  • I try not to get too concerned about my sugar total for the day if it's coming from fruits and vegetables. However, I do need to limit fruit to 2 small servings a day or I get too hungry. Sometimes cravings get intense if I haven't had enough protein or fat, or fiber or water or sleep. Or if I'm bored.
  • Chili on top of a bed of raw spinach.
  • I eat each bite of a hamburger patty with a bite of dill pickle and dip it in a combination of ketchup, mustard and Sambal Oelek (hot chili paste)
  • Hi Summer :) As others have said, logging is essential. You will be amazed at how much logging inspires you to change habits. When I don't log, I can really fool myself about how often and how much I eat. When I make myself keep track by logging I immediately see a huge upsurge in my motivation to make better choices.…
  • Losing 7 pounds in the first two weeks is completely normal. Four pounds is probably water weight. Good for you for being so motivated and enthusiastic!! Now that you know you can do it, hopefully you'll feel okay about easing up a little bit. The thing you need to be most concerned about, healthwise, is that dieting and…
  • How do you do Vegan Keto?
  • I don't think it's possible to do a vegan ketogenic diet and meet protein requirements. Vegan protein sources like beans and grains have a significant amount of carbs. You can lose weight by reducing calories. The balance of macros is your choice, and should be based on how you feel physically on high carb versus low carb.…
  • I thought one of the benefits of IF was increased metabolism, but no one mentioned this. Am I mistaken?
  • Not every dinner has to look like a traditional dinner. Just keep carbs low, eat lean protein, veggies and drink more liquids than usual. You'll be fine. Just keep telling yourself you'll be fine.
  • Sadly, I haven't had time to keep up with everything going on with this thread, but wanted wanted to say "Cheers!" to everyone still here. And for the data obsessed like me, I wanted to report back about my loss 45 days after diet break ended. Math says I'm averaging a .93 lb loss per week! And I haven't been at a steady…
  • http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10604863/of-refeeds-and-diet-breaks/p1 Congratulations on your weight loss and fitness! You might find the above thread interesting. Adaptive thermogenesis can slow your weight loss down if you have been severely restricting your calories for a long time, which is what it…
  • Thank you!
  • You might find it enlightening to do a little investigating. What did you eat the day before you went off the rails? Was it carb heavy? Was it light on protein? Were the calories excessively low? If you've experienced several cycles of being "on" then "falling off" your diet, then you'll have a lot of data to look at (in…
  • I took the test twice. Second time I really pondered the questions. It still came out INFP -T and all the percentages were similar to my first test except for Judging/Prospecting which was 42/58 the first time and 26/74 the second time. I wish there was a way to see which questions determined the split on Tactics. It seems…
  • hahaha! That's me at work. But it's "the cause" that's being the exhibitionist through me, while I want to remain invisible.
  • Another INFP Mediator here! 86% introvert. And I have a pessimistic streak too. Like you, I had a very difficult time answering some of the questions. For instance, how I relate to people at work is very different than how I relate at a party or with my children. And what I want to be - my ideals - are sometimes very…
  • They sell Lara Bars, and some other whole food energy bars. They have a great section of nuts and seeds and trail mix. Their seaweed snacks are awesome! Also some really good prepared salads that are vegan. There's tons of stuff in the frozen section that might be interesting, including veggies, fruit, rice, pastas,…
  • That's your reaction to Vitamin D too??? Every specialist I talked to says there's no way vitamin D can make me constipated, but I swear it does. Even the D without calcium.
  • I'm going on 4 years now of being vigilant with MANY things so I can stay regular. There's no one fix for me - it's a cocktail. #1 All Bran Cereal (Or Trader Joe's High Fiber Cereal) The insoluble fiber in this is what I most need. #2 Magnesium Oxide (the least absorbable version of magnesium - passes through to where it…
  • I'm not entirely understanding your time line. During Oct 26 - Nov 16 you did a refeed and a diet break? And still lost 3 pounds?
  • For anyone interested, here's my post diet break results: 4.2 pound loss in 3.5 weeks! Oct. 9 - Starting weight, day one of diet break: 168.7 Oct 14 - High weight during break: 170.4 Oct. 22 - Ending weight, day 14 of diet break: 168.7 Oct 30 - 166.2 (2.5 pounds in one week!) Nov. 7 - 166.9 (after house guests for 7 days,…

  • It's a great idea to do planned diet breaks to help restore hormone levels and support your metabolism, especially when you're dieting long term. Congratulations on your loss!! I'm planning a two week diet break in December as well. Like you, I intend to eat a few hundred calories below maintenance levels on days I don't…
  • One thing that really helped was learning some tricks with the food scale. Maybe obvious to some people, but not me, lol. I learned to put the whole jar of cashew butter or yogurt on the scale, tare (zero out), then scoop out the desired number of grams - seen as a negative number. It took a while for this to register in…
  • Quest protein bar, double chocolate chunk works for me, because I'm always eager to get more protein in. The protein seems to keep me from eating my treat then diving into 5 more.
  • @eponine1984 I didn't notice a change in mood during diet break or afterwards. But I have seen improvement in mood when I decrease carbs and increase protein to proper amounts. In my case, I think unstable blood sugar caused a bit of depression, and aiming to keep my macros in line at all times helps keep the blahs away.
  • Great questions! You've already received some great answers, but I'll add my two cents! I did the diet break because of a slow down in weight loss, but I wish I'd known about it earlier so I could do a pre-emptive strike. Before the diet break, I wasn't experiencing cravings or hunger, and I wasn't bored with my diet. It…
  • Didn't have any Halloween candy! And didn't want any. :o
  • 20 pounds? That just sounds insane. Surely that's for a large man with enormous muscle mass?
  • I'm not expert at this, but as someone who just did a diet break for the first time, I can share that perspective. Before I began my diet break, I actually went back a few months and calculated my calorie averages and weight loss so that I would feel confident with estimating my TDEE. Then I compared my number to MFP's and…
