  • Yeah- go you! Don't let some people on mfp scare you! You know from experience that you can eat & still lose!
  • Prednisone because of Autoimmune hepatitis. Then I had a stroke so my body has not been very cooperative. I have always struggled with weight but I was a 14 or 16 before, never a plus size!
  • OP-Thanks for sharing your story! Very encouraging. I was also afraid that fitbit would give me less than Scooby but being disabled, it was really dificult to estimate which level to pick for myself! Fitbit has me a little over sedentary not quite halfway to light. I really would not have guessed that without a lot of…
  • Having yo yo dieted for 30 years if " Eating more" actually helps change the 30 year trend of getting to goal but only being able to stay there for a year ( or 5 minutes) then it is worth it. Stay tuned!
  • My own observation is that there is more space between plus sizes than smaller misses sizes. 38 pounds got me from 20W to 16W but I thought that might mean a lower size. I agree with the poster that said about 20 pounds per size. And for me it comes slower off the hips:(
  • I think it depends on where you are when you start - I was obese on the BMI scale. I started at a 20W & am now a16W
  • I m doing it and I am disabled so I cannot do weight lifting or really even walking! So far so good
  • Looking for the slutty 45- year old shops - ha ha. I am not there yet! While I am buying transitional sizes on the way down, ebay is the equivalent of goodwill online. I am a bargain hunter - love Marshalls & TJMaxx- wish they sold on line. Even though I can no longer drive, I can shop onlline - you ladies are a danger to…
  • Wow you have made an awesome change - you should be really proud of yourself! It may not be a bad thing to maintain for awhile at this weight. Your family/friends see such a drastic difference that compared to the old you- you look fantastic! (Not that you aren't a beautiful human being no matter your size) . As long as…

  • Just a Handful Size of Trek Mix or Cashews. Prepackage size helps me limit my portions. Frozen Quinoa Melange. For my occasional treat I eat a square of the Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate with Whole Hazelnuts. Yum!
  • I started losing weight at 235 and strarted EM2WL at about 210 - Obese at 5'5" so it does not matter if you are obese I have lost about 10-12 pounds on it. True, it is slower than starving but much more sustainable for the long haul/realistic. I use the scooy site for numbers. I am doing -15% of TDEE because doing less…
  • You may get to the point where you are begging for 1/2 a pound a week ( llike me! ) so enjoy it while you can!

  • You do not ever eat below BMR. Look at http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ and use lose 15% goal & moderate or strenous as your exercise level, TDEE is what you would eat to maintain. Don't listen to what MFP tells you to eat, it is not enough. Eat at TDEE-15% to follow EM2WL. On EM2WL you do not eat back…
  • Hi I am certainly not the expert but it depends on for how long and how active you were before this happened. I have seen moderators say that if it is just for 1-3 weeks keep where you are - longer period may require you adjust to light. Sedentary setting on scooby is like a coma - it is barely above BMR so if it will be…
  • Current weight- and you recalculate every time you lose 5 pounds. Good luck!
  • You have it right if your exercise brings you below BMR, you make sure to net at least up to your BMR. No it doesn't matter that you do not exercise on certain days - the activity level tales the hours PER WEEK into consideration - they already average your work out & non workout days together, as long as you are figuring…
  • Hi - It also depends on your age. I would like to be 135 but I don't know if that is reasonable & maintainable - at 44 I will be happy to be back in the healthy BMI range at 149 or under at 5'5". I was up to 237 at my highest - now I am 203.
  • I was so happy because my husband said he was going to join me after 7 months! Well that lasted about 2 days! My mother- in - law was not supportive AT ALL until I really started to lose weight - then she is "proud" & telling my mom how great I look, etc. Yeah- no thanks to her! Some people may be used to people talking a…
  • The scooby calculator(http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/) says normal range 0.5 – 1.0 g per pound bodyweight
  • 1-2 lbs per week is recommended. And average for people to lose per week. Cutting back more sometimes backfires and you end up stalling or gain if you eat too little. Everyone is different. It is normal for it to slow down as you get closer. Much of the 3.2 was probably water or hormonal fluctuations. Sometimes measuring…
  • You are very young. If I could talk to my younger self now (at age 44) I would tell her that she would save a lot of heartache and struggle over the years by doing something about bingeing NOW. I have lost weight multiple times over the years, have clothes from a 10 to 20W in my closet and always gain the weight back. I…
  • That is what I do -what everyone has suggested-make an educated guess. If 80-90% of what you eat, you know the calories, educating guessing seems fine. You can also ask- a restaurant we go to has an under 600 calorie section of the menu. I asked about some other item & they handed my a paper with the whole menu broken down…
  • My husband tells me that this is one of my biggest obstacles and why I have always gained back! . I have been on so many diets in my 44 years because - once I am on - I am on and I have been able to lose the weight but once I am off, I am off and all that work goes out the window. Last one was an expensive doctor…
  • A female Japanese weightlifter. I did not think i would match anyone!

  • My first two weeks on EM2WL I lost, the third I gained so that may happen to you. Count your lucky stars some gain over 20 pounds! Best of luck!
  • Hi -Public Television has a series on seated exercise - you could try that. I was in a chair when I first had a stroke. I have a paralyzed arm/wrist/hand fingers & a paralyzed ankle/foot/toes on one side from a stroke so they don't work for me but best of luck. I have lost over 30 pounds from counting calories alone. You…
  • Hi I am not in the chair now but my left wrist/hand/fingers & ankle/toes are paralyzed from a stroke almost three years ago. I can walk 2 or 3 blocks at a time with a cane. It is challenging losing weight by calorie cutting alone but so far I have lostr over 30 pounds since January. so it can be done. I can't do seated…
  • Hi - Have you read the stickies yet? - the messages that are pinned at the front of the group? That is a great place to start. I use the scooby calorie calculator (google it) to figure out my numbers. I took your numbers & it had you at 2064-2297 for your total daily energy expenditure depending on if I calculated your…
