  • I only did 1.5 miles today. I'm military and it was mock PT test day and that's our testing distance. But I did get my fastest time today (12:47). Well aside from back in my younger years...
  • I would advise you sit and have a talk one on one with her (respectfully of course, she is still your mom) and explain your concerns. Maybe get more involved with grocery shopping. It could even become good old fun mom/kid time. She may even welcome your help with it! I know I shop alone for just my husband and our two…
  • My 2.5 year old son has bad eczema too. What a lot of good information! Mine has been seeing an allergist and we've got a few things down that are causing it (his biggest problem is dust mites). I never new about the dairy thing. The doctor never brought it up, though we are just starting this "adventure" and my son has…
  • Congrats! Breastfeeding and running helped me, as well as using the target calories MFP set up for me.

  • I found it easier the second time as I was more active during the second pregnancy and afterwards, I got back to exercising with a lot more determination than the first.
  • I eat breakfast at work too, and my lunchbox usually has a banana and yogurt for breakfast (this morning I mixed it up with 2 hard boiled eggs). Lunch is typically a sandwich, either ham or turkey with cheese and no spread with a raw veggie along side (typically baby carrots). For snacks I usually have an apple and a fruit…
  • My husband does Paleo, most of the time. I do not. I have nothing against the "diet" itself, just some of the reasonings seem odd to me. If someone wants to cut things out like that though, whatever. I just find it a pain to plan meals for the family, because the kids and I don't eat this way. Though it's getting to the…
  • So jealous! I lived in Okinawa for almost seven years and I miss the food a lot. Well I miss everything about it! Some of the best places I ate, I had no idea what I ordered!
  • I usually wind up doing kind of the opposite as well. I have a pretty small breakfast, medium lunch and dinner and maybe a few little snacks. I think it's just a matter of finding what works for you and sticking to your daily calorie plan.
  • I usually don't eat. I feel sick if I do. I just drink some water and it's what works for me. I will eat some fruit and yogurt or something afterwards.
  • I have no choice. I'm military so part of our day is PT time. They give us shower time of course, but I live 40 minutes from base so I wouldn't have the time. Not many of the ladies walk around butt naked and I certainly don't. Most of us go into the shower stall with shirt and shorts on and undershirt for the uniform and…
  • I tell myself it's not the end of the world, brush it off and keep on going. Maybe take the kids for an extra walk or something. I'm in this for the long haul so I don't want to live the rest of my days without the occassional treat or something.
  • I sure did! I gained about 40lbs with both boys. I lost the first 25 of it without really doing much exercise, and when I did start again, it was easier to keep the weight dropping while I breastfed. You just really have to pay attention to your eating. I know for me, I was hungrier breastfeeding than pregnant.
  • 1- I don't eat usually. I feel sick if I do. At most I might have a banana or something small like that. 2- I drink water on my 40 minute ride to the base, where I go run 3- I'm military so my place of duty is at the gym at 0730 so I have no choice in the matter!
  • Almost a small bale of hay, since having the baby! 3 gallon tub of ice cream since MFP! A few more pounds though and I'll have lost the combined weight of my children...which is scary to think since I sometimes carry them both and it's rough!
  • I am Active Duty Air Force, and we get PT 5 days a week, thank goodness! Otherwise, my homestation job is a desk job and it sucks. To stay busy, sometimes I just wander around the building or go up and down the stairs. When I get home I'm crazy busy as Husband works nights and long shifts so I'm alone with the kids. I tend…
  • Leftover turkey chilli. So yummy!
  • I go for distance over time. My short runs are 1.5 miles, my long runs are 4+. If I'm doing less than three, I do 9 minute miles, over 3 it's about 10 minutes.
  • I never had problems as a kid. I was super fit; played sports and did martial arts. Then I joined the Air Force. I actually was close to being told I had to gain a couple pounds to join. Once I got out of basic and tech school and was on my own and had a paycheck, I thought it was fun to eat out all the time. But I did not…
  • I would talk to your doctor, but mine told me it was fine since I did it prepregnancy. He just advised not to up the weights or work the abs/do situps. I lifted until almost 8 months and just up the weights slightly. I quit because it was getting uncomfortable, and everything was great.
  • I passed my air force fitness test with a 92, 6 months after having a csection. My friend told me I was an inspiration and amazing example for everyone else. This morning after our 4.25 mile run, my commander finished after me and said "When I grow up I want to be like (my rank and name) She is in great shape and has me by…
  • I don't do it, but I do believe in the idea behind it. My husband has had knee issues and problems with his stride because of it. After he healed from the last knee blow out, he decided to give minimalist running a try. He hasn't had any knee problems since. So it worked well for him.
  • I weigh myself daily out of curiosity, but I only count it weekly, on Wednesday mornings.
  • From Massachusetts, but currently living in New Jersey.
  • For meats and seafood, we signed up with a company that delivers meat (I think the one we went with was called Capital Meats). It was costly up front but has saved us tons over the months. They even had a deal where if we bought a certain amount, we got a freezer with it all. And it's good stuff, too. I love that I haven't…
  • I gave in today...our unit has a snack fund and the Tasty Kakes were 2 days past the sell by date so they were giving them away...but it was totally delicious and worth it! I'd never had them before.
  • I feel it can be a form of child abuse, if you know all the circumstances. But I think just extending your good example would help them a lot. Like someone else mentioned, have them over and make a healthy lunch or snack. You have the ability to run off on them as much as your worried they will rub off on your children. My…
  • For me, I am the kind of person that would work for. It feels better to meet smaller goals but still be able to add them together. I'm kind of doing that now. I started MFP at 180 and picked 30lbs out of the air. I didn't want to overwhelm and discourage myself. It's nice to know I'm close to having to "re-evaluate" my new…
  • Not me, personally, but my husband did. He was in ok shape. It's like any other program; do it to the best of your abilities and you'll get better as you go. He had to take a safety class first to show him how to properly do the exercises ahead of time. But it works well for him. He looks amazing.
  • I do most of the time, or at least some of them, depending on how hungry I am. It's been working for me; still on my 1lb/week track.
