Sometimes we are hungry out of habit. You associate coming home with eating dinner, relaxing and de-stressing. I can feel fine at work, and the moment I get home I am ravenous. Try to make a new habit when you get home so food isn't the first order of business.

I thought you meant you had running fever, like you loved running . . . actually running a fever is not as good. Just eat what you want, take it easy. Hope you feel better soon.

ThIs is a really entertaining thread. I love the odd combination of things that are really bad (outliving children) and things that are completely harmless (crawfish and small insects). It's interesting to think about why we fear certain things which seem irrational. For me, death. And butterflies.

Agree with the above. If you think you have a medical problem (nausea, exercise intolerance), you should see a doctor. The best way to treat your body properly is to eat high quality, nutritious food, and enough of it. Please don't do this.

That's about right, mathematically speaking. Losing 1.5 lbs a week would require a 750 cal daily deficit.

You can also put them in water or other beverages. http://ohsheglows.com/2013/03/01/chia-fresca-a-natural-energy-drink/ I'll toss them into my water bottle on occasion. Keep some dental floss on hand though!

I think it's awesome and am impressed with your workplace for being ahead of the curve. It definitely burns more calories, but more importantly it keeps your muscles active due to slight weight shifts, increases NEAT, and improves biomarkers of health. There have been studies showing that sitting for long periods is linked…

Well that Dr. sounds like a jerk and I agree with the others he might not be the best one for you. Strength training will help you preserve muscle mass while you lose weight on a low calorie diet, or contribute to improved body composition if you eat closer to maintenance. I hope in time you can start to deal with some of…

The problem here isn't the meds or the psychiatrist. It's your discomfort with "looking" overweight. It sounds like you have some pretty serious, even life threatening, medical issues to deal with right now. Health is a priority. There is nothing wrong with looking overweight. Can you work with this to tell yourself it's…

Well I haven't read all the replies, but just going back to basic principles . . . Your body responds to the specific demands placed on it. So if you do cardio, you will become more cardiovascularly efficient. You will also burn calories. Burning calories is the way cardio helps with fat loss and this can be done with less…

Interesting, thanks! Just goes to show, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...
-
You know what burns a lot of calories? Being chased. :)

Cool! I am trying to do the same thing and am maintaining weight. A book that really helped me is "how to have your cake and skinny jeans too" by Josie Spinardi. Can't recommend it highly enough. I had success with logging/counting and reached my goal weight, but then I found that what I really wanted, even more than being…

It's not something that can be disproved. It's just the strategy of using a smaller deficit for more sustainable weight loss.

Yes, but not net 1700 -- eat 1700 total. Forget about net if you're using TDEE. Also, it's true that your daily activity setting here should not include exercise you are planning to log. At the same time, it's unlikely you're truly sedentery if you have a job, go to school, leave the house at all... I think this…

I have this too (so many of us!). I think eating salt and carbs helps. I don't tend to eat a lot of carbs (or salt) unless I make a special effort and I've read that low carb will increase salt excretion. I usually feel better after a big plate of nachos. As a general rule. Also drinking too much water without added…

I agree with this. But it's no surprise. That's how society is, MFP is no different. What I don't understand is how everyone seemed to know you were supposed to pick a cool user name. When I joined I thought it was just the name you signed in with. Still trying to figure out what to change it to, unfortunately I don't…

Sorry, if I'd known you were such a cute kitten I never would have joked about it. I wonder if joking about reporting a post is itself in violation of the CG, like a prank call to 911.

The "person" comment was referring to the alkaline diet spam guy and was an edit in response to an edit that I was not quoting. Don't know how that could have been confusing...
-
I didn't report it. I was kidding. Obviously not very effectively. Carry on with the argument over food companies making food taste good. :flowerforyou:
-
I was thinking the "all that is good and holy" one. 42c? That "person" has been reported. Plus, a raw alkaline diet surely consists of little more than natural peanut butter. Which, by the way, you are supposed to stir.
-
OK, I am not easily offended, but I am on the verge of reporting this to the moderators.
-
He may be referring to the fact that the liver can make glucose from scratch and that the brain can also use ketones for energy when a person is in ketosis. I agree that it is incorrect to imply that people need to eat "sugar" in order for their brain to function.
-
Don't you think they're just trying to get people to buy their product?
-
You simply need to eat more calories. You might need to go back to logging for awhile until you figure out the appropriate amount to maintain your weight.
-
You guys are amazing!

Your net and your goal should be the same. So if your goal is 1300 and you eat 700 but burn 500 in exercise, you are only netting 200. You want to net 1300 so should eat 1100 more. Does that make sense? The reason is that MFP sets you at a goal with a built in deficit. If you exercise, you increase the deficit more, which…

I thought it did a really good job of laying out progressions. It also puts a lot of emphasis on strength vs 3x20 reps. I'm looking for a new routine, so am going to try it, but I will probably have to start with the "easier than beginner" routine. Also like the deep step up as a squat progression, I hadn't seen that…

I'm sure your doctor is a smart guy but that doesn't mean he took the time to figure out how the site was supposed to work. Don't feel guilty eating them at all, they are helping you lose weight in a healthier and more sustainable way.

Ok, just spent the last 5 minutes google imaging America's cup. Speaking as a lifelong sailor, some of those boats and the things they do wih them bring my heart into my throat. I'm getting all clammy... Maybe the OP needs to clarify what she means by bloating. There's intestinal bloating, and then there's water retention.…
