  • I'm just perplexed as to why anyone would go to the effort of commenting (some people multiple times) on something that doesn't apply to them. If you're weighing food and counting calories very carefully, you don't need this. That's like me going onto a thread that talks about diabetic guidelines and saying "I just eat…
  • Hey @OhMsDiva , out of curiosity, who told you you were supposed to eat "2 cups of veggies per day"? As you've noted, that's not really a helpful or meaningful prescription.
  • That's kind of what it was for... never, EVER intended it to replace MFP, weighing, measuring, etc. It's just my personal findings in answer to my personal question of "when you say 'eat 5 servings of vegetables', what is that meant to mean?". For those of you who eat more than this, cool. I mean, no one only eats one…
  • @Francl27 ... It's a scientifically proven fact that nitpicky people who can't just leave something they see alone if they don't like it are universally disliked by their friends. I checked the statistics. Now, I'm not going to go thru the 2016 roster of everyone who qualifies to see if your name is included in the…
  • You honestly can't look at an apple and say "that looks quite a bit larger than yesterday's apple, it must have proportionately more calories. I should probably consider it as a 'large' apple, which is about a serving and a half"? ALSO, on precise measurements, do you weigh the core when you're done to see how much you…
  • Thank you @CooCooPuff , I too can use google. But This is meant to be a QUICK REFERENCE chart. Like, I'm at work, there is free salad, about how much of my base requirement does that cover. 80 grams is 1/6 of a pound? The **** kind of tiny apples are 6 to a lb? As a group, you are aggravating and ridiculous. I maintain…
  • Hence the caveat of "medium apple". Which is about 2 3/4" in diameter. Seriously, you guys. You are telling me that you believe that a person who cannot differentiate between a "small" and "medium" apple CAN look at it and go "well, that's about 80 grams"? Who are these savants and where do you find them? I'm a fairly…
  • That much is true. But I got these from several different health/government sources, such as the USDA and WHO. It probably WOULD make more sense to quantify a serving by caloric or fiber or glucose content, but that's not what the people guiding nutritional minimums are doing. I myself eat more than a cup of vegetables at…
  • On "accuracy".... you DO realize that fruit can vary calorically from harvest, to harvest, right? Like, they're not IDENTICAL so you are never going to have absolutely accurate measurements unless you test the caloric values of everything you eat (and I promise no one in the world has time for that). It's a delta of 1-2…
  • I don't weigh my food. I do know what a cup looks like. You have a WHOLE DATABASE on here for food by the gram. This is a quick takeaway for me to know that I'm getting at least 7 servings of fruit and vegetables a day. I thought it might be useful to someone else. I'm not saying this is all you need or that this tool is…
  • I'm @ 230 and committed to losing 55 before September.
  • Well, there's about a 15 calorie difference in between apple sizes. So, unless you are eating a LOT of apples, the delta isn't really a meaningful difference. You know when you're eating a medium apple (say, a pink lady) vs an extra small (like a crab apple). If you NEED to the gram measurements, well, then you'll need to…
  • Look at you all svelte and adorable!! I'll have to pull out some old ones for a b/a shoot.

  • Thanks guys! Yeah, moving and getting sick completely torpedoed my progress here, but I'm nothing if not tenacious. So let's do this!!
  • Awesome.
  • I'm either dressing up as * Black Canary (if I can figure out a costume that does not involve a bodysuit) to go with my husband's Green Arrow, OR * as a nightmare dressed like a daydream- pretty hair and makeup, fancy dress, beating heart in one hand and an ax strapped to my back.
  • Well, this is embarrassing, since this was my idea, but here's what I've got: Wk 1:0.5 lbs Wk 2:0.5 lbs Wk 3: 1 lb Wk 4: 0 lbs Wk 5: +1.5 lbs Wk 6: packed the scale to move Wk 7: moving into a new house Wk 8: sick as a dog Wk 9: where the f* did I put that damn scale? • Lol, @jmd543 you put it in exactly the right place. Thank you so much for helping to keep us all moving forward when I dropped the ball!! MVP award for this month goes to you!!
  • I'm in!! I'm sorry I've been MIA- moving destroyed my immune system and I had the stomach flu THEN a cold. Not fun. But a New Year's Challenge starting Nov. 1 sounds pretty great!
  • Hopefully I can unpack the damn scale soon. I am seriously rethinking this whole buying a house thing and possibly becoming a nomad, relying on Starbucks wifi and the kindness of strangers. I have definitely gained weight, no idea how much, and my arms have gone and un-toned themselves. The large quantity of alcohol that…
  • You guys are awesome! I promise to be more on top of this starting next week- closing on a house is a full-time job!! (Hopefully, I will ALSO get myself back on track next week.) Thank you all for being amazing!!
  • BUSY workweek, no time for the gym so... 2 weeks with 1 day of gym time put in makes it no surprise that I've gained the week. :disappointed: MUST get back in the saddle here. Wk 1:0.5 lbs Wk 2:0.5 lbs Wk 3: 1 lb Wk 4: 0 lbs Wk 5: +1.5 lbs Total Lost: 0.5 lbs
  • That is AWESOME @MakePeasNotWar
  • I hurt my back over the weekend and we're in the process of moving, so I took it VERY easy on myself this week. Back to work next week! Wk 1:0.5 lbs Wk 2:0.5 lbs Wk 3: 1 lb Wk 4: 0 lbs. Total Lost: 2 lbs
  • Moving in the right direction @JamieD328 ! Did you hear back from your doc yet?
  • How's everyone doing?
  • Those wings look really cool!
  • B) = b) Anyway. So I seem to not be losing pounds as such, but I'm down 2 inches off my waist in 4 weeks, so there's definite progress. At SOME point the scale has to agree, right? Or, I guess the alternative is that I am just 225 for life and I build some epic muscles. Oh well.
