I just took the chicken thighs and pork ribs up off the smoker and the Mrs is whipping up some green salad and green beans. Gonna wash it down with some Pyramid Apricot Ale. Good eats.

Congrats. I am also 57 and resist the urge to run every time it presents itself. :happy: :happy: I am a big fan of nature hikes. I spend several hours each weekend out on the trail.

Are you using an HRM with a chest strap or just an HRM watch? If the latter you need to manually check your HR every now and then so it updates to your current heart rate. If you just do it once after you start your exercise it will calculate at that HR the entire time and thus could be off with the total it gives.

The wine is a better choice if your goal is weight loss. Beer is wonderful stuff, but the good stuff is carb-heavy and the low carb beer sucks.

I lift weights several mornings each week, walk at least a couple miles every weekday and do early morning trail hikes on the weekend. I have found that both fat and protein are my friends. I don't believe I have ever thought of preparing a banana. Aside from peeling it and sticking it in my mouth. :smile: Which I haven't done in years as I am an Insulin dependent type 2 diabetic and bananas are a wee bit too sugary for me.

At my age, not a big fan of running. Too tough on the joints. I do several hours of wilderness trail hiking on the weekend instead to get my cardio in.

Planet Fitness is pretty much on my commute to work in the morning. Adds maybe five minutes to what I would be driving anyway, so very convenient.
