It could be shin splints. Are you stretching after you run? Make sure you get it checked out before you continue, you don't want to tear anything. Good luck.

The Swiss Balls are great for core support.

I have one that I got at Best Buy. I believe it was about $100 (Christmas Gift). It is a Sportsline. Pain in the neck to set up though LOL. I am basically happy with it. Using it mostly to monitor my heart rate when exercising. Calories burned seem to coincide with this site. The Pedometer part is neat too, but I am too…

Yes, thanks. I should be between 100 - 150, which is a little higher then I thought. Now I just need to know if it is unhealthy to stay above that 150 heart rate for any length of time. Thanks for everyones input.

You sound a lot like me. I am 53 years old, I started at 212 lbs and I am 5'7 1/2 " tall. I would like to get down to the 150's. As of today I am down 7 lbs, which I am very happy with. I started this program 3 weeks ago. My husband is also doing it and that has been a big help discussing calories, exercise etc. I also am…

I also do it once a week.

You look great. I am down 7 lbs in 3 weeks and an outfit I bought before I started this journey was very tight and not very complimentary. I am wearing it today and it looks great on:-) Keep up the good work.

Taco Bell has their Fresco line of Tacos, which is a lot less calories then a burger. You can get their Fresco soft chicken Taco for 150 Calories. Two of them and I am satisfied with my fast food fix:-) Only wish they carried unsweet ice tea. One of the few places that doesn't.

When you are on the elliptical, remember to do some minutes in reverse too. Whole different muscle group and that direction really makes my heart rate go up. As some of the posts say, take your measurements, you are probably losing inches as you gain muscles. You are doing great, keep exercising.

Weight Watchers says that most veggies are a free food in their program. I would eat those and not worry about the calories if you are over. I have never heard of anyone gaining weight eating too many veggies:-)

I am 53 years old and the doctor told me that my blood count numbers were going up in the wrong direction for diabeties, cholesterol, etc. Knew I needed to do something years ago, and decided this was finally the time for me.

Thank you! My husband and I were wondering about that too.

Excellent post! If you can take the word "diet" out of your vocabulary and just say that it is a" life change", you will be successful. When I was on weight watchers my instructor always saved herself a day that she could splurge on a donut or two. You can't deprive yourself of the foods you like, you will just crave them…

Did you measure yourself? You could very well be losing a lot more inches then weight with all the exercise you do. As everyone said you are doing great. Slow but sure. As some one reminded me, it took you a while to put this weight on, it is going to take awhile to get it off. Hang in there
-
Excellent point. You can't diet for your husband. I've been there and it is too stressful:-)
-
I know this probably doesn't relate to you, but some low back pain is actually caused by stiff hamstrings. Make sure daily stretching is part of your routine.

I am doing the life style change. Exercise, portion control, and getting my fruits and vegetables in. No pills or gimmicks for me, doesn't work.
-
I believe you can if it is decaf and you haven't added anything to it.

Reading the terms of this site, shouldn't that type of person be reported? By the way, very well said.

Change up your exercise. Your body gets use to the same routine everyday. Don't stop working out, the benefits out weigh what your scale says. Your weight loss to date is excellent. Try not to be discouraged. Look how far you have come. If you know anyone who has done Weight Watchers, the members have some great tips for…

It is not what the scale says. Muscle is heavier then fat (which I am sure all of you know). That is why they recommend you take measurements as well as monitoring the scale. I have friends who have actually gained weight but dropped two or three dress sizes. The scale is a tool, not something to live by. If you feel and…

Muscle burns fat. You should be doing strength training all along:-)

Don't walk barefoot at all. Always wear some type of shoe with an arch support. When you hurt try rolling your foot on a frozen water bottle. Go to physical therapy and inquire on getting a good set of inserts for your shoes. The inserts did the trick for me.

Thank you. I am 5 71/2" and am 53 years old. That is the goal I am also aiming for. Your weight goals do change according to your age:-)

Today is my husband's and my second day. We both went over our protein but we still have carbs and calories left. As one post suggested the calories is what matters most and then the carbs/fats. Remember you have to eat at least the minimum of calories or your body will go into starvation mode. Hang in there. A lot of this…

Eat a little something before your run. Gives your body something to burn. Eat a healthy meal after you excerise and drink a lot of water. Sometimes your body says your hungry but you are really thirsty.

Once your arm gets better. It is still 3x per week. You can do it all one day (if you have the time) or you can split it up. Just don't do the same muscle group in a row. As for Abs, I don't think this applies. You can do them any time as I understand. Just a disclaimer I worked at a physical therapy place, but I am not a…

Working at a physical therapy place for 5 years, you should do three days a week and make sure you skip at least a day in between, not three days in a row. Make sure you rest in between sets. You should feel the burn the last few reps of each set, but no sharp pains.
