  • You're not overtraining, but sounds like you could use some extended rest to help your body recover right now. In the future, try working in deload weeks in which you go easy on your workouts. You don't have to go hard 100% of the time... taking a week of low weight/light intensity can do wonders for your progress and…
  • Sorry, thought a caloric surplus was assumed. Even when bulking I try to keep my protein high, but that's just me.

  • There's a reason most strength training programs start you at 3x a week and no more. Rest days are huge. Now, there's such a thing as active recovery. Doing stuff like yoga, light cardio, mobility work, etc. on your non training days are a great way to stay active and benefit your training.
  • I'd recommend high protein over high carbs. If you do a lot of cardio, then maybe high carb would work well.

  • If I don't stretch and do mobility exercises, my ability to do some exercises is diminished. So yes, I stretch frequently.
  • Treat alcohol as you would a dessert. If you have room for it at the end of the day without blowing up your macros/calorie limit, enjoy some in moderation. You may not want to treat yourself daily, but there's no real harm in it as long as you are still hitting your daily goal. For me, if I'm cutting I'll do straight…

  • People can screw themselves up on anything. I make my own preworkout with caffeine powder, never had an issue because I'm not an idiot who eyeballs powders that are measured in milligrams.
  • Inov-8's are great for cross training. Stable enough for lifts while still being good for running. If I'm deadlifting heavy singles, I'll wear an old pair of new balance minimus. For heavy squats, cleans, or snatches I wear lifting shoes. I use Reebok Crossfit lifters because I got a pair for 60$ on sale. If money wasn't…
  • The most recent science is quickly reversing the stance that saturated fat is bad. Avoid trans fats and keep your calories in line. You'll be fine.
  • This isn't true in the slightest.

  • Just use your wod time under circuit training. Don't count stretch time and skill work unless it's intensive.

  • Caffeine can give you a few weeks worth of minimal results if you don't normally use caffeine. Everything else doesn't work, or is illegal/unsafe.
  • It depends on your goals. Walking your dogs really isn't very much exercise. But if strength and fitness aren't an issue for you, and you can keep your weight down without more exercise then don't bother. If you want to be stronger and in better shape, then a gym or another exercise routine will be a good idea for you.
  • Paleo works very well for some people. It's not a miracle diet that will cure all your ills, but some people find they feel pretty good cutting out some foods. For me, I find that eating paleo can help makes it easier to naturally hit my macros and calorie goals without having to plan it out.
  • If trying to gain weight, I'll do a shake of whole milk + whey protein + banana + peanut butter for lunch. Solid food is usually not an option for me during the day. Quest bars make a decent snack if you have time for it.
  • Find a coach before you attempt snatches. Cleans are OK to try on your own, but you would still be much better off with coaching. Bear complex (the one posted above) is the most common one, and very effective.
  • Smith machine is good for close grip bench press. I wouldn't squat in it.
  • I'd also suggest sticking with body weight exercises until you're able to get some help on your form. Harder to hurt yourself.
  • Everyone I've met in the real world that has done weight watchers lost a little weight and then immediately gained it all back.
  • 1200 calories is a pretty low calorie goal for most. Reevaluate your daily calorie allowance. Also, avoiding carb heavy items goes a long way.
  • If I know I'm going to be eating/drinking more calories at night, I'll eat smaller amounts for breakfast/lunch to compensate. But honestly, you may need to step back and ask why you go out each weekend. Is it for the drinks and food or is it to hang out with your friends? You can still go and not partake in the…
  • It depends. Genetics, age, the pace of weight loss, and how you lose it all factor in. Take good care of your skin (moisturize etc.), lose weight at a reasonable pace using a mix of strength training and cardio, and cross your fingers.
  • Just take it in moderation. Track all your food and fit them within your calorie goals.

  • A mix of strength training and high intensity interval training. Normally you'd go to a gym specifically designed for it with a coach who takes care of putting together a class consisting of a warm-up, some kind of strength training, and then a 10-20 minute workout. Lots of barbell work, some gymnastic movements, and…
  • HGH is a pretty bad idea for weight loss reasons. Medically, legally, and even financially a bad decision.
  • Search youtube for mobilitywod videos. It has a crossfit focus, but still has great stretching/mobility tips for anyone.
  • Strengthen your core. Do yoga/pilates to help with this and your flexibility. Work on planks, sit ups, cable crunches, etc. It's no substitute for proper form, but good flexibility and core strength can help you keep proper form. Dial back your weights. Focus on going very slow and controlled, activating the muscles that…
  • I do crossfit, generally after work where I'm lucky if I get to eat a quest bar for lunch. I'll usually just chug down some flavored BCAAs to help me get through it.
  • Any good crossfit coach will be able to scale the movements to your ability level. Keep in mind it will be intense, you will be sore, and you may even want to quit after a week. Scaled isn't meant to be easy, it's meant to bring it into your ability level while still pushing you.
  • Just keep track of your calories and you'll lose weight over time.
