Mine is a Proform (can't remember the model) but I got it about 4 years ago at Sports Authority for $700 on sale. I bought a cheap one from Walmart first. It took my boyfriend hours to put it together. It was rickety and cheap feeling so I took it back. Went to Sports Authority, bought one for about $500 on sale. Took my…

Congratulations for sticking with it. That's very hard to do week after week when the scale's not moving.

Hey everyone. Today is my weigh in day and I'm down 5.6 lbs from Sept 1. Still have 3 more days in the month so I'm going to shoot for another .4 loss for a "cushion". Love this challenge. It really keeps me on track. Good luck everyone.

I can definitely tell a difference! Congrats on your loss so far and good luck as you continue your healthy lifestyle. Thanks for posting pics. They are so motivating. :flowerforyou:

Nope, you're not alone. Must be genetic cause my 3 sisters get beet read and sweat like crazy too. Like trisha329, my head/hair gets soaking wet. When I'm exercising in the house, I actually wear a sweat band (can't believe I am admitting this) otherwise I'd be wiping my forehead the whole time. My boyfriend just walks by…

Good work. Thanks for sharing. :flowerforyou:

Congratulations! Losing any amount is a big victory. I've lost 13 lbs and I worked hard for 'em so I'm thrilled. Keep on the good work and just take it one day at a time, one pound at a time. You'll get there. :drinker:

Congrats on beginning your journey to a healthier life. This site has been a wonderful motivator for me. I joined about 7 weeks ago and love the inspiration and help I get through the message boards and friends. Good luck .

I toast some almond slivers and stir into the rice when it's almost done. Love the nutty flavor the almonds add plus they are good for you (in moderation).

I choose to quit focusing on how much weight I've got to lose and how fast I can lose it. So what if it takes me 2 years to take it off! Instead I'm going to focus on one day at a time because today is the only day I can control. One day at a time, one workout at a time, one healthy food choice at a time and one pound at a…

The Alice Springs Chicken at the Outback I had about 4 weeks ago. 30 minutes later I felt like it was sitting in my stomach like a brick. Not to mention it did not taste good enough to push me 800 calories over my limit that day!

Thanks for the info. I love pineapple so this won't be hard (except the portion control part).

I go by the HRM I wear. The elliptical always says I burn more but the treadmill says I burn less. Since the HRM I wear is based on my personal data and has a chest sensor that calculates my heart rate continuously, it's probably more accurate.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing. It was an very eye-opening post about the changes that occur by becoming healthier. It's not just about the number on the scale.

I'm in. This is the first challenge I've participated in so I'm kinda nervous. Brings up feelings of "what if I fail"? But I'm being positive and I know if I'm willing to put the time and effort in, I can do it. BRING IT!!! CW - 211 GW - 206 by 9/30/10

Hi Donna and welcome. I have been a member of MFP for 4 weeks today and love it. Keeping track of my calories has been so helpful to me. It makes me think twice about eating something I shouldn't when I know I've got to put it in my tracker. It has also made me realize how out of control my portions sizes were! Good luck…

I get ultra crabby around that TOM, just ask my poor boyfriend. :grumble: And I want to eat everything that isn't nailed down. Good thing for me I dont' keep junk food in the house any more. Believe me, I can't really gorge myself on fruit the way I can a bag of chips or cookies. Drink lots of water between now and lunch…

You are so right! Occasional indulgences didn't get me where I am today, it was the everyday, every meal indulgences. Great comment.

4oz hamburger on the grill (93% lean), with 2% cheese single, onion, tomato then wrapped in lettuce instead of using a bun. Fresh corn on the cob that I will also cook on the grill. Kind of a quick and easy dinner tonight because I have to work until 6:00, workout for 45 minutes and be finished with dinner by the time Big…

I'm going into my 4th week and finally, my cravings and constant "hunger pains" are tapering off. I guess my body is finally getting used to eating a normal amount of calories instead of 5,000 a day. One thing I have noticed that helps me is to eat a breakfast with lots of protein then I don't have to fight the…

I started reading Twilight on July 2, 2010 and finished Breaking Dawn 10 days later so I am a new Twi-hard fan. I heart Edward too!! Just started reading The Witness by Sandra Brown today.

Congrats! Don't you just love this site? Keep on the good work. I wish they would come out with a Blackberry app. :grumble:

Awesome story about your journey. Just reminds me that everyday, ordinary people can do this. I can do this. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kim, Welcome. I have been on here 3 weeks today and have loved every minute of it. Having friends helps keep me motivated and inspired. The search engine for the message boards is great. Just type in your topic and it will pull gobs of posts related to your topic. I have found, and cooked, several recipes from here…

My final straw was a family vacation at the beach 4 weeks ago. The whole week I was miserable and hated going on the beach. Struggled to get up out of those beach chairs (the ones that sit low to the ground). My breathing was awful just walking down the the beach. We went to an amusement park and for the first time in my…

Up until I broke my foot 3 years ago it was running. I loved the feeling when I ran 3 miles the very first time without walking, or dying! Can't do a lot of running now because of the tendons I damaged when I broke my foot. Right now I love Turbo Jam. It makes me feel strong and mean.

You don't know how may times I've said the first sentence in your post! This time I am determined that my focus is going to be on lifestyle changes, not just about the numbers on the scale. I am tired of being tired and lazy so I'm doing this for my health and to feel better. Good luck to you and feel free to send me a…
