It's really great to see cycling on behalf of a charity. All the other posters' advice is on the mark. I am 60 and ride for fitness 30-50 miles weekly. Another way to minimize saddle sores iand shoulder aches is to ensure that you are properly fitted to your cycle. A good bike shop will do this for you. Sometimes a minor…

You can also work off of a balance ball. Also swimming if there is a Y available for you. Full leg lifts from laying on your back. I've arthritic knees from old sports injuries and cycling helps me tremendously. I cycle on flat bike paths in a low gear. Just confirm with your orthopedist or pt best options for you.

Hi, I'm 4'10" . I net between 1300-1400 cals daily. I cycle 10-12 miles daily. I will within the next week modify my net cals to 1400-1600, and add weight lifting to my routine 3xs weekly. I have a small and electic group of MFP friends that are very supportive and are at various stages of their fitness levels and weight…

Just an observation -- it seems as if whether you are improving your fitness and health, managing your weight, or conversely, not incorporating any of those things in your life, people are judging you and/or never fail to express an opinion as to what you are eating or not eating, the way your clothing fits or doesn't,…

Rather than speculating as to what you think it is and isn't, You really should see a doctor before proceeding with any weight bearing exercises. You have no idea what you are setting yourself up for in the future by not taking care of injuries now.

I suggest you and your guy decide the particulars of your big day, civil ceremony or not, jug band, beach, Church, etc. Then you matter of factly tell your family what you decided and that it would please you if they attended. (if it would). Regardless of their response, do what you want to do, and enjoy your day. Dont let…

On the mornings I have cold cereal, I have fage yogurt, and fruit. If I have a protein based breakfast, I am okay until lunch.

In the southeast along the coast --Charleston SC and Savannah, Ga.. Plenty of ways to get around the cities on foot, bike, etc, but w/o a rental car it is difficult to travel from one place to another in the states. In the southwest --Sante Fe, Taos New Mexico.

I recall girls in high school gossiping like that with one another about other girls and/or other girls' cliques. In college (I attended an all women's college) I don't recall that type of gossip; however given the economic class differences among study body members, some women were not too subtle about how important that…

I lived and worked in Manhattan for many years, and took the subway. I smiled or nodded at strangers on the subway, mostly because with regular commute patterns you see the same people of the platform and hopping the same cars in the same doors. Kind of like family. I also lived in NJ and commuted on NJT into Manhattan.…

You are an extraordinarily amazing young woman, and quite beautiful You have beat incredible odds. When your children are older, I hope you share your story with them.

I do quite a bit of my shopping there. Their own brands are reasonably priced. Their frozen fish is minimally processed. I like their stuffed raviolis and selection of canned fish (dolphin safe). Their own brand of unsweetened soy milk is great. I also like their brand of raw almonds and dried organic (or not) cranberries.…

I'm 60 yrs old and 4'11". MY RMR is 1240. I cycle daily 8-10 miles. I usually net between 1300-1400 calories on those days. I lift weights 3xs weekly. On the days I cycle and lift weights, I net about 1500 cals. I can't say much about weight loss that is event driven. Except that it doesn't stay off.
-
Excellent examples and, I eat raw almonds and for a sweet, figs.

OP, At least eat what your BMR is. On those days you exercise, at least eat some of your calories back. Barely eating isn't going to help you loose weight. Also, in order to respond in a more meaningful way, what is your current weight and what is your goal weight? What is your BMR and do you know your BF% How much did you…

Congrats. I've had a number friends who, with a few slips and trips, were able to stop smoking. One friend, in fact, had such a strong association with smoking and drinking beer, he ended up giving up the latter (cig in one hand, beer in the other). Sounds like other posters have great suggestions. All I can say is carry…

Some of the commercials on the local channels here are for locally grown food. Even though the actors are not profesionals the marketing is quite clever. Makes you want to rush out and buy snap peas and purple potatoes.

I agree. When I hear "sedentary lifestyle" I think more of "inactive joyfulness".

Wow. Agree, except I did like the first Bourne

YOu must have been singin' this am. Good work paying off and that much closer to your goal. Congrats! Nice profile pic btw

I keep a britta water tank thing on the counter where I can see it since staying hydrated was a problem for me. I know this isn't exactly what you were asking about, but i keep myself emotionally fit. I accept that there will be challenges and if i don't live up to them ( like going over my daily diary ) the world isn't…
