Mine is simple. I hate running :)

so I can feel comfortable in my own skin.

1000 calories? Does this mean I can down a six-pack of double IPAs every 10K? I've been cheating myself this whole time.

Elizabeth nailed it I think. We're creatures of habit. Whatever we're more used to will feel easier. I started a few years ago as a treadmill only person because I was way overweight and embarrased about going out on the road. When I finally dropped some pounds and signed up for my first 5K, I begrudgingly hit the pavement…

Running is completely individual. You can't really compare yourself to someone else when you've just started and they've been at it for a while. You need to build an aerobic base by building up slowly. As you build your aerobic base, your stamina will increase and you'll be able to go further without getting winded. The…

Right there with ya brutha. I struggle to not see every sh!tty rotten thing anyone ever said about me.

You, sir, rock. Wow. Just wow.

Brooks Adrenaline (models 9-14). Recently tried a Saucony Progrid Omni 11 last fall on the recommendation of a running store guy and I like them. A little lighter than the Adrenaline, maybe a little less support, but both great shoes.

~10-ish mile runs will do that much. Depending on the persons weight, perhaps as high as 1200.

This makes me very happy. Congrats!

There are many people with streaks of well over 100+ days of running with no off days. That being said, that's only smart to do if some of those runs are at an extremely easy pace (recovery-type runs). And those people have gradually built up to that kind of stress on their supporting infrastructure. Lots of people follow…

As a "normal" (I hope) guy, I've been quite guilty of rubbernecking when I see a lady in a decent pair of running tights :) That being said, I've never actually turned the car around to get another look. I hope it's not the same guy. Change things up for a while, or for more than a while if it's the same guy.

Craft beer. Stuff will be the end of me.

There are many people that have streaks of well over 100+ days of running with no breaks. As long as you're varying the intensity so that some are quite easy, versus others that are more intense, you would be fine going daily.

The colder the better (to a point, usually 10°F and above). I'm a gazelle in the cold :)

I'm late to this thread, but was searching for Insanity info as I'm going to be starting up with it soon. How did it go for you?

I'm with the OP. I've got running near the top of my to-do list for 6 days out of the week most of the time, but I've struggled with clean eating. I've been plateaued for quite a while, and I'm sure it's due to my craft beer habit. I wish the good tasting stuff wasnt upwards of 250+ empty calories. That being said, I find…

My most embarrassing guilty pleasure song is "Shake it" by Metro Station. Another rocking tune that I heard on Breaking Bad is "Apocalyp****" by Molotov.

You sure as hell did run the perfect one. Isn't picking people off at the end fun? You're like a running sniper!

Dunno why I answer these. @Tryxxie2013 Hell yes.

Saw this as well. Very sad. There have been multiple times where I've had to bail off the shoulder of the road and into the bushes as a driver with their head buried in their phone careens towards me. We runner types have really got to be defensive while we're out there in the trenches, and assume drivers don't see us.…

I've wanted one for years, but never really found one that jumped out at me. Now I've found one (or two), but being 40+, it'd be kind of a mid-life-crisis thing. Not sure if I should do it.

I started in Feb 2010, couldn't run a half mile. Worked my way up to my first 5K in June 2010 on 15-20 mpw. Had back surgery in the fall and had to re-start in April 2011. Started making more gains in 2011, first 10K, up to 25 mpw. Kept it up, gradually worked up to 30-35 mpw through 2012, did my first 13.1 in Sept 2012.…

I have a terrible tendency to do this. I specifically leave ~500 cals available after dinner to try to offset it. And it's completely mindless - often times I'm half asleep, and it's basically just a habitual thing. It's terrible.

There's a guy at work that does this. He holds on for dear life while attempting to sustain 9 MPH. His gait is so messed up, and his feet hit the deck so heavily and unevenly that it seriously hurts to watch. And he's gasping for air the whole time. It's something you'd see on youtube with about 2 million views. I'd love…

Good question - personally, I'd think it'd be the lowest you can be while keeping yourself healthy and fueled adequately, and able to train to the point that you're able to make gains in endurance/speed. I can tell you from experience that in some races, I've run a faster pace while weighing a couple more pounds (no more…

Having only done one, my advice doesn't carry as much weight as others, but the whole slow thing was spot on for me. In my instance, I was still dealing with the aftermath of bronchitis. While this sucked, I think it actually helped force me to slow down, especially early. As I settled into a groove for the first half, my…

because i look stressed which is often the case. and because it's douchey, which I often am :)
