  • When I first started losing weight it was critical in really evaluating what and how much I was eating. I found it a real eye opener that say my bowl of cereal was actually 2 servings. Now I cook and bake almost all of my own foods so I use it a lot in my cooking. I got a cheap digital scale at k-mart and it works great.
  • The Four Hour Body by Tim Ferriss is an interesting read.
  • I'm living in Perth. I'm on maintenance and am training for some big cycling events. I am on almost every day.
  • I've had that after doing a charity walk for 18hrs straight. I bruise easily but not usually from normal exercise. However, if you are bruising from exercise you might want to get it checked out by a doc. I have had lots of friends with anemia or different blood diseases that happened to.
  • I make a lot of taco salads or fajita salads. I cook on weekends to help me through the week. Ground/mince beef with taco seasoning or make your own seasoning with cumin, paprika, and chilli powder. I bake chicken in fajita seasoning mixed with bell peppers. Both are great served over a variety of greens. I even top with…
  • I have a lactose intolerance and have since I was born. I can't tolerate any straight cows milk. However, I can have a small amount of ice cream or cheese but I do pay for it later with a slight upset stomach. Yogurt is not a problem as I was told by a dietitian that the cultures in yogurt break down the lactose for you so…
  • I agree. It took me about 5 months to make it all the way through c25k as I was really out of shape and large for my body type. Follow what the program says. Don't move on to the next week of activities until you can complete all the ones in the week you are on comfortably. Otherwise, you could end up injured. Enjoy the…
  • Logging your food and being aware is a great first start. I agree with others in reducing the amount of high sodium foods and switch out the pop to water. There is nothing wrong with having 1 can of soda a day but try to make up the rest with herbal tea or water. In college I used to like taking my text books to the gym…
  • Hi. Congratulations on deciding make a healthier life for you. I would suggest going to the polar website and taking their "quiz". It asks you a series of questions about what you want a HRM to do and will give you suggestions of what will fit your life/fitness goals. I have the polar FT60. It works like a fitness computer…
  • There are a few things but Nuun was always my favorite.
  • I have had many jobs as I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up: Nanny Farm Worker Ice Cream Stand Server Waitress Landscaper Logger (Lumberjack and that's ok) Marketing director Salesperson Rite Aid Cashier Catering Leader for Sodexho Activities worker for a nursing home Lab Worker at a University Research…
  • I drink hot tea while I cook.
  • Agreed :) Great Job!
  • After being on it for 10 years, I did not experience a simalar thing. I didn't really notice any difference at all. I would recomend calling your doctor.
  • The amount of calories depends on your fitness level. In order to get a good idea, it is best if you know how high your HR got.

  • It is definitely doable. I used runners world's smart trainer programs to go between 5 and 10k. My recommendation would be to run outside if the race is outside. The biggest problem is transitioning from a treadmill in a warm comfy gym to running outdoors. Good Luck and enjoy.
  • I have this problem too. My hips can hurt if a matress is to hard too.
  • I have had the Polar Ft2 and the FT60. I have fought with both of them for years. This happens randomly with both. With my FT60 it got so bad Polar replace both the chest strap and the watch. Next time I am going to go with a Garmin. But give Polar a call. One thing I can say is that they do have wonderful customer…
  • I had a broken leg and one knee surgery. I also used it to recover from having tumors removed from just behind my belly button.
  • The need for Iron in you diet varies. MFP puts a blanket amount that is the same for everyone. However, it really isn't the same. Females need more iron in their diet to help balance with monthly blood loss. Whereas, most males will get more than enough in their normal diets, some females need supplement to get enough.…

  • The best thing I have done whenever injured in cycling. A simple recumbent exercise bike would help her a lot.
  • I rotate my breakfast between: Greek Yogurt High Protein cereal Fried Eggs Quick Oats Those last the longest. Things like fruit are ok, but I end up feeling hungry an hour later.
  • I see some people count them. However, I never have and it hasn't hindered my weight loss or maintenance of weight loss. I think you should do what works for you.
  • I get up at 4:30 every morning and work out before work. I tend to have a large glass of water with a small protein bar. After my workout I mix up my breakfast to go with what type of workout I did. If I do a long cardio, then I replace some of the glycogen with a carb based breakfast like cereal. However, if I do more…
  • Great post. Thanks for sharing. All I run into are stray cats. :)
  • I don't have a Trader Joe's around anymore. But my favorite was always guacamole hummus.
  • Absolutely normal. It is mostly due to water retention. A number of fitness books will tell you to look out for it. You can also feel more drained, making it harder to exercise. Also, a couple of running books I have suggest that you may need a few extra calories to maintain normal energy. Those calories do not have to…
  • Fitness level: Recovery from injury I have been running seriously for about 3 years now. I am just ramping back up so I am doing about 6 miles a week. As cross training while I rebuild lost muscle I cycle about 50 miles a week.
  • I also use a headlamp for dark morning runs. I have purchased reflective gear by Mountain Hardware but their clothing is very expensive. The best thing I got recently was a reflective cycling jacket from the local cycling shop. It has great pockets, bright and not as irritating as a vest. It is also a great warmth layer to…
  • Every day to work I drive my 1999 Quintana Roo Bicycle. :)
