Funny thing is I just started back today after 3 - 4 months away. I felt the same way you did and now I've gained back the majority of what I lost. Best of luck to you, hopefully we all reach our goals!

I think the momentum of his body plus landing awkwardly caused the break. Two years ago I was jumping in a forward direction and landed a little funny and broke my ankle. It was not even close to as bad as Kevin Ware's but it didn't take much to break. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Feel free to add me, I added new friends a couple weeks ago and it's been a great experience so far. I feel like just seeing what others are doing helps motivate me even more.
