I do this about every 2-3 weeks. Some mornings I decide I am wearing a certain pant and then try them on and they are too big then I have to quickly decide what to wear so now I try on my pants more often and set aside the ones that are too big to take to consignment stores or donate. I've been buying alot of my smaller…

If you make changes pre op it will be so much easier post op. My bariatric program has a team approach and you have to be team approved before they will even turn your insurance paper work in or give you a surgery date. You have to not smoke or quit smoking for 3 or 6 months before surgery, stop drinking reg or diet…

My nutitionist told me to get 70-80 grams of protein a day but lately I have been getting close to 100 grams a day. I asked her yesterday at my appt. if getting 100 grams of protein was bad and she said no. I usually eat 1000 cals a day sometimes less. I was concerned with carbs too but she told me for someone eating…

Not at home after surgery but while in the hospital I did have them to prevent blood clots. They usually do that with everyone and then have you wear the compression boots when you aren't walking around to prevent the blood clots too. I had to get off hormal birth control 3 months before sleeve surgery and at least a month…

I have been doing sit ups for the last month or so to see if it will help tighten any of the muscles in my tummy/abs. I do lift three pound dumbells 75 times as arm curls twice a day to try to help with my bat wings. I have been obese all my life so I don't think my skin is gonna snap back. When I first started the WLS…

Glad to hear all went well with your surgery. The more you walk the better you will feel. They had me up 4 hours after my surgery and every 4 hours after that. I got so bored I was walking more than that too and didn't lay in the hospital bed except to sleep. I sat in the recliner they had in the room. I couldn't tolerate…

My bariatric program requies us to get 80 oz of liquids in before surgery and after surgery too. In the hospital I had to drink 8 oz of water an hour and track it daily. Since I had a hital hernia repair when they went into to do my sleeve it did slow down my progress of liquids and even drinking the protein shake in the…

I didn't know how much it would cost till I got the bills and added them up. I have an HMO insurance so I just had to pay a $250 deductable for the surgery/hospital stay and other stuff. I think I added mine up an it was close to $75,000 but I was in the hospital from Mon-Fri instead of Mon-Wed so that made it more…

I had sleeve surgery 6/11/12 friend me, my diary is open to view for friends. Good luck!

The decsion is up to you. I had sleeve surgery 6/11/12. I lost 47 pre op and have lost 51 post op. I wasn't for sure which to have either but was leaning towards the sleeve. After talking to my surgeon I decided on the sleeve. Less connecting and re connecting your guts with the sleeve. Actually, you can stretch out your…

I think all surgeons/bariatric programs have different pre op diets. Mine was for 2 weeks before surgery. 4 protein shakes a day, 2 mixed with skim milk, 2 mixed with water. I only did three a day and those were for my meals. I could have oatmeal, cream of wheat, sugar free pudding, fruit free low fat yogurt and a couple…

Try the Swiss Mix Hot Chocolate mix that only has 25 cals in it. It does a couple grams of protein also in it I think. Some of the protein bars too might work. There are some on Bariatric Choice that look like those chocolate wafer cookies that I tried last week. I think they are called BariWise. Think Thin has a good…

I have read about them on the Hungry Girl emails I get but have never seen them locally to try. I have heard they smell really bad and need to rinse them.

As I loose weight I have saggy skin too. My upper arms are bad as is my upper thigh area. My tummy is also. Boobs too! My bariatric program will refer you to a Bari Plastics surgeon after you have met your goal and maintained goal weight for 6 months I think if you have followed all the bariatric rules like keeping your…

Welcome! Congrats on loosing 61 pounds so far. I had sleeve surgery 6/11/12 and doing great. I started my WLS journey beginning of Feb 2012 and found out I was team approved in April 2012 my insurance paperwork was sent in 4/13/12 and in 2 weeks I was approved by my insurance co for surgery. I waited till June 2012 to have…

I had gastric sleeve surgery 6/11/12 and don't have any regrets. The first month was rough since I also had a hital hernia repaired during the surgery and it slowed me down with getting enough fluids in and food phases and I did get dehydrated a few times and had to go into the hospital infusion center. I lost 47 pounds…

I love MFP. I lost 47 pounds pre op by logging in daily and tracking my cals, water, exercise and staying on a 1200 cal diet. I still log in daily to see what I am eating in cals and grams of protein. The support is amazing too! Glad to hear you are feeling good one month out. I was sleeved 6/11/12 and feeling great. I had…

Sounds like you need to find another personal trainer. He sounds like a jerk. Why after 2 months did he now tell you this? Stalls are normal throughout the WLS journey. Are you getting enough grams of protein in and 80 oz of liquids a day? Protein and liquids burn fat. You might be gaining muscle with your exercise program…

All bariatric programs are different. I must say the one I am part of is a caring one. Yes they are for profit but aren't Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, workout gyms, workout dvds and so on?!?! The weight loss industry is huge! I beg to differ about the cognitive therapy aspect of some bariatric programs also. Mine does use…

Yes, people still have issues with "head hunger" but a good bariatric program will screen for this. I had to get "team approval" from my bariatric program before they would say I could have sleeve surgery. I had to see a physcologist, a nutritionist and a physical therapist. They all three had to sign off/agree I was ready…

Congrats and GREAT post! I had sleeve surgery June 11, 2012. I lost 47 pre op between 2/1/12-6/11/12 and have lost 44 pounds post op in 14 weeks. I, like you, have struggled all my life with obesity. I weighed over 11 pounds when I was born! I was a member of Weight Watchers before age 10. I have never, ever been the…

Thanks for posting those Youtube video links. My upper arms look really bad and are bothering me alot. I have been having shoulder pain problems the last three months so I haven't been able to do any exercises on that area. I want to join a gym too but the physical therapist said to wait till I am not having shoulder pain…
