  • A coworker friend came over to offer me a homemade egg roll that someone on her team made. I didn't even hesitate to say no thank you, and she tried to sell me on it but I still didn't want it. She left saying (jokingly!!) "How dare you have self control!" XD
  • Fantastic job! You're right, MFP definitely works! But like any tool, it only works as well as it's used. Looks like you had the right idea! Bravo!
  • I've been at this for 60 days myself, and I am so much happier with my eating! I still manage to work treats into my life (I've been to a couple festivals with fried entrees and funnel cakes), and I pack a healthy snack every day for work. I feel like I'm missing something if I eat a meal without a fruit or vegetable…
  • Hey, don't feel discouraged! That happens to me A LOT, and usually a couple days later it comes back off and goes down. Did you happen to eat a lot of sodium the day before your weigh in? Have you been always weighing yourself at the same time (like first thing in the morning), or did you eat something/drink a bunch of…
  • JFT 7/29: 1) Go take my dang breaks at work and walk! 2) Make a healthy choice when I go out for lunch 3) Stick to my calorie goal today (been over a little bit the last couple of days)
  • To be able to run 10 minutes' worth of my 1.75 mile walk/run. Right now i'm up to 6 one minute splits of running in that long of a walk, I'd like to get to 10.
  • Yesterday I decided that my subconscious was starting to think burgers and/or fries are forbidden foods (I had a dream that I was stuffing my face with like 3 orders of fries and a ridiculously huge burger lol), so I decided to go to McDonalds for lunch, because I wanted to head off any potential binges before it became an…
  • I've had people comment about how much I can eat and still lose, as well as *what* I eat. I don't believe in cutting out any food groups or forbidding myself from ever eating fast food or somewhat unhealthy choices on occasion. Some people don't get that, but balance is what works for me, not restriction. I don't think…

  • Some days you eat salad and go to the gym. Other days you eat cupcakes and refuse to put on pants. It's called balance.
  • SW: 239 CW: 222.6 unofficially. My last "official" weigh in was 224. GW: 160-165
  • I like Map My Walk/Run, simply because I need something to help me keep track of distance, speed, and audio reminders so I know when it's been a minute (I'm just starting out running, doing the 2 mins walking, 1 minute running splits). I know for a fact without it I regularly underestimate my time out and overestimate my…
  • For me, I find them very uncomfortable. They pinch at the waist and it makes it difficult to sit for long periods of time, which is kind of a requirement when I work a desk job! Add to the fact that for some stupid reason women's dress pants in higher sizes now have no belt loops... obviously jeans have loops but I can…
  • ^This. Also, i'm totally stealing that gif, hahaha I love it. :D
  • I'm at work today. Excuse the giant *kitten* zit on my chin right now (ack!), i'm just coming out of my TOM so those inevitable little breakouts are still fading. :)
  • I was walking around wearing size 20 jeans and had to keep pulling them up (I *hate* belts so I don't wear them) and in the evening, I was walking through the hallway and they slipped off to my ankles, haha! Now I have a new problem: I'm still too big for any of my size 18s. :P
  • I have this issue too, and I spoke to my dietitian about it. She said that what might help is to make sure you have some protein with every meal (and snacks if you can), and eat the protein portion first. She said that will make it stick a little more and satiate that hunger longer. So far it's worked for me, even around…
  • JFT Saturday: 1. Walk at least 1.5 miles on work breaks 2. Go for a run/walk after work (more walking than running but, it's a start) 3. Control my boredom snacking at work and only eat the snacks I portioned out for myself this morning.
  • Hello, feel free to add me! I like having friends on MFP :) SW:239 CW: 225.6 GW: 165 for now
  • For me, I just stopped accepting my own (BS) excuses for why I couldn't succeed, and made it a priority to do whatever it takes. I'm tired of living a life that makes me unhappy, tired of feeling like crap when I eat crappy foods, or being unable to go for a walk without feeling tired and winded.
  • Thank you!! I had a really stressful day today and slipped up tonight as a result, but I know I've got this!
  • Just for today, I'm going to accept that I didn't have a great day, and forgive myself for going over my calories for the day whilst hanging out with one of my besties I haven't seen in forever. Sometimes you just need a margarita and a couple tacos with friends.
  • My current goal is to lose 5 more pounds, so I can buy the poster version of this to put in my work cubicle: http://zenpencils.com/comic/160-edgar-albert-guest-it-couldnt-be-done/
  • Thanks everyone! I do know that 2 months isn't that long of a time, like I said I was surprised that I showed any improvements at all in my numbers! But yesterday I was pretty upset about their callous disregard for my efforts. Especially the arguing with me that I can't POSSIBLY be exercising as much as I say I am if my…
  • I *could* have 2000 and still lose, right now i'm sitting at 1900 though. My number is that high because I'm still obese, and because I walk at least 1-3 miles every day. So there's that.
  • See, right now I'm not overly worried about the cholesterol. I know that if I keep doing the right things, it will eventually go down as I lose weight. I'm actually really happy that it's already gone down by 10%! I didn't expect to see a change at all honestly. I was also glad to see my nonfasting blood glucose had gone…
  • I had a biometric screening today through my workplace for insurance purposes, and while the other things on my report didn't change really at all since last year's, I showed a significantly reduced non-fasting blood glucose, and my total cholesterol dropped by 10%. Too bad the stupid screening employee had to harp on…
  • This is great advice, I try to do this occasionally. Unfortunately sometimes I have issues because i'll retain water weight for a couple days, it takes a while to flush it from my system, so I get discouraged if I see it not going down. But then it'll suddenly drop like 2lbs out of nowhere and that's when I know that the…
  • For me, it's been different because I've been taking baby steps. Very small goals, and remembering that this isn't a diet, this is my life, and I have to stop making excuses and make it work. I decided this time to go to a nutritionist/dietitian. She listened to everything I usually eat and all the struggles I have had,…
  • Today is my 50th day since choosing to make my lifestyle change. I have no desire to go back! :)
  • Awesome job! :D
