Wonderful example of commitment! :flowerforyou:

Mmm, the baba ganoush sounded wonderful! I love eggplant parmesan and will have to try grilling slices of eggplant when my garden produces them this summer.

I like Sara Lee's 45 calorie bread and Pepperidge Farm 45 calorie oatmeal bread!

I don't know why you couldn't do it every once in a while--like once or twice a month. My tastes have changed in the past year--I do have occasional days when I have the mixed drinks, beer, or wine that I want, but then I've never been a big drinker. I am not on any specific diet, they've never worked for me. If I have a…

"This is seriously the start of a major life re-vamp. I want to work on EVERYTHING!!!! From finances to fitness to daily chores around the house; MY LIFE needs to get tightened up. I am tired of feeling fat and ready to let my outside show just how awesome my insides are. " I loved your last paragraph! I wouldn't try to…

Gender: Female • Age: 57 • Starting weight: 261 • Current weight: 202.7 • Goal weight: 175 • What are your reasons for wanting to lose/gain weight? Multiple reasons to lose weight--starting with: I don't want to have to take a bunch of medications to control Type II diabetes. Strong family history of osteoarthritis, which…

Peanut butter has always been a comfort food for me. Now though, I limit myself to a tablespoon at a time--sometimes on crackers or in oatmeal. Sometimes just lick it out of the tablespoon! I make sure it doesn't have extra fats or sugars in it. I'm interested in trying PB2. Can't find it locally yet, so will have to order…

Hmmm, interesting discussion. My husband and I are both on MFP and being successful at dropping weight and clothing sizes. I'm giving/selling/donating my bigger clothes as I shrink out of them. He's boxing his up and storing them. I feel it's a safety fallback to keep the bigger clothes, but he lost weight before (on diet…

Challenge: "take picture of bottom from back and side view (wearing undies or swimsuit bottom of course) Every day for 30 days.... 50 squats 50 lunges Day 30... take another picture and compare. If it's not starting to lift and firm i'll eat my words!! " Going to try this-can't hurt anyway  Tired of saggy 'elephant…

I'm 57 and have had a wonderful year here on MFP. I'm down a total of 59 pounds since Christmas 2011, and 42 pounds on here. I've done it slowly to lessen the saggy skin, but still have quite a bit of "yucky flab"! I had 2 months when I didn't really lose anything. So I had a look at my goals and activity, etc. I had put…

Definitely, MFP works for me. Over the past 15 months, I've lost a total of 59 pounds (some before MFP). I was really struggling to get myself healthier and thinner. Once I found MFP, I realized that even though I was eating healthy foods most of the time, I was getting way too many calories. Since my weight loss has been…

Doesn't sound like you've messed anything up. It's all part of learning to be the new you. If you ate too much when you ate out, try to plan your food in advance the next time. Major chain restaurants list the calories and nutrients in their dishes. If it's a smaller restaurant, you may have to do some research on your…

Loved this post! Best thing I keep in my mind is that where my thoughts are my attitude and my body go. So we all need to keep telling ourselves that we are able to lost the weight we want to lost. No negative thoughts about being unhealthy or a failure. Only positive thoughts: " I am becoming healthy." "I am succeeding at…

I just went back to my goals page. I had put myself down for 4 x per week 30 min workouts this past summer, but haven't been getting those in this winter. So I backed out 1 of the workouts, lost 200 calories per day and am seeing a very slow downward change. Of course, I just did this last Friday! So check on that.…

This sounds fabulous!

There should be classes with nutritionists or one on one with a dietician since you're diabetic. Most insurances will cover this especially with the sores on your legs. Good nutrition will help those heal a little faster (but it still takes forever). I applaud your improvement in your blood levels, but you say your A1C…

Wow, don't think anybody's attacking anyone's choices--just expressing their own personal opinions! Some of which, by the way, are hilarious!

I am 57 and friends with Eileenchristine! I don't make my food diary public, just never did! No particular reason there... Anyway, I'm on daily, log my foods and after a year of committing myself to changing my food intake and fitness--I've lost 57 pounds, 41 of them on MFP. I have eaten too much some days, don't exercise…

Yay ONEderland! Love the new you from head to toe!

Seems everyone has a different experience! Mine have gotten 1 band size and 1 cup size smaller, but no less saggy or perky than they have been for the past 30 years! :blushing:

I love vegetables, especially raw or frozen ones. I make up baggies of mixed chopped veggies to tuck in with my lunches and so I can reach into the fridge and pick up a snack quickly. Do this when you bring the veggies home, or shortly after. I found that I didn't want to reach into the vegetable drawer to pick out a whole…

Thanks so much for posting this! I thought it was because I'm older and my skin has stretched out for almost 30 years! I have the wrinkles along inner thighs--along with some smaller rolls, my flabby upper arms--even though I've got a bit of toning going on there, and my tummy apron sag! My bottom also doesn't look like I…

Good for you. Keep that sense of excitement and inspiration going!

There are so many inspirational stories on here. It helps me to read some of them daily--I say: I CAN do it! I've been able to shed 54 pounds since last January, and 38 of them since I've been on MFP. I am too sedentary, but my knees and hips feel better than in many years. I can walk longer, faster, and even uphill…

Since I'm cooking most of it, my contributions will be mainly healthier versions (I.e. less butter and fats). We always start out with the raw veggies/dip and olives, pickles, etc. But yeah, turkey and dressing, sweet potatoes with brown sugar, and pumpkin pie are on the list! Will keep recording food intake that day, even…

I use the recipe function a lot! Then I save my recipes just for myself and can click and add serving amounts/sizes quickly. Also my recent foods function helps me, because I can just click, change the portion size if needed and add.

Good birthday morning! Is it a possibility that you can walk at lunch time? Even inside if it's too hot or cold outside. I work for a school system, so in the summer, it's easy to get in the exercise, but now that school's getting ready to start--will be a struggle for me too. I always have tried to do what I need to do…

What more can I say, but WOW! You've done a great job! Wonderful inspiration for all of us.
