  • I just read and really enjoyed "Life after life" Kate Atkinson. I also liked 11/22/63 by Stephen King.
  • pure awesomenessin a tiny package :)
  • Sounds like you're off to a great start - and 40 minutes is excellent for someone who hasn't been exercising. As for this Mario - tell him if he wants to gab to get out and walk with you, or just don't stop. Good luck, Derek. I know you can do this. Hope you've dumped that cola. It will make it easier in so many ways.
  • Or it could be the battery. I wet my strap under the tap before using. But if it keeps doing it, it could be the battery in the transmitter. Do you leave it attached between workouts? That can shorten battery life. Do you wash the strap in the washing machine every week or so? That's supposed to be a good thing too.
  • I make extra food, or sometimes I make food special just to have for lunches. Some of my faves are: a) mexican-spicy (or not) ground turkey breast to eat in corn tortilla or on a bed of spinach with avocado, tomato or salsa, a bit of greek yogurt. Often I'll heat up the meat, spinach, a laughing cow wedge and mix it all…
  • Full body takes me about 50-60 minutes, but that's because I do 10 minute warmup and 10 minute cooldown.
  • Body pump got me interested in lifting. I still like it a lot - when I can I will do 2 heavy lifting sessions on my own and hit a pump class for a 3rd strength day. And I tell you what - I'm often more sore after pump; it's just different doing lower weights for soooo many reps. Body combat - addicted. At first I wasn't…
  • Seems like a rather HUGE nsv to me - first time in 20 years? And you look wonderfuL! Keep up the great work.
  • That's just want he doesn't want. The problem is he feels too full. He needs 2-3 TBS of PB with his snack. He needs to add more calorie-dense food to his meals/snacks so that he gets the calories but not the feeling of overeating. Dried fruits and nuts would be a great addition. chocolate milk/protein shakes/smoothies…
  • wow, you've made impressive gains in a short time. Try to be a bit more patient :)
  • AMAZING!! you look terrific. You look so happy and proud - as you should be :) Keep it up.
  • some of it is nonsense. "whey protein can quickly raise blood sugar and insulin levels," - it actually drops blood sugar levels because it does raise insulin levels. That's not a bad thing, especially if it is after weight training. And I'm usually rather full/content after my shake. Also, I find it rather economical. I…
  • I can't wear my running shoes for combat or my knees hurt. I wore my first pair out - nike free xt. They were good. Now I have inov8s. I like them a lot too. I use them for combat, pump, and lifting.
  • I almost always get above 400, as long as I use enough weight (for me that means 20kg for back, 10kg for arms and in between for other things). I'm 150lb.
  • Frankly, who am I to judge. If they are fine going out and about like that more power to them. Seriously, legs that are frequently shaved are the prickly/annoying ones. If you let the hair grow a week or two (on someone who "needs" to shave practically daily) it becomes much softer. It's the 2-3 day stubble that's the…
  • i'm a beginning lifter. I need 125-140 right now for squats and deadlifts. I assume I'll need more. depends on if you are serious about lifting. Even bodypump bars and weights can go way over 20lbs. Easily can do 50-60 lbs on those and they're vinyl, I think.
  • it's fun. I still mix it in with regular weight training. It's a good way to get bit by weight training bug :). And sometimes I'm way more sore after a BP class than I am from a good lifting session. Start off slow but don't use the same very light weights week after week after week (I see that a lot in some of the classes…
  • I do the classes at the gym so I can't speak for the DVD but treadmill/walking at 4.1+, I burn about 300 calories an hour. A 55 minute combat class is usually good for at least 500 for me. Oftentimes >600.
  • I like to get to 300-600 to consider it a good workout. I can get 300 by walking for an hour at 4.0. I can get 500+ doing bodycombat class (average hr for the hour=~160). So I think 500 is a great workout.
  • Do yourself a big favor and make some time to exercise (you do have time). Trust me on this. Not just for the weight loss but for being healthy/feeling good. Also, make sure you are eating enough. Set your goals to lose 1 lb/week. Any more is for people much larger than you. Try to be patient :)
  • We have a senseo which they apparently have stopped making. I like it much better than keurig (we have it at work) as long as I buy better pods for it (i.e. not the ones labeled Senseo). I also like it better because it doesn't have plastic - can compost the pods. Also, they have (I have) refillable "ecopods" for use with…
  • Mine are pretty darn big compared to the rest of my legs, but for all those who say "too big for boots" - they have a lot more boots now than they used to. I've seen some that say 18" or 19" . And some are even cute :) Check zappos and search for wide calf boot. Just be sure to measure up where the boot goes to check…
  • I think you have done spectacularly esp given the problem. I feel your pain - as a teenager I had urticaria /dermatographia and suffered thru many sleepless nights and days. Never did pin down a cause to that or the swollen foot/ankle I had that they also figured was auto-immune related. Both pretty much resolved by my…
  • awesome job! You look great. Looks like more than 50 - but that's probably because you lost at a nice slow rate and your body has caught up to the loss. Or maybe you're lifting or something :) Keep up the good work!
  • It's definitely a workout. If you think 300/hr is an overestimate, take it down a little. I would probably eat at least an extra 500-600 on work days, based on 4 hrs. No way can it be compared to "cleaning house" or "cooking". You'll need to listen to your body and it may take some experimenting but I bet you are not…
  • You go, girl! I'd say you're right :)
  • i'm thinking 168
  • haha, That's cute. I refused as well - what a ridiculous ripoff. I just don't get it. I bought myself some 2" washers. A little more $ than your $1 weights, but I go to the gym. I think I need to spray paint them - they leave a cruddy residue.
  • For 1 cup of dry steelcut oats, I use half of a large grated apple, 1 cup silk pure coconut milk, 3 cups water, dash of salt. To me it is perfect this way, but sometimes I add a few raisins or seeds or nuts.
