Open Diary here too. Have a good old nose :)

*waves* Hi there!

Hello all! Female 5ft 9inches SW: 303 CW: 179.5 (that half pound makes all the difference!!) GW: 150 (I think) 30 years old (for a few more months anyway!) Anyone? :)

I'm surprised it's still telling you 1200 - maybe your numbers are just like that, try setting it to 1/2lb and see what it says. I can't see your diary, so I can't really help you too much. What height and weight are you? How many calories do you burn per workout? Sorry to be a negative nelly :) 2 weeks doesn't really seem…

Totally! Taking charge and taking names isn't scary :) Feel empowered by your decision and kick *kitten* ;) Good luck!

Your food and nutrition is really key here. You can work out as much as you want, but if your body isn't being fuelled properly you won't get the numbers that you are hoping for. It was all about working out how to eat in the early days for me. I only ate 1200 calories for 2 weeks then moved up to 1400 calories to make…

It may slow down, but that's not a bad thing. It means that you're doing it right! Marathon, not sprint. I'm doing the same thing at the minute myself. Slightly peeved that you have to slow down to get there properly, but glad that I have the tools and the help of people to get there eventually :)

Ahhhh the "EAT THE WORLD" craving. I know it well my friend. When that happens I drink a hot cup of tea and consider my options. I take sugar in my tea so that tends to quash the majority of cravings. If however it doesn't go away then the best option I find is a big sandwich! Plenty of carbs and protein in one easy to…

Thrilled to see other people loving their new gadgets as much as me. I was beginning to think I was a very sad person to be obsessing about it as much as I was :D I have tried out my brand new polar FT4 today - swimming and walking. Burned WAY less than MFP wanted me to be recording, but still a fantastic workout, and gave…

Calm down, slow down. It will go, you need to be easier on yourself. If you've lost weight in 6 weeks then you're doing things right. First things first, 1200 is not really sustainable, it's a bare minimum for MFP, I would say up your calories to a 1lb per week loss. That will give you some breathing room. Next, remember…

Sorry to hijack, but: Really? How?
-
My polar FT4 arrived today! I'm thrilled already :D

When I started out, the idea of walking to work was so awful that it made me feel ill. You're doing so fantastically well to do what you're doing. As you start to feel better you will *WANT* to do more, that's the amazing thing about the lifestyle change approach to losing weight. Rather than forcing yourself down the gym…

28lbs left to go here! Feel free to add me! :)

First thing in the morning on a Monday morning after going to the loo :) I like Monday as my weighin day as it kind of keeps me on track over the weekend!

I stopped biting my nails when I had my braces as a teenager! Too darn sore! Didn't lose any weight though, just found marshmallow sweets instead :D

Agreed! :)

The scale is a useful tool, especially in the early days when there's a lot to lose. It gives you a reference point you can rely on. As you get nearer to your goal you may find that the scale becomes less friendly, it's then that the measurements you take and indeed the fit of your clothes becomes the better indicator.…

I hear this! I'm still about 28 pounds from goal and can't quite work out what I'm supposed to be buying to suit me! I have this hideous self image that I'm walking round like a reject from the Ricki Lake show!

Well done! This realisation is what kicked me in my yo-yoing butt about 2 years ago. We can't change who we are, whiskey and pizza are lovely lovely things, but the feeling that you get from a great workout and healthy lifestyle is lovely too! Good luck with the way ahead :)

Northern Ireland here! Hello!
-
Stick with it. I'm having the same cravings myself. Far too many choccie biccies! Try Peppermint tea and fruit!
-
^^ This! Compare yourself to yourself! I still get astonished when I look at pictures of me now from as little as 3 years ago. You are a wonderful person and the only person you should be compared to is yourself :)

Yes. I fully credit my partner with getting my lifestyle changed as he told me he was afraid I was going to die. I realised I was being selfish in a way because I was going to shorten our time together. I am grateful everyday for that conversation we had.

One day at a time is all you can do. Make the decision to change and follow the rules of the tools :) I sound like a cliche generator don't I? Seriously though, all the kit is here, as long as you're ready to do it. Address your relationship with food and prepare to get better :) Good luck! Feel free to add me if you like!

Stewed apple and cinnamon! Take your favourite type of apple, peel and core it and then chop it into little bits. Put into the pot that you're going to make your porridge with a little bit of water and cook down slowly with a little bit of brown sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. It should go delightfully soggy. Add your oats…

Congratulations!!! Here's to the next target milestone!!! :D

For what it's worth, I'm eating 1500 - 1600 calories a day and still losing. (just what MFP tells me what I should be eating - including my exercise calories) The beginning few months are a pain in the bum it has to be said. The scale is a filthy liar and is not to be trusted! Get your tape measure out, take a few…

Oh my god I had this EXACT problem! Ok, I don't know where you are based but there are some great ones from Marks and Spencers http://www.marksandspencer.com/Ultimate-Magic-Define-Waist-Cincher/dp/B003TUBPWK?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_23&nodeId=309701031&sr=1-23&qid=1313219023 That I Swear by. Also the equivalent in the tights are…

Ditto here, though I can't blame my office job for my lack of effort for the many years before I had it! I started taking my full allocated hour at lunch time and walking as far as I can and back during it. Sneak my sandwich at my desk when I get back :) The baby steps are the greatest things that you can do at this stage.…
