  • Are you near any parks with fitness trails (running/walking trails with exercise "stations")? Do you and your friends play hackey sack (small leather ball that you kick around, keeping up in the air)-- it's a great workout! I think another poster's suggestion of getting together with some friends and just kicking and…
  • I reduced my BF by 10% and I've gone down almost two trouser sizes; and I lost inches all around since late Jan. However, the scale says I lost 4lbs. Lots of weight lifting and some cardio on the eliptical, and on non-sym days taking a 40-60 min bike ride or walk. Enljoy it! And yes, you look great!
  • I'm 59. Reduced my body fat % by 10% since late January, have gone done nearly two trouser sizes. I lift weights 4xs a week. I do cardio on the elliptical 3xs weekly. On "non-gym" days, I take 30-45 min bike rides. I eat hearty!
  • This. Don't beat up on yourself. You are going to be fine!
  • What a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday! Congrats of your fantastic accomplishment! I bet your family is proud of you!
  • I started late January on MFP. While I haven't lost much weight, I dropped my BF by 10% and I have gone down by nearly two trouser sizes. My BMR is 1200 (measured by a nutritionist) and I eat between 1300-1500 cals daily. Sometimes I eat some of my cals back, some days I don't, depending upon if I am truly hungry. I lift…
  • This is a very good suggestion. I've been on MFP and while I haven't lost a significant amount of weight, my body fat is reduced by 10% and I've lost inches all over. I've gone down nearly 2 trouser sizes. I lift weights and use an eliptical trainer 3xs weekly at a gym. And on other days, I ride my bike and take my pooch…
  • This is true. Your stats can be "picture perfect." However, over the years carrying excess weight impacts your joints leading to arthritic conditions BTW, I think it is wonderful that you enjoy swimming and feel comfy in your skin. That in itself is a plus.
  • Gating and confinement will work. Training the dog to stay off the furniture will work better. Don't mean to read more into this, it sounds like the intro of a dog into your life is not something you and your boyfriend have discussed.
  • I have a number of friends who have been very successful on WW and have lost weight ranging from 40-80 lbs. One friend is on MFP for maintenance. I would have joined except MFP is free. The weekly meetings' quality is dependent upon the local WW leadership and the mix of participants. The point system is a no brainer.
  • What? No foot fetish folks on here?!
  • You can pack a feast in a cooler -- cook chicken ahead of time, cut up veggies as already mentioned, almonds, even a good old (not too old) peanut butter sandwiches, yogurt, fruit already sliced. Also, some of the fast food places like Wendys and others (you can go to their web sites and see their nutritional data on their…
  • I am very sorry for your loss. It is very natural to grieve the loss of an animal companion. My Bridget passed two years ago and since then I adopted another pitbull from an animal shelter. As much as I love my Bonnie, I still miss Bridget. I kept her color (still has her hair and her smell on it) and her ashes in a…
  • I was very overweight as a child (even in kindergarten) and during the late 50's and early 60's, obese kids were few and far between in school so if you were fat you really stuck out. Kids used to taunt me with, "Fatty, fatty two by four/can't fit through the bathroom door/so she does it on the floor/fatty fatty two by…
  • Take Tigersword for it. He knows his stuff.
  • I think there is a thread or a forum around where you can find your "twin," that is, an MFPer who more or less matches gender, weightloss/fitness goals, etc. You might want to try that. My personal preference is to keep the number of friends low so that I can support them -- review and comment on their diaries, pay…
  • Slim Fast products have alot of additives, the kind you can't pronounce. Try the best you can to build up to food filled with nutrients, even it takes awhile.
  • I remember that. It was awful. Then one idiot poster commented, "good luck with your Dr's appt -- if you don't forget it."
  • For some folks cleaning is an energy expenditure. One of my friends has a HRM and does a weekly heavy duty cleaning of her home, and for her weight and fitness level she expends alot of calories. I don't count cleaning because I don't have an accurate means of measuring it. BMR does not include calories expended on…
  • You are just lovelly looking with and without make up. It is a wonderful gift!
  • Wow. Pretty interesting observations. I've never been in the customer direct service industry and wouldn't even have guessed the differences you experienced.
  • I don't live in the middle of no where but I do live on an island part of the year. It's about a 45 min drive one way to a grocery store so while I don't plan to the degree some other posters do, I think through at least what a dinner menu will look like for the week. I don't want to be schlepin' back and forth to a…
  • "Hanging wallpaper comes to mind . . . " That's for sure!!! Otherwise, we go to the gym at the same time, but do our own thing. He will occasionally spot for me while I am lifting, or he'll look over at me if he hears UGH, UGH -- it's me swiinging a kettleball.
  • Mandy-- I think your trainer may be short changing you on the calories. Go to fitness frog and use their calculators to determine for yourself your BMR, bodyfat %,(use the US Military Standard -- or certainly your trainer must have a device to measure it for you) TDEE (total daily energy expeditures). Compare those daily…
  • Another shorty here. I'm Jean and I'm 4'11" . My goal is to loose 35 lbs and reduce BF from 44% to 25%. My daily calorie goal is 1600, which I haven't been doing very well with. it is based upon calcs I did on fitness frog: Light exercise: TDEE 15% cut 1800 1552 Mod. Exercise: 2058 1749 I figured the 1600 averages out the…
  • I don't think I would let me back in the country.
  • My room mate in college and I were kind of the bums of the honor dorm. Our room was a mess, we would open the window of our room and do impressions of bodily noises, particularly if parents were visiting and walking by the dorm. We pretended we were fighting and threw furniture around, and screamed. So of course the nicest…
  • I just dropped my cereal spoon reading this recipe. Must be delicious. Definately a must try!
