workouts of any kind be it walking or biking. I am waiting till Monday to call Dr to see if gets better or may just be the weather bothering it.
  • I don't/can't do running due to bone on bone left knee but do alot of walking. I can't stand to walk on treadmill inside. Walking outside I love! I try to walk 1-2 miles in 20 to 30 min on my lunch time and then if not going to gym I will walk 2 miles at home on country road. I only walk outside in daylight in safe areas…
  • Its been rainy here lately so bike riding outside. I did do the stationary bike at gym last Thursday and will today when I hit the gym. Hopefully the rain will go away soon so I can get outside to bike!
  • Not really. I just bought some new tennis shoes a couple weeks ago. New Balance. The first day or so they were a bit uncomfy by the end of the day but they are shoes that correct over pronation and I hadn't worn any like that in a few years so I figured that was why. After about a day they were comfy. I try to wear them…
  • I was out of town at a friends house that was during Memorial Day weekend before I had to start my 2 week pre op liquid diet for surgery prep back in 2012. I had been on a 1200 cal diet from end of Jan 2012 till then. I did eat more than I usually do during that weekend and probably ate more bread than usual since I had…
