  • Fitbit syncs to both tablets and phones, but not all of them, check the list on the website. It does say it will sync with the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini - but this only works on the OLD version. I was very frustrated when I found this out as I bought the phone partly for this reason!!!
  • 14,000 steps gives me just over 1000 cals extra, on an average day I earn maybe 3 - 400 extra. Given that everyone else seems to find it pretty accurate I'm guessing that my activity setting on MFP is set too low, looks as if I'd be classed closer to lightly active.
  • Thanks to everyone for the replies, taentea especially - not tying food to exercise - that makes an awful lot of sense.
  • Hi I'm just getting started again, too. Or trying to. Like you I found it easy last time around, this time I'm struggling to get into the right mind set, and finding it much more difficult.
  • I'm a new ish fitbit one owner and Monday to Friday I do roughly between 6 and 7.5 thousand steps a day. Weekends tend to be less. I'm looking to add some friends who do roughly a similar amount of steps on average, and who are up for a little friendly, light hearted competition, and to keep us on our toes - literally! I…
  • Thanks for trying Barbie A S, it trys to sync but it fails every time. What I though was intermittent syncing was actually it just updating the dashboard. The phone doesn't seem to know it's there :'(
  • Ok, it is syncing, but intermittently, it's not successfully every time, not more often than most. Anyone else get this?

  • You tend to loose mostly water weight the first week, so my guess is that you've lost water so your overall weight has come down, but you've not lost much fat so as a percentage that's higher? You arn't actually gaining fat, it's just a greater percentage of the whole. Does that make sense? Although 2 % does sound a lot.
  • Good to know :)
  • I'm Kate, I'm also 33, living in South Wales. I'm starting back again today after a long break from MFP. I have just over 2 stone to loose. Fee free to add me.
  • You are doing fantastically! :)
  • Slimfast always makes me really thirsty after drinking them, could it be that you are drinking more than you usually would after your shake?
  • I'm 5ft 9 and my intake is 1450. Anything less than that and my weight loss grinds to a halt. You might loose on 1200 for a few weeks but you'll likely find that it will stop after a while. ETA I just worked out your weight in stone - why do you want to loose any more? At 10st 4 your already at the very light end of a…
  • You can do it!
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/912920-in-place-of-a-road-map-3-2013 But this link explaines it really well http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/931670-bmr-and-tdee-explained-for-those-needing-a-guide
  • This is basically the way that Paul Mckenna's hypno diets work. If you are physically hungry (no emotional eating, or because the clock says it's time to eat) - eat Eat by the table with no distractions. Chew everything properly and enjoy every mouthful. When you're full - stop If you can stick to those rules the weight…
  • I completely agree, it's more psychological than physical.
  • I've also read that you need to give it 4-6 weeks to see benefits. I've just weighed after my first TDEE week and I've lost 2.6lbs! Ok I've not been counting calories or even watching what I've been eating for a long time, so its most probably water weight. But I am heartened to see any loss, I was concerned when I worked…
  • Work - I love my job :)
  • I have "Carpe Diem" tattooed on my lower back. I was 18 when I got it, I'm 32 now. Would I go out tomorrow and get it done if I hadn't already had it? No. Does it bother me that I did get it? No, not at all. It makes me smile about my youthful optimism. I'd like to think that it's a little more classy than some of the…
  • Are you tired when you go to bed, or do you go when you feel you should? If you not actually tired I would try staying up a little later so that when I did go to bed I'd be more likely to sleep. When do you exercise? If it's too close to bedtime it will make it harder to seep. Do you wind down properly before bedtime? You…
  • I've just started eating 80% TDEE. When I calculated my numbers it seemed a lot of calories. The weight will probably come off slowly, but if it stays of it'll be worth the wait.
  • I calculated my numbers and I get 1755 calories a day, I know I'm quite a tall woman at 5ft 9.5 but that seems an awful lot!
  • Wow! That's fantastic, well done on your loss!
  • Thank you! That's a lot of information! I'll be working out my new calorie goal tonight when I have my numbers to hand. :)
  • I'm already in the FB group, Good luck to you. I've lost 3lbs since I started with out any effortt of even conscious thought about what I eat. I hope it works for you too! On a general note I think its a case of different sttrokes for different folks. Some people do incredibly well at slimming groups.Others (like me) feel…
  • I have the utmost respect for Mum's with more than one child, I don't know how you manage! We are very lucky to have our beautiful healthy little girl, so while I think hubby would love another, just the thought of another pregnancy, let alone another little one to look after is enough ho have me running for the hills.
