  • Sylvia: Yes you are right about schools and pictures. The school does get a percentage back from the picture people. Not a great deal, maybe 2 - 3 dollars a child, but it adds up. Our first round of pictures are for school yearbooks and composite school picture, the ones in spring are fancier with more choices of…

I am resetting my motivation for success on this journey! (I started to write I am trying to reset, but decided I needed a positive statement, not a…
  • Just here marking my place! Thanks for posting the 5 D's for dealing with cravings! That's one of my biggest problems..I get in the kitchen and start munching or shoveling :grumble: the food in. I'm posting the 5Ds in my kitchen so I can read it when I have cravings and hopefully that will help me delay snacking. We got…
  • Posting for the month and to reserve my spot. Allison please take to heart all the love and advice that's been given here. My goals for March are: Lose 1 pound per week Curves 3x/wk with some other exercise at least one other day Continue recording foods on MFP! Planks for at least 30 seconds daily Jeri in "just plain cold…
  • Quick note for the end of February: Love reading the posts, but if I get behind a day, I can't get them all read! Anyway, this month I reset my ticker--thanks to those who gave instructions on how to do it. I wanted it to be true for what I've lost and go forward! Gained through the holidays--10 pounds and am working on…
  • Oh my goodness! I haven't read on here for 4 days and can't believe I'll make it through all those posts! @Jettypeople--you didn't mention exercise--that usually gives a person more of an appetite. By exercise, I mean walking, dancing to music, biking, etc. Don't stress out that you can't eat the 1200 calories, but you…
  • Welcome to the new people--Harriet since your post was last, I thought I'd say that your goals are great ones and pretty measurable--especially the waist size! Prayers and a virtual hug to those with trials and tribulations right now--seems like there are lots out there. Hoping the warm up we're having spreads to the east…
  • Marking my place on this 3rd section! Wonderful weather earlier today, sunny and sweatshirt warm, but now cold, wind and ice pellets out there! Enjoyed watching and hearing the eagles outside all morning and early afternoon, while I cooked chicken vegetable stew. Jeri in currently windy, cold & wet Northwest Illinois
  • For Amy on Martha's Vineyard: Just read along as you have time, it's almost impossible to keep up with all the stuff going on in this group! Sad to hear about your new diagnosis--that can be an awfully painful thing. I have an old high school friend who suffers from constant neck twisting, she tries to keep up her spirits…
  • Wow! We must be getting close to our 500 posts already--will this month take up 3 topics instead of the usual 2? jb2011-thank you for your eating mindfully post--wonderful tips for watching what we eat! NSV quickly here--My HgbA1C was 5.5, all lab levels were wonderful, so my goals of being healthier are being achieved.…
  • Brrr...cold today with a good breeze. The sunshine is filtered by clouds today too! But it's warm here inside with my fireplace going, and a pot of bean soup on the stove. We have a "bean and okra meal" for New Years Day. My husband's family is from Mississippi, and they always had black eyed peas for good fortune in the…
  • Love that this site is already on page 6 and it's only the 4th! November goals went okay, but not what I had hoped. So goals for December are: Exercise at Curves 3x/week Keep calories with in MFP guidelines 75% of the time and not over 1900 (my rate at sedentary TDEEP or whatever those initials are!) Drink at least 64…
  • I, too, finally found this continuation post! I couldn't believe nobody had posted for 4 or 5 days! And they hadn't! To Kevrit: Hope you and grandmallie had a great time meeting up. I started Curves at the end of summer and enjoy it. I go 3x a week, the time flies when I'm there because of the music and others chatting the…
  • Welcome to all those new people on this list. You will definitely find support and lots of it on this site! I like the idea of being thankful this whole month. I'll start with Friday, I was thankful that an acquaintance was cleaning out her closets and I got 13 winter items (mostly tops and sweaters) for $1.00 each.…
  • Greeting and hopes for a great October of MFP-ing! I'm loving the fact that it cools off at night and we haven't had to turn on the air conditioning for 2 weeks! Harvest going on all around us in the countryside, very little rain falling so farmers are taking advantage of the nice weather. I always put my spaghetti squash…
  • Awesome number of posts already this month! Didn't post in August--can't say exactly where the time went but it flew by! I did join Curves though, so not all lost. I also went to my 40th high school reunion and was voted most changed for the better...made my weekend! So here goes with September goals: 1) Exercise minimum…
  • Morning all! Happy 4th of July, looks like a beautiful outside kind of day here in northwestern IL~ :explode: That's for the fireworks! To Heather in Hampshire" Today is the 43rd anniversary of my first marriage. I might honour it by emailing my ex to ask him why he still hasn't paid me the money left to me by my ex DMIL!…
  • Wow, this group has so many postings! Fun to read, but I had to take a break--started last pm and just finished now. My June goals are cast away for now. I spent 10 days in hospital for GI bleeding, so was off MFP almost the whole time. Of course, I had IV fluids instead of food for 6 of those days. Two more days of just…
  • Oh my goodness ! I can’t possibly remember all these people I’ve read about today—and it’s only June 2nd! This group is wonderful, absolutely wonderful. After I read all the posts, I decided to use the word document to type my post. To nonnicee-prayers for clarity of thought and less stress for both you and your husband.…
  • Yes, but I agree with posters that if it was due to increased weight that they grew--the excess weight will come off them also. My band size grew along with them (44D/DD) before loss and now 42D but very soft now. Not really sagging much more though, so I'm okay with this. I'd like to end up a 38C, right now I…
  • So then, decaf coffee would count in your opinion? Or maybe with half caff you can count a portion?? :drinker:
  • I've read posts on here before and thought, "This seems like a fun group". So decided to jump in! I'm an RN who was great at giving other people support and advice on life and health, but didn't listen well to myself. About 16 months ago, I decided it was time to work on me. I've lost 42 pounds on MFP, but a total…
  • Be sure to eat the skin because it gives you lovely fiber to help slow digestion! Enjoy your potato!
  • ^^ This. He's endorsed lots of products through his show that promise weight loss/better health. For a while it was almost "the product of the week". I stopped DVR-ing his show about 6 months ago--he needs to stick with promoting healthy lifestyle and leave the weight loss "cures" alone.
  • Gosh, I'm thinking if it's only a word that disturbs you--you're doing fantastic!
  • Maybe, just maybe, you can talk with your boyfriend about giving away most of his delicious baking. Whether he realizes it or not, he's in denial about how much of a problem you feel you have. If he just HAS to bake, he needs to not leave it for you to handle! It would be a nice gesture to show that even if he doesn't…
  • Here's a question--are you set up on MFP to lose 1 lb a week? If so, then you are reaching your goal. Weight loss does slow off and on through this journey .Look at the graph of your weights from this site--maybe print one off occasionally. Losing the weight means you are winning!
  • Will definitely be a "try me" recipe. Thanks for sharing.
