I read recently that weight loss products are a billion-dollar industry, but Americans just keep getting fatter and fatter. Could it just be that it's because nothing works but cutting calories and exercising?! I've read the comments here, and I went and read through a few of the reviews for this book on Amazon. I have to…

I don't think you even need to worry about it, because any reputable surgeon is not going to perform the surgery on you. You must be at more risk of mortality than the risks that the surgery carries, not to mention that you have to show your diet efforts, counseling, etc. You are far too young and at 40 pounds overweight,…

I haven't done a MB in 25 years, but I don't think my personality has changed much. I was/am INFP. I'm a nurse but haven't done bedside nursing in over 20 years-I'm administrative now.

Red wine is good, if you can stick to a glass or 2. It's heart smart in moderation. I've been told, but not sure if it's really the case, that the best "diet" alcohol is vodka. The "clear" liquors have no carbs. Stay away from sugary mixers though! I try to stick to Michelob Ultra if I drink beer or better yet, Bud Select…

I'm very sorry about your ring. In the event you don't get it back, here's an idea... Take this opportunity to renew your vows when you get your new ring! Make it a very special little ceremony and make it a new beginning! :flowerforyou: I've never lost my ring, but I did get a new set about 10 years ago. We took the…

I quit on May 5, 2009 and have the weight to prove it! :ohwell: Better than dying of lung cancer or heart disease. I used an electronic cigarette. I smoked for 30+ years, and was up to almost 2 ppd when I finally quit. I used both for about a month, fhen realized I didn't need the real thing. For about a year, I weaned…

I am/was apple shaped. I am 5'4". When I started at 159, I was wearing a size 16. I hated it because I needed the 16 to be able to wrap around my waist. Even my tops had to be extra large to fit around my torso but the sleeves and bust area were huge on me. I've only lost 8 pounds but I'm down 2 sizes and fit for the most…

If you are on Pinterest, look for skinnytaste. Fabulous recipes!

Once I walked in to find mine in bed with his girlfriend. Oh...that wasn't my roommate, that was my then husband! :noway: Needless to say, he's not my husband anymore! :ohwell:

Personally, I think they are dangerous. I was thinking about doing a juice "fast" and found this article. I'd already made up my mind not to do it but this article covers the dangers pretty well... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18595886/ns/health-diet_and_nutrition/t/experts-warn-detox-diet-dangers/#.T-rUso5E5qs

Bump, because I want to know! DH says I should not lift heavy (maybe he's worried I will get hurt) so I'm very interested in other opinions.

This is exactly why logging activity is so individualized! Great story!

Such bad food, but when I was young and could eat anything... Fritos dipped in chocolate ice cream Chocolate milk shakes and fries I'm so hungry...

Nahhhh, overrated... I live there!

Yeah, just gonna say this too...I hate it when people who've lost 55 pounds complain about complaining! :noway:

I eat Nature's Own bread. Love, love! I get either the Whole Wheat (50 calories per slice) or Whole Grain (70 calories per slice). Both have substance (read gluten) and meet whole grains requirements. I won't eat anything else! The hot dog and hamburger rolls are awesome as well! Bread is one of the foods where I will go…

Gordon Biersch Tapas! I thought I was getting a great deal... Roasted garlic, bruschetta, olive tapenade, and hummus with herb flatbread (I knew the flatbread would be high). I even checked the calories before I ordered-460. Ok, not really bad, I thought, it was my entire meal. What I failed to take note of is that the…

I like that you are planning for it, which means you aren't impulse eating at McD's. One of my weaknesses is potato chips. I don't eat them every day but if someone told me I had to give them up forever, I'd never succeed. I DO plan for them by weighing them and putting them in baggies. Even if it's a half or quarter…

That's what I thought too... :ohwell:

Oh, well OK, thanks! I didn't realize that.

Unless I can scan my food, if I am in doubt, I check other websites for calorie content, then come back to MFP to find the closest thing that matches. I find that nutritiondata.self.com is pretty reliable, as is calorieking.com. For me, as long as the calorie, protein, carb and fat contents are reasonably accurate, I don't…

This is exactly what I have been doing. And it isn't working. MFP set me at 1200 calories. I log everything, eat my exercise calories and I still weigh the same as I did 5 weeks ago.
-
Yes, I've read that entire thread. :) In fact, I think I've read almost every thread there is on how to set your calories. Way TMI I think. LOL!

Thanks!! So by your calculations, eating too few calories isn't the problem, as I have been eating around 1350-1400 a day and not losing. I cannot figure out how much to figure for weight lifting. Maybe I'm burning more than I think??? This is where I get so confused.
