Ok, total for today: 4 mile run in my neighborhood (so it was hilly) followed by some ab work on my ab roller, tricep dips & push ups..

I guess on some of my shorter mile days, I can also add in my strength training. Even if I just get a couple of days in each week, I'm getting something in. Maybe on 2 short days and my cross training day?

Wow, there's a lot of Sept 1/2 runners. I just sent you a request to add..and anyone else on here can add me, too, if they want. I started running Oct 2011. My first half is Nov 4th. I'm doing Hal H's Novice 2 training for my half. So far, I have run 2 5K's and one 10K. I have a slew of races to get me through the next few…

My workout: 35 min run (3 miles) 35 min walk (after the 3 miles) 45 min pushing a noisy lawn mower through nearly a foot of soggy grass. Woot.

This is officially my day of rest after my big run yesterday. I'll do some stretching later, and maybe play with my ab roller, but nothing big.
-
It was my "long run" day for the week. Nothing but 3 milers for the next few days. Then I'm supposed to hit 7 next week *gulp*

I've been fighting this sickness for a few days. I finally got out for a quick 30 min jog today. It felt good to move again.

With this stupid headache and stomach issue I've developed over the past few days, my exercise has dropped off Wed-Thurs. Oh well. Exercise: 320 Weight: I'm counting from a starting weight of 212 (which I hadn't updated with MFP). I'm at 210.4 as of today, so 1.6 lb loss

2 mile run through the neighborhood to break in my new shoes :)

5 mile run :) Burn burn burnity burn. Over the weekend: SQUAT! we did a big cookout for our church. Hubby and I were up and out of the house at 5:30am to pick up a pig and start cooking it. We got home around 8pm and were exhausted. I had twisted my ankle, so I took Sunday off as an additional day of rest.

Total = 65 mins..35 on the bike, 30 on the treadmill..started with a jog, and then switched to sprints.

Good idea. I usually wear a sun visor, but the day I was out in the rain, I left it at the house. I'll try that next time. I usually look about 10 feet or so in front of me when I'm jogging. (I usually run with my dog...I have to watch where she's going!)
-
I think you'll love it! I ran in the rain for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was really nice! I agree with the PP's suggestions. My only problem developed when the rain came down really hard. It started stinging my eyes. Any suggestions on that one?

How funny...I plan to do the same thing. My half in November is my "challenge" for this year. After that, I plan to focus more on strength and speed. We have a spartan run around here, too...and my local YMCA has started hosting a survival run. I want to be able to blast through one of those!
-
I'll add both of you :) I'm training for my first half in November :) I started running back in Oct with C25K and completed my first 5K in December. I did a 10K 2 weeks ago, and I have a 5K tomorrow :)

I have to agree that the potato idea is awesome! I have been struggling with what to use for fuel on long runs, too. I have a food "intolerance" that is used in almost every stinking kind of what-have-you if it is processed (gels, bars, etc). I'll keep the tater idea in mind!
