My husband is a nurse & yes, he does only work 3 days a week, but he has to plan for the nights he works by staying up all night the night before his shift, so he can sleep during the day & be ready to work the night. Night shift nurses compete against Circadian rhythm & pretty much never just work a simple 12 hour shift.…

I use 310 shake, which only comes in Vanilla, so for my chocolate fix I use unsweetened Almond milk (1 cup), a small banana, a handful of ice, PB2 powder (if you like peanut butter in your smoothies, this is awesome...only 45 calories), and cocoa powder. It tastes really good & it holds me over from about 7 am to about 1-2…

This has been a godsend to me because I love peanut butter in my smoothies in the morning, but it jacks the calorie count way up. The chocolate peanut butter is yummy too!!! I have never tried it any other way, but I have heard it isn't very good if you use it as a spread...

My nutritionist says eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch & a pauper for dinner. It really doesn't work out that way for me b/c dinner is the family meal...or if I go out, it will be at night. I try to follow that & then exercise to compensate for a bigger meal at night. It is all about planning...If you eat…

This happens to me when I do the Roman chair..

I am assuming the cool whip is for the top? I have never heard of cool whip vanilla frosting...do you make it with cool whip or is it something you buy? If so, is it in with the cool whip or in the frosting isle? Thank you for sharing...definitely gonna try this one!

One pound a week is AWESOME!!!! Celebrate yourself...YOU ROCK :)

This is my number one struggle. First, try to figure out what is really bothering you. If you can write about it or talk to someone or somehow try to deal with what is stressing you out, that is great. If you figure that out, you are preventing further binges too. That being said, sometimes you just can't do that. Second,…

I love that

This gave me goosebumps! Thanks for sharing, especially b/c I was about to skip the gym this afternoon...

I love it! I use it in my protein shakes & I have cut down so much on the fat using it. They have peanut butter flavor...which is yummy...but they also have peanut butter and chocolate...heaven :)

First of all...YAY for you for taking the first steps towards a more healthy lifestyle. I agree with everyone else that most of the real gym rats are too into themselves to be worried about what you are doing. When I see someone that is heavy at the gym I am really inspired, so know that there may be people looking at…

I am right there with you on this one! I can find something to cut back on or I can spend a little longer in the gym...totally worth it. York Peppermint Patty is yummy too.

I actually am watching, but I agree that Jillian is annoying. I can't believe that they haven't killed anyone yet either. I am sure they have a bunch of doctors waiting in the wings to keep them alive...and a bunch of lawyers in case they don't... I think Chris Powell is better. He is hard on them but not like that...

I am so sorry that you are going through all of this. You have always been such an inspiration to me when I log on...I agree with the others on here that you have to give yourself time to grieve. You are not failing because you have gained a few pounds...I know that feeling, b/c the holidays got to me & I did too. You are…
-
I know you are tired and disappointed...the holidays are hard on us all b/c it is just so easy to say, "oh, one cookie/piece of chocolate/glass of wine/second helping/all of the above will be ok...I will just do better tomorrow" Tomorrow comes with new treats & temptations. There are things I HAVE to have available or I…

I just made up my mind one day that I WAS going to do it this time. My father was diabetic & had heart disease. My abdominal fat was getting bigger and bigger & the threat of diabetes was terrifying to me. I hated the way I looked & felt. The gym here is really great & they had a program for 8 weeks that included nutrition…

I agree with the others on here that really recommend weights too. You can start small & work up to it...stretching afterwards helps with the soreness. You will see much better results with weights incorporated into your workout & you will continue to burn fat after your workout. Getting stronger is fun...the soreness will…

Drink a glass of water...sometimes that works...another thing I do is chew gum. Maybe try to have some "safe" foods available, like crunchy food like carrots or celery that would satisfy the urge to eat. Distract yourself however you can & then if you just can't stand it...have a little bit and forgive yourself..

You are an inspiration to all & your message is SO TRUE!!! The scale doesn't matter, smaller clothes don't matter...sure it is really nice but making yourself happy...and healthy...is so so important. Happy New Year to you!!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!

So, pretty much everyone on mfp is battling some kind of issue with weight, body image, health issues...or all of the above. There is an incredible support system here...and lots of people with more knowledge about diet & nutrition & exercise. I am so sad that you are having such trouble loving your body...it is a…

I would definitely ask your doctor about that. If it is nothing, at least then you have peace of mind... I would like to commend you for your efforts to get healthy. I know going to all those doctors is not fun, but kudos to you for putting in the work!!!!

Are you on Mirtazipine for depresson/anxiety? Just curious...I am a veterinarian, & we use Mirtazipine for cats that won't eat as an appetite stimulant. I don't know much about human medicine, but I just thought that was interesting. BTW...great point about SSRIs making you feel better & so you get your appetite back. I…

I understand this completely because I am going through the exact same thing. My problem is anxiety, but anxiety & depression kind of overlap...as do the medications given for them. I had a heart to heart with my doctor & he was awesome. He understood because he lost over 100 lbs himself before he got into med school. I…

Please do not feel intimidated by the gym...I understand how you feel, but you just have to get in there & try things. Never in my life did I think I would love Zumba. I tried it at one gym & hated it. A friend was teaching it & convinced me to try it again. I LOVE it now. And I honestly believe that is what has helped me…

Wow...bet that was a culture shock... I lived in Marietta GA for 21 yrs. I am in SC now.
-
I agree with the ones that have said that you CAN do this....nothing worth having is easy. What has helped me is making friends at my gym that keep me accountable. If you track your food on mfp, you will start seeing how many calories and fat are in the stuff...particularly fast food & if you are like me, you begin to…

I did this the other day....he laughed SO hard at me...

Are you working out too? That gain could be muscle...one or two pounds could even be water weight. I did WW once & I did lose, but then one day I gained ONE POUND & I cried all the way home. WW works for lots of people, including my mom, who has been on maintenance for years. This past January, I joined a program at my gym…

Yes! I have 3 and they are my children. I have a Golden named Myo (he was being trained to be a service dog but got hurt & couldn't go out in service...Myo is Latin for muscle...he was named for a woman who had ALS). Myo was with me through vet school & he is my soul dog. I will never forget what he did for me during that…
