  • I LOVE that stinkin' radio show! I crack up while running :) I ran into an interesting issue today. I didn't realize that supply runs continued until you STOPPED running. My 30 minute workout turned into an hour and 10 minute workout before I realized I needed to hit "stop mission" to quit!
  • 548 mins exercise...1.4 lbs lost
  • If you want an constant readout of your HR - I highly recommend getting one with a chest strap. You can search online for heart rate monitors and find them pretty cheap. I bought my Polar FT4 for around $65.

  • ^^ I agree. I don't think I've ever had a water break last more than maybe 20-30 seconds. Oh, and to the comment about getting more in you than ON you...Sometimes, I need that ON! During my last race, I tossed the whole cup on me. I was burning up!
  • 5 days a week. 3 days between 3-6 miles, 1 day long run (between 7-11 miles) and 1 day recovery run (between 3-6 miles slow). I'm training for a 1/2 marathon right now, that's why my mileage varies so much. I have 1 cross train day and one rest day.
  • My son sweats like crazy & burns as easily as I do. Although it's a PITA to apply, we use the spray on sport sunblock. I also use the face lotion with SPF built in for me. It will work for the amount of time I'm usually outdoors. I also run with a sun visor or a ball cap.
  • After your break this week, pick a day next week that you WILL run...and unless you break a leg putting on your shoes, run no matter what. Your body will thank you :)
  • Yep. I ran into that about a month or so ago. I took a break from running. I think it was only about a week. After that, my body was craving the run again. See about changing things up a little. And don't beat yourself up!
  • I first started running on a treadmill, and at the time I thought I would *NEVER* enjoy running outdoors. I used to think that outdoor runners were crazy. Indoors has AIR CONDITIONING and you don't get WET...and well, in the winter..you don't get COLD. It's also completely SAFE! Then I tried running outdoors (I started…
  • Missed both goals. Exercise: total for the month was @ 850...weight - 1 lb loss. Oh well. July is here..time to kick some boo-tay!
  • Right now, I'm using a new playlist I set up for my last 5K race: Muse - Assassin Muse - Map of the Problematique Muse - Supermassive Black Hole Muse - Uprising Nine Inch Nails - Dead Souls Taio Cruz - Dynamite OneRepublic - Everybody Loves Me The Cult - Fire Woman (The stinkin' zombies caught me today while I was…
  • Ooh, these work simultaneously? I usually use mapmyrun, but I was afraid the GPS would interfere with one another. I will have to use both next time!
  • add another 300 mins and a total loss of 1 lb for the whole challenge.
  • Yes...but I'm going really low since I have to watch my exercise with this injury. 800 mins.. 3 lbs Please
  • Lenore...give me some of your healing patience, please? I have tendinitis.. :-( I have to take a break from running. Period. That means...no 4 miler next week...and throwing a big ol' stinking wrench in everything. CRUD. This mess stinking hurts, too. Crud crud crud.
  • Hah! I was thinking this the other day, too. I think I'm going to see if I survive my half (heh)..and go from there. There is another half here in town that I would REALLY like to run (it's in March)...so I may do it next...then plan for a full in Nov 2013 (it's a very popular one here in town). We'll see how it goes. Good…
  • I've done both. I'm trying to decide on my half this Nov if I'm going to tote music or not. They will allow it, but they do not recommend it for safety reasons. Part of my course will not be completely closed off (running across a bridge, etc). If I do wear my buds, it will be in one ear only. And I won't have it blaring…
  • Holy cow! Talk about motivation to sprint! I really got into it today when the zombies were coming after me :) I'm loving this app :)
  • FWIW, I really like PF. I just re-upped my membership with them. Mine is clean, has tons of equipment (their weight area is as big as the cardio area), offers free physical trainers, and I *Love* the express workout area. PF is a good fit for me b/c I don't really care for classes or the pool. My kids are now old enough…
  • Oh man. I'm downloading this now :)
  • Beagle mix - Her name is Jessie :) She's all tan with a few cute white spots. She's GREAT for runs!
  • I ran in a park right after reading this article. Talk about being paranoid. I'm definitely going to check into getting spray to take with me. For the park run, I only ran with 1 ear bud, and I held my car keys in my fist (poking outward). I know it's not much...but I might be able to bloody someone a bit if they came at…
  • Thank you!!! I have a terrible food sensitivity to a preservative that is present in a lot of the gels and such. I haven't used anything out of fear of getting sick while running. This though...This I can do :) I had been thinking about running with honey sticks, too. A local guy at my farmer's market sales them. But I…
  • gained .5 back....got in another 200 mins. I've decided to start logging all of my calories on here again. Although I've stayed within my point allowance w/ WW...I'm gaining and losing the same 1-2 lbs every month. Something has to change.
  • I agree with PP about incorporating more hills in your training. My neighborhood has a few ridiculous hills that I run. My last race had a hill challenge in it, and I felt pretty good conquering it. Also, if mile 10 is that insane, don't count out walking that hill. You would have to adjust your target time for that,…
  • 250 mins exercise 1 lb lost
  • I'm not sure if anyone else addressed this post or not. I haven't finished reading the thread. This is untrue. If you take the time to read their literature (if you are an online only member) or attend their meetings & getting started (or now called power sessions I think) sessions, then you get tons of information on…
  • Sorry. I have been busy (went out of town) then dealt with some issues with my daughter..and spent a lot of time going places with the kids this week (water park, bowling x3). I'm in. 1000 & 4 lbs.
  • no progress on the weight. 340 mins exercise
  • 45 min walk around the neighborhood.
