  • I can't do hand planks anymore after I had carpal tunnel surgery the hand dr told me. I can do elbow ones but no hand planks! Dang!
  • Yes I know what you mean. My knee ortho dr told me to quit doing dog agility training cause it was tearing my knee up. It is basically bone on bone now so even though I lost alot of weight and it doesn't hurt like it did before being obese it still doesn't help the structural damage done. I did go back and do some agility…
  • Like others have suggested try the different cardio machines and see what ones you like. Start off slow and do just a small amount of time on them. I had never done an elliptical machine at first and could only do 10 minutes of it and then my hips were killing me the next day or two. Build up your time and move up the…
  • I would ask your knee ortho about it. Mine said no sleeve really work good. It is more of a mental thing thinking it supports it. It does keep them warm though. Unless you get a rx one from your ortho with the heavy duty metal on the outsides they really don't do much from what I have experienced and my knee ortho has told…
  • Like others of have said, depends on how much you have lost, how old you are and how long you were overweight. I had been obese my entire life. I lost alot of weight 156 pounds in 2012-2013 but haven't gained a few pounds back. I worked out during my weight loss and still do. Lots of weight and strength training along with…
  • Thanks for all the comments. Yes the ac is nice but I have noticed at my gym on the nice days it is hot and stuffy in there already. My gym is small with no classes. My other gym had lots of classes and pools for workout classes too so I went all year round. I haven't decided what to do. I am afraid if I am not paying out…
  • I got on my bike for the first time this season last week due to the nice weather. Gonna skip the inside gym today after work to get on the bike again. Last week I was able to bike over 4 miles so today I am going to shoot for 5 miles. I bike in the country so lots of hills and some gravel so sometimes my mph is slower due…
  • I used to only walk as exercise and with controlled calorie count for diet I lost weight. Now that I am smaller I still walk but it doesn't get my heart rate up enough even fast walking to burn as much calories. I am thinking of stopping my gym membership for the summer since I hate working out inside when it is so nice…
  • I have sports bra with wire and other bras with wires that I wear at gym w my Polar FT7HRM and it doesn't effect the read outs. I usually tuck the strap under my bra bottom band so the monitor part that snaps onto the strap is covered by bottom of bra/wire. No issues and I have mine for 1 1/2 years.
  • Reese's Peanut butter eggs! YUM! I also like the malted eggs things. So far so good this year, I haven't ate any Easter goodies!!
  • Thanks BigDog. I also copied your post about your group and posted it so more people that are my MFP buddies will join that are bike riders. Rainy here today so probably no bike ride so it will be inside gym time after work instead.
  • It was so nice outside today after work I skipped my gym inside workout and got the hike out and rode for 36 min and got in 4.30 miles in. It was pretty windy in some directions and my first time on the bike in 1 1/2 years. My left knee was aching some. County roads with hills and some gravel roads Burned off 306 calories…
  • Like others have already mentioned, I would start out with walking first and build up to fast walking and then running. I was at 280 pounds at one time but have knee problems and can't run due to bone on bone even after loosing alot of weight. I've tried and it is just too hard and hurts my bad knees. Get a good pair of…
  • Thanks for the link. I just joined. I had never heard of this before!
  • Like others have mention bike riding outside. Walking a mile or two on your lunch hour. I just walked 1.85 miles in 30 min on my lunch hour inside and boy does it make a difference with the rest of my work day. It gives me energy and nice to get out of the office too and enjoy that 75 degree weather we are having. Today is…
  • My WLS surgeon said the sleeve makes acid reflux worse. I had GERD before my sleeve and it helped mine but they also found a hernia and repaired it while doing my sleeve so I think that is what helped. Plus I take smaller bites and can't drink and eat at the same time also now. Protonix help alot. Most will put people on…
  • You can view partial clips of her dvds on youtube. I used to do them all the time before work at 5am in my pjs. They don't get my heart rate up enough anymore to make it worth it now. My fit bit one doesn't count the steps either correctly, like her 15 min one mile doesn't register one mile on my fit bit and I have done it…
  • I ended up getting a 36 C after I tried on the Moving Comfort Mia style. It works great! Thanks for all the suggestions on here!
  • I ended up buying a Moving Comfort sports bra and love it at a locally owned running store . It is the one with wires in it. Mia is the style name I think. It was $46 and then I got 20% off it.
  • The surgery was on our stomachs not our heads and yes those old habits do die hard. I am post op from Sleeve surgery done in June 2012 so I am rolling up to my 3 year anniversary. It does get harder after you have hit your personal goal and then try to keep it off, believe me I know! I hit my personal goal in April 2013…
  • Every day to keep my self in check. It is not getting on the scale that got me to 280 lbs and I don't wanna end up that way again. I know it is different for everyone but I have to do this for me and I also log in daily on here with everything for over 3 years now. I know I will have to log my food the rest of my life as I…
  • I have had a fitbit one for a couple years now. I had a cheap HRM without chest strap also. I bought a Polar FT7 HRM w chest strap about 1 1/2 years ago and love it. I only use it at gym workouts since it isn't made to wear all day long like the fit bits are. I still wear my fit bit though but for accurate cal burn count I…
  • My blood pressure is low even though I drink 80 oz or more of water a day. It is lower now since loosing weight and doing gym workouts. I sometimes feel light headed and dizzy but I think it is my sinuses more than anything to do with WLS since it seems to be in the morning. It could be low blood sugar also. Best thing to…
  • Also, more than 10 pounds a month is kinda high I think for sleeve post op. Just my opinion though. 10 a month is a good amount but we all go through stalls through that loosing period. Your body gets used to it, so as others have said you have to mix it up some to keep your body guessing. Good luck!
  • Make sure you are getting in at least 80 oz of water in a day and at least 80 grams of protein in also. This makes a difference. I averaged about 10 pounds a month I lost after my sleeve surgery in June 2012. The smaller I got, the slower the weight came off. If you are burning up alot of calories from your exercise, you…
  • I use it for snacks when I can find it on sale. I have noticed in the last year or so the price going higher and higher on it. The sodium content is kinda high but if you don't have a problem with sodium go for it. I usually eat the one serving recommendation 1 oz. It has a good amount of protein in it for the size also.
  • Last week while in Walmart I turned the corner of the produce section and they had a freezer full of marked down frozen goodies for $1. The bargain hunter in me got the best of me....I bought a variety of frozen gelato HD bars and some reg ice cream pricey bars for $1 a box. Very yummy so far but not so great with the…
  • Best thing to do is talk to your ortho dr on this about running. I had a medial meniscus tear in my left knee and waited over 3 years to have the scope surgery on it. After I had it done I wondered why I waited so long to have it done. At that time I was very obese and the surgery helped but I still had knee issues and…
  • I'm almost 3 years post op from sleeve and still have stumble noises. I asked the WLS program surgeon about it at one of my yearly post op visits. She said everyone's stomach makes those noises it is just now that I am smaller and don't have all that weight/fat around it can be heard now.
