  • I am 5' 7 1/2" and 146. My first goal was 145, however, I am now aiming for 140. In my early 20s I weighted 125, however, after my first baby my weight returned to 130. At 35 I weighted 135 and was very happy with how I looked and felt. Not sure if that is realistic anymore; I shall keep reevaluting as this journey goes…
  • I had heard that MFP over-states calories burned from exercise. Recently, I have returned to the gym and I am submitting the calories burned as displayed by the machine vs what MFP recommends. For example, today I walked for 60 min on the treadmill and the machine said 323 calories, however, MFP said 596.
  • My diary open; you may view it at anytime. I eat a large variety of whole food; I try to stay away from processed foods.
  • Just found this thread; marking my place to come back later and read! Good night everyone.
  • I eat Dannon Oikos Plain Nonfat Yogurt. Greek yogurt is high in protein, which helps promote fullness. I add flaxmeal, slivered almonds or blueberries to it for variety. I like this brand because it has only 6 grams of sugar. Other yogurts can really pack on the sugar grams and I try my best to keep my sugar as low as…

  • That last week I did not quit when the scale did not go down; in fact it when up. Today, however, my weight has dropped to a new low!
  • I suggest you change your goal to 1/2 pound per week. I joined MFP on 17 Jan of this year with an initial goal of 10 pounds. My ultimate goal was for a total loss of 15 pounds, however, wanted to reevaluate things after I lost the first 10 pounds. Well, in 30 days I have lost 9 pounds. It has come off much quicker than my…
  • Mine is public, however, this week has not been the best because I have been under a lot of stress and eating too much. Previous weeks look better.
  • Forgot to mention walnuts. I add 1/4 c to my oatmeal. And to quote a website, "Walnuts may be considered the king of nuts for health benefits, with a combination of more healthful and higher quality antioxidants, U.S. researchers say." "Walnuts rank above peanuts, almonds, pecans, pistachios and other nuts," Joe Vinson of…
  • I add silvered almonds (1/8c) to my oatmeal to change the taste. Sometimes I add blueberries (1/3c). Lately, I have started making my oatmeal with Almond milk. This changes it up for me and allows me to continue with the oatmeal which really fills me up.
  • Thank-you everyone! I am overwhelmed by the response I have received… lots of good information and tips! Well, I think I will finish off my carton of Almond milk and then try going back to my 1%. Or maybe this week, I will acquire a taste for almond milk as someone suggested. And yes, I will gradually add back some of my…
  • I have 4oz of dry red wine almost every evening and I never feel guilty. Red wine is heart healthy!
  • Joined 19 days ago and my first priority was watching sugar and calories. Although I stay away from almost all processed foods, my sugar grams was over 90g per day on day 1 because of all the fruit I was eating. By lowering my sugar as much as possible, I have now lost 7.6 pounds. I am now going to start watching my fat…
  • I am 56, soon to be 57, and I certainly do not consider myself a senior. Feel free to add me as a friend if you like! Welcome to MFP.
  • Welcome to MFP! This is a fabulous site; day 15 for myself. Also, I think it it great that you want to loose weight for both yourself AND your wife. None of us are getting any younger and extra weight can lead to all kinds of problems and disease as we age. Sure wish my husband wanted to lose weight for himself. I just…
  • I had my third child when I was 34. Don't worry about what this woman said. Just keep yourself active and eating healthy and when the time is right, you body will do fine.
  • Congratulations on a great start! Keep up the good work.
  • Hi Nicole, Thanks for the well wishes. I read through all your postings and I certainly remember how hard it is to find time for yourself when you have small children. My 3 are all grown. However, you MUST carve out time for yourself. Good luck!
