Listening to your body to tell you when you're full is a great habit and something that takes time to cultivate. Sometimes you can feel full because you've had a lot of liquid or fiber, though, and then you might get hungry before the next meal. If your schedule and your goals allow snacks, that's no problem. Stop when…

I'm so happy for you! You look amazing!

I agree! Many girls go through a chunky period for a year or two, somewhere around age 11 - 15 then slim down. This is just my own observation from seeing my kids and their friends grow up, and remembering myself and my friends at different ages. One thing I would do is try to be observant. If you see her reaching for…

Do you think the sloth is more fit than most humans?

The smell of cooked broccoli gets complaints in my house, but everyone likes to eat it.

I avoid fake meats because most contain MSG, which stimulates appetite. There are various ingredients in fake meats that contain MSG, but these individual ingredients don't have a high enough percentage to require that the label actually list MSG. When 5 or 6 of these ingredients are used, the product ends up having quite…

I tried it in the 1980's when they recommended particular diet guidelines. To my knowledge, they no longer have diet recommendations. I didn't like the 12 steps, but went to meetings just to keep myself focused and stay honest with myself. I liked listening to people's strategies to avoid overeating and the success stories…

I didn't notice the 25% carbs at 1300 calories. If the OP is actually doing this consistently over at least a week with no cheat days, and spreading those carbs out through the day, not in just one meal, then the OP has already tried my method of eating aimed at reducing cravings. Has anyone mentioned that a proper amount…

Did you mean "Cowspiracy"? I think you got auto-corrected :)

Reading your post reminded me of how I used to feel and behave when I was eating more carbs than my body could handle. People who are frequently craving crackers, potatoes, breads, pasta, chips, cakes, etc are possibly suffering from the effects of unbalanced blood sugar and insulin response. If you completely stop eating…

My moment was when I went to the doctor for knee pain and he said "You've got to get this load off your knees!" I knew the extra weight was not doing my knees any favors, but to actually hear it from a doctor in such a forthright way straightened me right up. He said if I could get down below 160, my knees would feel…

I try to keep a list of things I need to do handy. Some things are big projects and some are small. Some are tedious like sewing on a button, and others are enjoyable like calling a friend. When I feel the urge to eat, I look at my list and choose something to do. I'm not telling myself I can't eat, just that I need to…

For some people it's torture not to go low carb. If you're prone to unstable blood sugar, eating too many carbs can cause hunger and cravings. For me, that's a worse torture than limiting carbs.

For only 25 calories, I use a full cup of heated unsweetened cashew milk with a cup of coffee and sweeten with stevia. i cover the stevia flavor with nutmeg, cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. Or I sweeten with a flavored stevia.

So sorry for your losses. Kudos for doing what you can to honor the victims and watch over your friends.

I lost 95 pounds on a vegan diet, but I was always hungry. My cholesterol numbers improved, but I could not get it below 200. In my case, the higher carb count of the vegan diet was problematic because I personally need a higher protein, lower carb diet to keep my blood sugar and insulin levels more stable. When they're…

I never log mustard. Sometimes I don't log celery, but I do if I'm trying to hit a fiber goal. I usually log fish oil because that's 20 calories.

I just looked it up, and besides being a diuretic, it is said to act as a laxative, slow cancer growth, decrease inflammation, inhibit microbial and fungal growth, improve liver function, regulate blood sugar and insulin, improve HDL cholesterol, and boost immune function. Web MD says that none of these claims have been…

You might want to get a food sensitivity test. Are you sure it's not the protein shake? Some people's stomachs react badly to pea protein or whey.

Most of the calories are in the bread (200 - 250), Italian lunchmeat and mayo. Would you like a lettuce wrap with turkey or chicken and veggies? The sweet onion sauce is only 40 calories, so that's okay. You do need some fat in that lunch, so maybe avocado or cheese?

I think a small extra deficit for a few days would be a good idea. Then, as others have said, don't beat yourself up over it, just let it be a learning tool, and then prepare mentally for next time. At your family parties, are there usually veggie options? Decide to fill up on those, or better yet, bring a salad that's…

Depression after surgery is something doctors don't tell you about. Anesthesia can cause temporary depression.

I like the idea of requiring nutritional information on the menu.

I love this! Eat to turn up the color on life - Awesome!

I've recovered my mojo again after losing it on vacation! I didn't go crazy or anything on vacation, but I did get the taste buds used to sourdough bread, cookies and pasta again. When I got back home, it was harder than I thought it would be to return to my healthy eating habits. I was getting intense cravings many times…

You're on your way to Moldovia! Keep up the awesome work. :)
