You've never seen the 3oz cans or 2.6oz pouches? Those are ubiquitous at every supermarket I shop at. A 3oz can is like 80 calories, with 18 grams of protein.

As another type 2 diabetic I feel your pain. I hate going hypoglycemic like that. I have got as low as 25 in the past when doing insulin. I refuse to take any meds for diabetes these days. Have dropped over 60 pounds since Jan1 and avoid carbs like the plague to keep my bg level somewhat normal. When I was doing insulin I…

Plus which, they look so darn cool.

Yeah, I'm working the Aging Hippie thing to the max. I suppose I should do a profile pic showing the gray ponytail.

Meat.

It's more like you are losing more fat than muscle, not gaining muscle while losing the fat. Eat plenty of protein and lifts weights while on a calorie deficit and each pound you lose will, hopefully, be something like 80% fat, 20% muscle. The sweet part is that losing the fat which is hiding the muscles you do have causes…

You were thinking? :glasses:

Well now, this was special.

About an hour and a half ago. Started a 7 mile trail hike at 4:50am. Love to get a hike in before the work day begins.
-
Yeah. If the title was "filling up my girlfriend," I could see the inappropriate.

Hmm...protein is 4 calories per gram. 4 calories * 36 grams = 144 calories
-
Yup. I always assume that a serving of diet anything will contain 4 calories of carb per serving. Not a big deal to some but I am an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic and watch my carb intake relentlessly.

I think it's a good idea to log anything that isn't pure water in using at a couple calories per serving. My understanding is that companies can call there drinks Zero Cal as long as they don't have more than five calories per serving. Check the label and see if it says something along the lines of "Not a significant…

I had me a yummy avocado with some mayo and mustard mixed in about half an hour ago for my mid morning snack. Such goodness they are.

A little over sixty pounds in a little less the seven months, so about two pounds a week.
-
Hmm...will look into that. Thanks.

I will be interested in reading the responses to this. I do a six to seven mile trail hike before work each morning and was wondering just a while ago if there would be any benefit to wearing a pack with a 25lb weight plate in it while hiking.
-
Hi. I think I would up the calories a bit if I were you.
-
Don't you just love it when someone corrects your verbiage and then misspells a simple word? "Calories in referes to consumption." "Referes?"
-
Totally my pleasure. :glasses:

I had two poached eggs and a couple slices of lean ham for breakfast this morning. About 250 cals, 2 carbs.
-
Which begs the question, "does size matter?"
-
Well of course you are.
-
By George! I do believe you've got it. :glasses:

You're doin' great. Keep up the good work and don't worry about the haters. Must really be cutting into your sitting on the couch, watching TV and eating Cheetos time, though.
-
I do so enjoy these threads. Keep up the good work everybody.

Yup. Unless you are over by a huge amount every day. The MFP default for protein when setting up your profile is ridiculously low in my opinion. I shoot for at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight daily. I am at about 190 right now so I go for a minimum of 190 grams of protein. Most days I end up closer to 250…
-
Yep. That should be the case in both MFP and Fitbit.

I do a 6-7 mile trail hike in the morning before work so I fuel up for that. 4 poached eggs before leaving home, 2.5 ounces homemade jerky during the hike and a protein shake with 30grams protein immediately following the hike. Breakfast was spread out from 4am when I had the eggs to 7am when I downed the shake.
