  • Oh my goodness, YES I have had setbacks!!! I lost 70 lbs in about 3 years then gained 20 back last year when I got really sick then broke a toe and couldn't work out for months. I am back on track now, have lost 13 of the 20, but that has been from May til now. This time around, it's coming off slow. I went a little crazy…
  • I just pretended to add it to a meal and it came up 120 which is pretty consistent with what it usually says. I buy the Butterball lower sodium and a few ounces has few calories, lots of protein, and literally half the sodium their regular turkey has.
  • Gosh, THANKS so much for posting that! I do get tired of people telling me I work out too much. And the double standard gets me. My brother goes to the gym every day and he's the man! I go every day and I am "addicted" and may have my priorities out of order? O_o HMMMM Don't get that one. Thanks though, it feels good…
  • Thanks so much for sharing! You look awesome and give me hope! =]
  • One thing I did at the beginning was allow myself a "cheat day". Now, I don't "cheat" very often because as mentioned, the less you eat of unhealthy things, the less you want them. What I would do was save one day a week where I would eat that one thing I was craving like crazy but I had to earn it. It made it taste oh…
  • It is not enough. You need those calories to function properly. Your body is like a machine and machines need fuel. I have read several places that is especially dangerous for women to go under 1200. You might lose weight on that few but it is your body using itself for fuel, NOT healthy, and eventually, you will stop…
  • IDK how accurate it is, like the other three posters said, but my trainer said they don't give me enough. She suggested I take the average of 3 sites. MFP did give me lowest. I got REAL stuck with my weight and as soon as I started adding calories, I dropped 10 lbs in 2 months! They only give me 1540 to lose but she likes…
  • That is exactly what happened to me! I got really stuck and my trainer had me make her a food log. I printed my stuff from here for 3 days and gave it to her. She said I was eating WAY too little for the amount I work out. So, I actually work out less now because I simply cannot fit close to 3000 calories in. I have a HRM…
  • Panera Bread Jalapeno Cheddar Bagels! We have them at church on Sundays in our cafe and I always say I will not eat one or only eat half but last week, I ate a whole one covered in butter!!! YIKES, threw me WAY over on sodium and calories!
  • Do you wear gloves? I take 3 heavy bag classes a week at my gym and form really does matter. If you aren't hitting properly, your wrists will take the impact. If you can afford to grab a couple classes or get a tape maybe to work on your form, it would probably help tons. The classes I take are one hour each and my wrists…
  • It may take a little while but keep at it! I have been steadily working out for about 3 years now. I started off just walking 3 days a week and every week I added another day. Before long, maybe a few months or so, I started jogging during my walk but not the whole way, It just kept getting easier! Now, I belong to a gym…
  • That sounds yummy! My mom used to make them with salmon when we were kids.
  • You already have gotten some good advice! Making small changes that make a BIG difference is pretty doable. I am fortunate enough to be able to go a gym daily but if you can't, just walking is a fabulous start! I know if I want to get stuff done, I have to get tough with myself. I HATE getting up early but it's the only…
  • Got er done! 70 crunches and 3 one minute planks! OUCH!!! worth it in the end? we'll see =]
  • I'll def give it a shot! I HATE planks but know they are good for me so this will give me some inspiration and a reason to do them.
  • You can do it!! And this is a really good tool to help you stay on track. Good luck!!!
  • Thanks so much for sharing! I feel the same. I was talking to a lady at the gym the other day. I am 46, have chronic asthma, a ruptured disc in my neck and back from a car accident, arthritis in my right knee, a heart condition, and I've had an elbow shatter 5 years ago. I am at the gym 6 days a week and have lost 70 lbs…
  • I end up doing that by default. I eat a super light breakfast because I don't want to get sick at the gym but when I'm finished, I'm starving so I eat a nice lunch. I snack the rest of the day and "finish" my calories with dinner. Don't know if it's right per se but it is how it's worked out for me.
  • I got started with Zumba about 2 years ago to help out a friend get students when she had just gotten certified. I was HOOKED my first class! I go 3 times a week but could go more as my gym offers 6 a week but would involve me going twice a day so no thank you! lol It is so much fun and works every muscle in your body! Our…
  • How do I join?
  • I just got a heart monitor to wear this week and I have been burning over 900 calories in my class!!! I weigh 215 and have a pretty rapid heart rate, I got up to over 180 today and really need to watch that. I LOVE zumba, it's my favorite cardio. I do 3 zumba and 3 kickboxing per week. I burned more in zumba which actually…
