Ooh, fun. I used to eat a bowl of cereal every day for breakfast. On weekends I might have eggs and toast, but I'd still have a bowl of cereal with it. I'd usually have Kashi Heart to Heart, with skim milk. I bet I'd probably have 2-3 cups, so I'm guessing morning breakfast was usually around 400 calories. For lunch I had…

I don't want to get too into studies and metabolic factors and suggest instead that you watch what your sister eats. My roommate in college was 5'10, 110 pounds on a heavy day, and the only one of the four girls who lived in our house to buy doritos, pizza rolls, and coke. She also drank a fair amount of beer. We used to…

I go to chipotle and get the chicken bowl with extra peppers and beans and salsa. I enjoy it, but I hate paying $8 and skipping half the ingredients. I also like Wendy's chili. For sit down restaurants, I usually order the grilled chicken sandwich, no cheese, sauce on the side, and I usually leave most of the bun. Be…

I can certainly understand being frustrated even when your body weight is in the healthy range. I am 5'3, 114 pounds, and can only lose 10 pounds before I veer into the underweight category (I think I could actually lose closer to 20 pounds before being too skinny). Yet, I have a potbelly that seriously looks pregnant, my…

Rice Krispies (okay in moderation, and better than sugary cereals, but 100 cals a cup and almost no nutritional value) Margarine Muffins Wheat Thins Granola Bars (HOW exactly were these touted as health foods in the 90s? Some have as much sugar and calories as a snickers bar) Bagels

I know what you mean. I love fruit, so I always get excited stocking up on strawberries, oranges, apples, and whatever else I can get (peaches and watermelon in the right season, and every once in awhile a pineapple). Ah, I love fruit. So, that gets me stoked. But yeah, as for the rest, yawn. It's especially hard walking…

Oh that's funny. That probably would not work for me, but I love the idea of buying generic at the dollar store to turn me off Cola forever. For those wondering about weight loss- while there are theories about how consuming diet coke indirectly causes weight gain (ie, the diet coke itself does not cause weight gain, but…

I make chicken with buffalo sauce a lot. I put it in a fry pan for 3 min on each side (I use cooking spray) and then score it, coat it with buffalo sauce, and bake it for 30 min. I boil it sometimes too, but I like baking better. You can use other seasonings or sauces if you don't like buffalo sauce. I also bake it (minus…

I eat a lot of chicken breasts, shrimp, and turkey burgers (no bun). If I am at home, I make scrambled eggs a lot. I eat tuna sometimes, but usually when I am out of everything else. I try and make dinners that will convert to leftover lunches- fish, steak and chicken fajitas, baked chicken, etc.

I was at 1,200 calories for awhile. I don't really remember liking it. Breakfast most days was exactly one cup of Kashi Go Lean cereal, with only enough skim milk to fill the bottom layer of the bowl. Sometimes maybe a piece of toast or fruit. Sometimes instead of cereal I'd have a protein shake. Breakfast was usually…

You gained 3.5 pounds of muscle in 9 days?

Oh don't encourage the poster. Studies can prove whatever the study wants to prove. My favorite part of the post was saying unequivocally that diet coke *will* cause weight gain, despite no less than 10 people on this very thread sharing their own experiences of losing weight while drinking diet soda regularly. Guess those…

I don't really log food anymore, although I am still hoping to lose some weight, but my main goal right now is eating a better quality and variety of food than before, as opposed to limiting calories. But I did log for about 6 months every day, no exceptions, and I remember being shocked by the calorie counts of some of…

Probably around 1800-2000, and burned around the same. I was mostly the same weight for 10 years give or take two pounds. But- my diet was prob 90% carbs. The only fat I ate was the butter on my toast and whenever I ordered fast food. Protein was next to nothing- the occasional mcdonalds hamburger or scrambled eggs. I…

I'm around 5'2.5, but I always round up to 5'3. I wouldn't mind being short if I did not have such a disproportionately short torso where all my weight goes. As it is most days I wish I was a lot taller. I also love to eat, and read about food. I'm weird. I'm at a healthy weight for my height, but feel very flabby and…

I used to eat like 5-6 servings of fruit a day. I love fruit. Then I realized if I wanted to stay under my sugar goal I would have to limit my intake to maybe one piece a day. I did that for awhile and was miserable. Now I eat as much fruit as I want. I do have a rule for myself though- I must have a minimum of 1 to 1…

I was always a strong C, until I got pregnant and then went to DD. I stayed that way for awhile, then when I lost all the pregnancy weight plus some additional pounds, I went to a small C- I could probably wear a B if I wanted. I am actually super happy about it. I am almost 30, and I feel like my breasts have served their…

I am working on building my butt up. I have always had a really flat one. Like, strangers have commented on it numerous times. After I got pregnant, it totally expanded, but in a nice way. Then once I had the baby it all fell like a house of cards. I'd like to lose about 10 pounds, but my other goal is to get a decent…

I don't stay at home with my daughter, but I have found it hard to squeeze in exercise time. My husband works long hours, so the only feasible times I could work out is after she goes to bed (around 8:30, and I don't really want to start exercising then since I try and get to bed by 9:30 or 10, or get up at 4:30 am and do…

Chicken breasts, squash, asparagus, artichokes, dark chocolate, pistachios, almonds, and sweet potatoes. I always thought I hated baked and boiled chicken breasts because my husband, who is deathly afraid of salmonella poisoning, would overcook it to the point where it was just a dry slab of nothing. When I make it myself,…

I like it enough to eat it, but I definitely prefer angel hair pasta. It's okay though. Kind of a lot of work to prepare. I mostly make it as a way to get my daughter to eat a vegetable.

Height: 5'2 Age/Gender: 29/Female Highest Weight: Pregnant-155 lbs, not pregnant (or immediately postpartum) 129 Current Weight: 114 (checked today) Lowest Weight: of my adult life 106- but that was after a major stressful event where I did not eat more than a few hundred calories for about two weeks. Lowest weight losing…

Well, she is probably not self conscious about her body, per se. Maybe she thinks she has a great body. But someone who feels the need to hear how great their body is from other people, to the point where they will blatantly fish for compliments, does not have a healthy self esteem. Maybe your SIL hates everything about…

I know! Weren't the rats in that study given the equivalent of like 30 cans a day or something ridiculous like that? I'm not so worried. I have no problems with drinking caffeine. I have at least one can of diet coke per day, and some days also have coffee or tea.

I always skip the hard boiled yolk as well...not because of cholesterol or even calories- I just don't like it. And it doesn't make sense to me to eat 50-60 extra calories of something I don't even like. I will occasionally eat whole eggs scrambled but I actually prefer an all egg white scramble. I usually only eat the…

Well...on the one hand, yes, they are shamelessly fishing for compliments. On the other hand, someone who looks awesome and knows it probably doesn't *need* to fish for compliments, so there is something psychological going on there. Or maybe they aren't self conscious about how they look, but they have low self esteem in…

I agree with those that said change your gym routine. 10 min on weight machines is pretty much wasting your time. The New Rules of Weightlifting for Women author absolutely hates weight machines- except for a handful, like the lateral pull down. Try bench pressing with dumbbells. I have found that bench pressing with two…

By itself, no, there will be no difference. Some people have offered the suggestion that it increases appetite or cravings for sweet things, and I've heard also that your body treats the sweetener like sugar and raises insulin in response. The former was not true for me, no ideas about the latter. I did go without diet…

I sort of did that. I didn't offer up more booty but husband complained that I always covered up when he walked in while I was changing and I always wore sweats to bed instead of something skimpy (or nothing) and that he wished he could see more of my body. I responded that I was super self conscious about it and maybe…

I am not a big fan of eating for the sake of eating. If you've had 1200 calories and are not hungry, I don't see the point in forcing yourself to eat. I think if you get to the point where your body needs those extra calories, you WILL be hungry. If you are at 1200 calories and you just finished a really tough zumba class…
